Stopped in at lunchtime for a mani/pedi. Two women were at the counter helping a customer. Stood there for three minutes, neither acknowledged my presence. Then an older white man walked to the counter. The older Asian women then asked me what I wanted, I said mani/pedi. I was told to sit, they would find out if they had time. They then helped the gentlemen behind me. The older woman walked around the salon for another five minutes. Then without a word exchanged between the younger and older woman, the younger woman told me that they had no appts until after 5p. I don’t doubt that they didn’t have an appt, just wished they had treated me with the same courtesy as the other two customers. Why have someone sitting there for 10 minutes if you are both clear that there are no appts available? Why not help me before another, more… let’s say, desirable customer came up? I thought money was all the same. Guess not.

I’ve been coming to Luxelab to see Tammy since I moved to Pasadena in 2008, and I’ve never seen anyone else. I’ve lived in Pasadena, downtown, and now West Hollywood, and I’ll drive however long it takes to get to her. My hair is an ashy blonde and I’ve done everything from basic highlights, to copper red, and back to a bright blonde. When I had red hair, people would come up to me daily to tell me that the color was so beautiful and that I should never color it(HA!). When I decided to go back from red to blonde, Tammy was able to change the color back in one sitting. I don’t know how she does it, but I always leave with my hair looking fabulous. Plus, Tammy is smart and funny, which makes it easy to sit in her chair for a couple of hours while she’s working her magic. I would recommend her to anyone. I also see Marlene for facials and waxing. She is amazing. My skin always looks glowing when I leave and her facials are a complete indulgence. I always tell her she gives the best arm and neck massages that I’ve ever had. I’m not the type of person who falls asleep during massages, but hers are so relaxing and symmetrical that I always seem to find myself dozing off. I also really like all of the products they use and use them exclusively for my skin care. Marlene also does top notch waxing and is extremely meticulous with her work. She’s also just a wonderful, kind person, which makes all of my appointments really enjoyable. I would also recommend her to anyone :)

The salon is nice looking, and the receptionist very friendly… after that I don’t have many positive things to say. I was ontime for my appointment and Natasha is 15 min late. They had me change and try to stall with offers of coffee and water. I then have to wait for her assistant to shampoo and condition my hair, she was apparently not available to do so, as it was more important for her to help herself to a cup of tea. As a client, I did not feel that my time was valuable to her, it really felt like her needs were most important. My haircut was fine, but not fantastic and cost over $ 100. I will have to continue my search for a great stylist in Pasadena… she is definitely not it.

Love this salon! Keya does my cut and highlights and does an amazing job. He really listens to what I want and also offers great suggestions. For color he does balayage and it’s super natural looking. I only have to have the color redone about every 3 months because it grows out so seamlessly. I get complimented all the time on the color. He’s also does wonderful blow out and styling. Would definitely recommend seeing Keya!

This review has been such a long time coming. My husband has been getting his hair cut by Keya for over a decade and has formed such a great relationship with him that he doesn’t tell me he’s «off to get a haircut» he tells me, «I’m going to go see Keya!» Best part is he comes home looking so perfectly coiffed and proud of pampering himself and not just getting the clippers out. For someone who requires the least amount of maintenance I know and doesn’t care about the holes in his t-shirts, his enthusiasm was infectious and one day I finally decided to try going to Keya myself. And I totally get it – Keya is awesome. Super professional, listens to what you want and has a way of making you feel perfectly at ease. I’m generally not someone who takes to getting their hair cut very well — I’ve had long hair for the longest time and while people might seem to think it is the easiest thing to maintain — just a trim here and there — trust me, it can go very very wrong. I can’t count the number of times I’ve walked out of a salon disappointed and wanting to go home and wash all the gunk they put in it out and style it myself, cursing at the money I just threw away… But enough with the horror stories, this was completely the opposite! Keya took great care in making sure I was comfortable with the cut and length and checked in with me along the way the whole time. Everything, from the time I sat down to getting my hair washed(and massaged properly! yesss!) to sipping on my herbal green tea whilst reading a fashion mag with intermittent non invasive conversation, to the blowdry to the subtle styling, was all laid out to perfection. The salon itself has such a great vibe too and everyone in there is so lovely and friendly. The big test was 2 days after, when I would be washing my newly cut hair myself and seeing what letting it just air-dry would do. I don’t know what little tricks Keya did but whatever it was, it worked — my hair, after more than 4 weeks later, still feels healthy with not a split end in sight. I will definitely be back to see Keya and the rest of the Luxelab crew. They now not only have one but two very loyal customers from this family!

Here today for the first time as my regular hair stylist called in sick. Worst bang trim of my life. Mega-bummed. The person did not ask me if I liked the style. Wearing a hat now, but hoping someone around town can fix this.

Luxelab is a genuinely luxe experience. One gets spoiled fast by the staff here. The commitment to service is high. Everyone does his best to live up to that ideal. There is plenty of activity in the salon, yet the atmosphere always feels calming and private with plenty of space between stations. Keya is the best stylist and colorist I have had. He is ultra-conscientious, talented, and ahead of the fashion curve, but he also understands conservative and natural, which is the result I am looking for. Keya helped me simplify my maintenance with the right cut and products. Under his care my hair is less trouble and looks better longer in between visits. Luxelab is not inexpensive, but the results and quality of service justify the cost in my estimation.

This place is amazing. I came here 4 years ago when I first moved to Pasadena and have only had good experiences. I came here because someone royally messed up my hair color and I needed help! I have brunette hair and wanted a blonde hombre. It came out orange! I walked in and saw thankfully saw Tiffany. Two hours later my hair was perfect! She completely fixed my coloring and gave me an amazing hair cut. She also cuts my husband’s hair. He won’t see anyone else! Waxing– Amy is the best! I had never gotten a bikini wax before because I was a little scared of them. She did a great job and I have been going to see her for over a year now. She also does facials and other treatments. I highly recommend seeing her if you get the chance. Love her :) Pricing– The pricing is very reasonable. Different levels of stylists will cost a little more but its worth it. Just book a cut and color with Tiffany and your good to go! The salon is clean and everyone is super friendly. The receptionist staff is great as well!

LuxeLab Pasadena is wonderful. This is my first time here and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Krystal cut my hair and she is fantastic! I have straight, thick, virgin, Asian hair which she cut masterfully into a very short bob, almost pixie kind of. She listened to everything I wanted, never complained(you have no idea how many hairdressers I’ve had complain about cutting my thick hair!!), and ended up loving my new hair. I have never been more pleased with a haircut. The décor was really cute also, and they offer you tea before your cut. It was a very pleasing experience overall and I am looking forward to coming back!

A few weeks ago, I came to this salon for a cut and balayage. It was the WORST hair experience I’ve had in my life. The stylist who did my hair is new to the salon and is definitely inexperienced. She did not follow any of my instructions given to her. I stressed the importance of my hair color blending so that it would look as natural as possible – which is an expectation that was not met whatsoever. After being there for FIVEHOURS, I told the stylist I needed to leave so she tried to finally speed things up by cutting my hair with the toner still in it(TOTALLYWRONG!!!) I eventually told her to not blow dry my hair because I needed to leave so I didn’t get to see how it turned out until I got home. The entire back of my hair was my natural color, black, with TONS of chunky highlights in the front and in the lowers layers(definitely not what a balayage is supposed to look like). My hair was so ugly that I kept it in a bun until I could get the terrible cut and color fixed. Paying about $ 270 for a HIDEOUS cut and not even balayage, and being there for OVERFIVEHOURS and leaving with wet hair, I am more than disappointed and will never return to this stylist. She was such a great person but I could honestly go on about how terrible she is with hair for days. The salon seems like a great place but my stylist really didn’t not know how to do hair at all. My advice is to make sure to have someone of a higher level than a stylist to do your hair if you are going to go to this salon.

I only have great things to say about this salon. When I first came I had been salon hoping & was referred to Keya to save a bad dye job & just help me get back on the path of repair. I was so shocked at how healthy my hair felt in such little time. I thought I would have to wait years for the damage to be undone, but he worked his magic & my hair is actually the healthiest its ever been. Thank you Keya for always being there to help me! XO The entire staff is amazing from Rachel, Natalie, & Priscilla, who does a great job with my sisters hair. She adores her & she’s a tough 12 year old to please! Thanks LuxLab ;)

It’s been a few years after I wrote my first review. This should be the time to update. I’m still very much in love with my stylist, Keya! I’ve not been good for a while, wanted to go try someone new, or something cheaper; but those never worked out. I’ve had some ‘director’ in a different salon who charged me double the price as Keya’s, but gave me an uneven length sides(don’t try to tell me that was the style. I’m not that dumb to not be able to tell if it was a style, or a mistake!). So I end up went back to Keya and had him to help me fix it. I’ve had perm done in Asia, liked it at the beginning, and it got my hair so dry after a few weeks, so I still gotta go back to Keya and had him to fix it for me. After all those experience, I’ve learnt my lessons. Keya is my final solution. Even it’s been years, I still love every different style he has done for me! Keya, you rock!!!

I’ve gotten my hair cut at Luxelab and they’re amazing! However this is a review for their eyebrow service. I had my brows waxed by Marlene. She was 15 minutes late so she tinted my brows no charge(really sweet). However, I have red hair– darker than strawberry blonde and lighter than auburn– and she practically dyed my eyebrows black. She didn’t trim my brows at all and there are little kinks where hairs are longer than the other ones. She missed some hairs around my brows when she cleaned them up with a tweezer. I won’t be going back to get my eyebrows done.

I moved to South Pasadena from Orange County a few months ago and was so scared to find a new hairdresser. The lady I went to in Orange County did hair for Playboy models and Rockstar girls, so to say I had picky taste is an understatement. I am so happy I found Daniel Diaz at Luxelab. He is so amazing with blonde. He takes the time to understand what look I want to achieve while always keeping my hair’s health a top priority. He is also the sweetest and gives the best scalp massages. I alway leave his chair feeling refreshed. If you’re looking for a change, he’s your guy.

Highly recommend this salon! Go see Daniel Diaz –he is FANTASTIC hair cutter and colorist. I have thick wavy Cuban hair and I have it long with Layers. He does a great job with layers makes them fall beautifully he also does a killer BLOWDRY! And great massage. Most importantly he always listens and because I like long hair keeps it long. But he has MAGIC hands my hair grows sooo fast after i see him. As for color hes done my roots GREATJOB, Ive sent him some of my blonde friends and hes done an amazing job on them. Keeps the blonde beige perfect not orangeish. Hes great at balayage(basically he can paints) the blonde in for more of that natural Sarah Jessica Parker blonde not stripy highlight. And hes a caring and sweet person, doesn’t gossip. Cant say Enough about him. Try him yourself. :)

After going to Mavis religiously for my nails, I started going to her for my eyebrows… and she, of course, is amazing. I highly recommend her for anything! I also started getting my hair cut at Luxelab, by Keya. He is fantastic. I’ve gone to him 4 times now and I get so many compliments on my hair. He actually cares and takes as long as he needs to make my hair perfect!(Today’s trip took 2 hours and 45 minutes — totally worth it!)

OMG I love Keya at Luxelab I’ve been seeing him for a year now and have been meaning to write a review. He is AHMAZING it’s rare to find a stylist that’s great at understanding exactly what you want and guiding you in the right direction if you aren’t sure what you want. Keya is a color artist and his Balyage is like no other, tying the color to the cut for an amazing result every single time. I love you Keya! My hair has never looked better!

So, I think Priscilla need another review on here. I always gush about this place to anyone that compliments my hair, or starts talking about how they need to get their hair done. I have been seeing Priscilla at Luxe for about 5 years now. It used to be Ravissant, still the same, new and better products now. Easy access parking and eateries. But back to the hair, I have gone from 0 – 100 with this girl, she will give you the best advice as to what you can do with the hair, and what she recommends. And if you really want to do something, she wont say no, but she will be realistic! So right now, I’m going platinum blonde, but leaving the roots, because when i get to the blonde i want we will dye it a an icy blue, but she recommended i keep the roots because then it wont look so harsh when it grows out and its low maintenance! yay my fave. It’s been a process, and shes been very helpful along the way with recommending products and treatments. Cant wait to get to where we want my hair! So like, if you’re looking for a stylist, give her a call. Shes super modern, a great talker and washes your hair like OMG there aren’t words. So amazing! Check out the instagram for the salon, she manages that too! I wanted to add a picture of my final product… And here it goes(:

DANIELDIAZ is simply the BEST hairstylist anywhere! A true professional, he is also very welcoming, warm, and kind. From the minute you enter the salon, he makes you feel like you are the most important person in the world. He’s never hurried and always takes the time to evaluate your desires, all the while considering his vision for your hair. This is the best haircut I’ve ever had! I had a bad experience at Luxelab in the past with a stylist who was always pushing products, but it’s really the individual hairstylist who makes the difference, and it simply doesn’t get any better than Daniel! I look forward to many more appointments with Daniel in the days to come!

I absolutely refuse to have my hair done by anybody else. Lynn is THE person to go to for your hair needs. After 2 haircuts I’ve become a devout follower of this incredibly skilled woman. She knows EXACTLY what she’s doing and they don’t rank her as the«Senior» for nothin’! Cost wise, her services are a bit on the steeper end, but she is a veteran after all, and you’ll walk out of there feeling like a million bucks. Also, I think most of us with past horrifying experiences(ahem, Korean ajummas) can agree that the investment is worthwhile. LYNN, if you’re reading… I love you! How we met: A few years ago, my friends and I attended a Unilocal event held at this salon, and my best friend was lucky enough to have won a raffle for a free haircut voucher! She had gotten her hair done not too long before that, so she ended up giving it to me. I asked for about a 6-inch cut, side bangs and because my hair is very full and coarse I also asked if she could tone it down a bit with some subtle layers. She did an EXCELLENT job and it was so much more than I had anticipated for, and words cannot express how graciously my hair grew out months after that. It wasn’t just a good cut and blow dry that lasted a day. I fell in love with my hair more each day; even right out of the shower pre blow dried. Amazing! Just, amazing! It was one of those things where you didn’t know what you were missing out on until you had it. Need I go on and say that this was the ABSOLUTEBEST hair experience I’ve ever had?! EVER. By the time I was due for another cut, I must admit that because I was so impressed by the first experience, I was afraid she wouldn’t have been able to deliver the way she did before. Like… «What if she just got really lucky with my hair the first time?!» Haha, but I was dead wrong. I was just as pleased(and honestly, relieved) if not more. She’s very patient, enthusiastic and takes her time with the techniques being performed. Totally treats it like a piece of art, and clearly is passionate/knowledgable with her practices. Also, Lynn isn’t here to be a saleswoman. I have virgin hair(hasn’t been dyed in years) and wanted a change, but had recommended I leave it as is, because she appreciated my natural color. Encouraged me to sleep on it, and to return if I hadn’t changed my mind.(Incase you’re wondering, I decided not to dye it. I’m super low maintenance with my hair and touching up the roots would’ve been too much trouble for me.) This is a full-blown beauty parlor, so not only do they offer hair services, but they also do nails, facials, peels, wax, electrolysis, and lash extensions!
