Max Lehfeldt, MD

I did my research before I made I decision to go to Dr. Max. My first office visit I was so nervous and didn’t know what to expect. I’ve have had to have work done before and that Dr. wasn’t very nice and talked down to me after surgery. When Dr. Max walked in he was genuinely happy to see me. He sat down and went over everything with me. Never once did he talk down to me or make me feel uncomfortable. Dr. Max was very thorough and made sure I knew everything that was going to happen. The day of my surgery he came in to check on me and once again went over everything and to see how I was doing. After my surgery he visited me in my hospital room to make sure that I was doing well. He also brought me a present! I just love everyone in Dr. Max’s office and Dr. Max! I refer everyone to him! THANK YOU DR. MAX FOR EVERYTHING!

I initially had the same warm and fuzzy feeling about Dr. Lehfeldt that everyone describes here when I went to him for breast reconstruction for my prophylactic double mastectomy (BRCA2).
At the time, I had 32 D droopy breasts and hoped for smaller, uplifted breasts from this life-​changing surgery; I was very happy to be able to avoid breast cancer at all costs. My goal, which I expressed to Dr. Lehfeldt, was to have the least complicated, most effective surgical approach to accomplish this. I was ok losing my nipples, as other doctors had suggested would most likely be necessary. Dr. Lehfeldt strongly insisted, and reassured my husband and me that a nipple sparing method was the best approach to accomplish this result.
The mastectomy was completed, and Dr. Lehfeldt put in 360 cc’s of saline with expanders at the time of the initial reconstruction. This was extremely painful and I never received further fills. I was hoping for relief when I received the exchange surgery. However, to my surprise, at the exchange I received 450 cc implants, which were even more painful. The result was much larger, much droopier, and extremely painful breasts– like water balloons hanging off my chest.
When I went back to him for the pain, Dr. Lehfeldt was dismissive– making me feel there was something wrong with me. In desperation, I went back to my breast surgeon for a consult, who agreed that the extremely large size was causing the pain. My breast surgeon immediately called Dr. Lehfeldt, and assured me that he or his office would contact me the following day. However, it wasn’t until I ended up calling him four business days later that I was able to speak to him.
Even when I tried to give him a second chance to fix the issue, he made me feel like I was a whiney cosmetic patient, never acknowledging my pain or taking any responsibility for what happened. Had he been more forthcoming and human I would have let him fix this problem any way he suggested. Unfortunately, his attitude sent me into a frenzy of plastic surgery consults with many top doctors, all of whom concluded that the pain was from my terrible result, though they all differed on the solution. I lived in a lot of pain for six more months until I could have another surgery to get the issue fixed. I also had a lot of trouble sleeping, even more so than with the first surgery. It was all a terrible experience.
When we obtained Dr. Lehfeldt’s surgery report, he had written that the nipple sparing procedure «would create a challenge.» I would NEVER have consented to a nipple sparing procedure had I known this. I know that even a good doctor can make a mistake, but the bottom line is choosing someone who owns their work when there is a problem, and who is honest with you to begin with. I hope someone can benefit from my emotionally and very physically painful, disappointing experience.

I had my breast augmentation procedure done at Teleos Plastic Surgery. Dr. Lehfeldt and his staff, since day one, have been wonderfully amazing. I did not need to look no further, Dr. Lehfeldt was my first and last choice. Words can not express how deeply satisfied, and content I am with the results. Dr. Lehfeldt is a very gifted surgeon, and takes care of his patients with the up most consideration. I highly recommend Teleos Plastic Surgery.

It’s hard to write anything but a 5 star review for Dr. Max’s professionalism and warm personality. Staff was also super. The after care people they recommended were awful. That’s not the Dr.‘s fault, of course. Recovery was definitely harder and longer due to that poor care. But, more importantly, my jaw area lift, a partial face lift so to speak, is not the result I’d hoped for. I’m left with a bit of lumpiness and permanent numbness from my ears and mid cheek down to my chin and all the way down the neck. I’m told that’s a rarity, to be sure. Just my bad luck that this has happened. I sure wish I could take the entire thing back. Vanity and the desire to slow down the aging process is the culprit, I know.

Hang on — this is going to be a long one!
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lehfeldt, his staff and his practice. First impression: his office is clean, stylish but not pretentious, and his front office staff are professional, efficient, warm and caring. His surgical assistant, Vangie, is caring and thorough, and I feel just as comfortable seeing her as I do seeing Dr. Lehfeldt.
But the heart and soul of the practice is the doctor, and Dr. Max truly puts his heart and soul into caring for his patients. I presented him with (I think) a fairly challenging medical history, looking for reconstruction 10 years after a double mastectomy. I was immediately reassured by his confidence and competence, but what won me over was his warmth. He genuinely went above and beyond for me — I can tell by the results.
BTW — not only did my oncologist recommend him — I can’t count the number of nurses at the hospital who rave about him and his work. From pre-​op all through my recovery there, I met women who had been helped by him, or who had relatives he had helped. Anyone who is so trusted by his colleagues, and the staff with whom he works, has my complete confidence.
I am beyond elated that I was fortunate enough to find his practice. His type of medicine heals the emotional damage as well as the physical scars that life leaves with us.

I met Dr. Lehfeldt at a difficult and scary time in my life. I had already interviewed another plastic surgeon, and Dr. Lehfeldt’s skill, intelligent appraisal, AND incredible bedside manner immediately were apparent. He was night and day from the first doctor I met, and I’m so happy I went with Dr. Lehfeldt. I can’t say enough about him. He’s very kind, really skilled, supremely intelligent, and completely dedicated. He’s the doctor you want in your corner. He’s fabulous. Fantastic staff too — responsive, helpful, and accommodating.

Dr. Max and his team are amazing. From the moment I walked in I was warmly greeted and immediately felt comfortable. They answered all my questions and their recommendations were perfect for my needs. I can’t wait to go back and receive some of their great services!

Dr. Max Lehfeldt and staff are wonderful!!! Every encounter with Teleos Plastic Surgery is 100% professional, friendly, helpful, and everyone is very very knowledgeable. I met with Dr. Lehfeldt for a complementary detailed consultation. He took his time and answered all of my questions regaurding the new INSPIRA implants, Kybella and SmartLipo. During my evaluation we reviewed my 3D pictures and simulations. He provided the best treatment plan and recommendation plan that I am 100% comfortable with. I am very excited for my pre-​op! I will post a update post procedure. :)

I cannot recommend Dr. Lehfeldt highly enough. I had breast augmentation surgery by a great doctor in NYC in 2002 that I ultimately ended up unhappy with for personal reasons, including an impetuous decision to have the operation in the first place. As a result of a recent malignant melanoma diagnosis/​subsequent surgery and a series of abnormal mammograms, I decided earlier this year to have the implants removed. After researching and following up on referrals from my oncologist and friends, I saw my top three surgeon choices for consultations (Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Burbank). All advised against complete implant removal and instead recommended smaller implants, likely with a lift. Despite having paid significant fees for each consultation, I didn’t feel «right» about proceeding with any of the surgeons and went back to researching other doctors — and found Dr. Lehfeldt.
I currently work for the #5 children’s hospital in the US and was at the #4 cancer institute in the country before moving to LA, so I’m relatively knowledgeable about patient care, scientific research, physician/​academic medical appointments, recruiting for top doctors, etc. In addition to his many certifications and exclusive surgery society memberships, here’s what most stood out to me when reviewing Dr. Lehfeldt:
— His stellar education, including an undergrad honors degree from Yale with a major in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry (hugely important experience to have in the medical field now), as well as his University of Southern California-​Keck School of Medicine degree and residency.
— The fact that he is currently publishing papers in top medical journals — he truly is on the «cutting edge» of his field and therefore being published in the journals other doctors read. He actually co-​authored an article just recently with the surgeon who performed my surgery in 2002 (I did my research then for the best doctor I could find too).
— He was part of the team of specialists that successfully separated conjoined twin girls after 25 hours of surgery at the hospital where I work. I know some of the other brilliant doctors that participated in that remarkable operation, and perhaps more importantly — have met the two young girls. They’re doing great and now 13 or 14.
That said, I’ve had a wonderful experience with Dr. Lehfeldt from the initial consultation to today — three months after my surgery in April. He too advised against full implant removal, and gave me the option of seeing what I’d look like without them by actually deflating/​draining my old implants before moving forward with surgery. This absolutely helped inform my decision re: surgery in that I then knew for sure I didn’t want to just have them removed, and wouldn’t wonder if I’d made a decision I wasn’t comfortable with in the long run as I had in 2002. We decided on smaller implants and a lift, and he actually surprised me in the recovery room when I woke up — letting me know that I didn’t need the lift after all. While he determined that based on my individual situation, I also believe it wasn’t necessary because of his expertise and state of the art techniques. He apparently «stapled up» one of my breasts while making his decision in the OR, and we laughed in my first post-​surgery appointment when he told me what the little mark was on the one breast — it disappeared quickly, and the scars themselves are now pretty tiny. Those extra steps — his added time and thoughtfulness, decisions made first and foremost for my care and well-​being (vs. his time and money) — made such a difference in my whole attitude approaching surgery and how I feel now… so very happy and grateful to Dr. Lehfeldt.

Dr. Lehfeldt is kind, nice, patient and proffesional! At your consultation you will know exactly what sets him apart from the rest. The office is beautiful and welcoming. The staff, patient coordinators, nurses and assistants are very helpful at all times.

Dr Lehfeldt and his staff are wonderful. I had a breast augmentation and liposuction 2 months ago and exstatic with the results. He is amazing and really cares about his patients and very passionate about what he does. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

For 13 years, I lived with a failed bilateral breast reconstruction post mastectomy. After a massive leak of my right implant was diagnosed in the spring of 2014, I received recommendations from a breast specialist physician to see a new plastic surgeon. I chose Dr. Lehfeldt and am very glad I did. Considering the mess he had to work with when he performed my surgery to remove both implants and perform a new bilateral reconstruction using appropriate implants, he did a marvelous job. Dr. Lehfeldt has gentle bedside manners, exudes a sincere caring for the patient, and is a perfectionist. He cautioned me that the results would not be perfect, but that the overall result would be significantly improved. I appreciate his honesty. I can say that I no longer look disfigured and I am happy with the results. I know Dr. Lehfeldt did his very best and I am very grateful for his skills and expertise. I give him a 5+ star rating.
I have personally complimented his kind and professional staff. Compared to my first reconstruction experience, Dr. Lehfeldt and his staff are truly a breath of fresh air. I would recommend Dr. Lehfeldt in a heartbeat.

I came to Dr. Max after multiple surgeries for breast cancer reconstruction with a previous PS. I was left with unfavorable results, upset and of course devastated. I did consult with other plastic surgeons before coming to Dr. Max.
Dr. Max was very honest and upfront with what he can or cannot do to help correct my situation that I came to him with, considering what he had to work with. He took his time to explain every specific detail in the work needed to correct my past results.

Dr. Max Lehfeldt is fantastic! My wife recently cut her face on a car door. I called a colleague of mine (I am also a physician) who knows Dr. Lehfeldt personally. His wife called me back and said that he was more than willing to help out. In a few short minutes, Dr. Lehfeldt came to his personal office (which is immaculate btw), opened it up, and sutured my wife’s face. He did a fantastic job and his wife has been great in asking how my wife’s recovery has been! I can’t say enough positive things about the experience. He went above and beyond anything we could have hoped for. If you’re looking for a quality Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Lehfeldt is the one for you!

Doctor Max Lehfeldt is the MAN!
I was referred to Dr. Lehfeldt by the grace of God. I had a TRAM flap & Breast Recon, that went wrong in a previous surgery. Three surgeon interviews later, and I was on my last interview when I met Dr. Lehfeldt, and his staff. His office is decorated really nice, and clean! The girls that work in the front have always been super nice, and VERY accommodating. I came to Dr. Lehfeldt broken, and very unhappy with the results of the failed surgery, so was very skeptical. Dr. Lehfeldt was always very professional, and seemed very knowledgeable. He gave me a realistic opinion, that he knew I would be happy with the results, but he always reminded me that I must keep in mind that I can’t have unrealistic thoughts on what the outcome will be, but he can assure that I will be pleased with results. A honest opinion like this goes far in my book, after all that I went though. It’s been over a year and a half, and I’ve had 3 surgeries with Dr. Lehfeldt (and a 4^th scheduled soon), I’m completely 110% satisfied with the results. My body has never looked this good. I’ve shed happy tears seeing the progress, working along side with Dr. Max. I would HIGHLY recommend Doctor Max Lehfeldt to anyone seeking a highly skilled plastic surgeon. I owe him everything! My wife had been wanting to have a tummy tuck and lipo for years…
She was fortunate enough to find Dr. Max.
His office has a comfortable and down-​to-​earth feel; everyone there is very nice.
He takes great pride in his work, has the latest technology and methods, and welcomes any questions she has.
She went into surgery without any questions. My wife was a little bit nervous the day of the procedure and Dr. Lehfeldt took the time to reassure her.
Safety is his top priority and we like that!
Her recovery has gone very well. With his high level of expertise and positive outlook, she is almost two months post-​op and is healing quite nicely.

They are very friendly and accomodating. Super professional and always on time with their appointments! I was referred to Dr. Lehfedlt after having an intrusive surgery that left me with a bad scar. He was able to fit me into his schedule and his team took care of all my documentation with my insurance. My surgery was a sucess, however again my body began to scar and I am now doing follow up sessions. His team have been more than helpful and always made me feel comfortable.
Only downside is that I frequently get calls to reschedule my apointment due to conflicting schedules. I wish that they can keep to their appointments especially when I book months in advance…
