Old Pasadena Collection Apartments

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. I am interested in moving at the Old Pasadena Collect. The reason is because the manager I talked to today was very friendly and easy to talk to. She spent time with me and answered my questions and put me on the list to call when an apartment comes available in my time frame. So far so good. Also, looking at the pictures of the apartments they look modern and upgraded. and the views out the windows and beautiful. The Pasadena skyline and the mountain views are beautiful. I am hoping this works out for me. More to write about if I actually move in

I remember when we first started looking at apartments the initial bad reviews deterred us from even touring at the old pasadena collection. Lucky for us nothing in the area caught our eye and in desperation we decided to take a look.
Our main needs were met: washer/​dryer in the unit, short walk to old town, quiet area, and no section 8 housing (extremely hard to find in pasadena). We ended up getting a 2 bedroom there because it wasn’t much more than a 1 bedroom and came with 2 parking spaces. Sure the building is not new but it has a lot more charm and a more homey feeling. Any time I needed any maintenance it would be fixed in a timely manner. I remember one time the light outside our apartment went out and before I had a chance to inform them, it was already fixed! The leasing office was AMAZING also!
It’s so close to all the shops, resturants, and fun of old town. It was so nice to not have to worry about metered parking and the traffic of old town. I used to walk to yogaworks, and it was just a short drive to the rosebowl for a quick run. I honestly miss this apartment so much and if I didn’t move for work I would go back in a heartbeat.

Went to visit a friend this is were she move .I guess it nice it could be better there is lots of dog parks around and shopping is very close the best thing I can say about her location is all the places she can walk and eat love that.

Do not lease here! Building and units are poorly maintained. Elevator is very slow. Plumbing issues for most residents. Fire alarms go off regularly. No trash cans in building, but LOTS of trash.
Dogs barking constantly. The manager Janett is very rude. All maintenance issues are your fault. I’ve seen her yell at residents. She will not fix your requests in a timely manner. Spend your money elsewhere. Im getting out as soon as possible!

**For experience during initial consultation**
Stacy was incredibly easy to deal with and she was super nice. She explained details of various rooms and the amenities clearly. There was a great deal for 2 bdrms, but we ended up not taking it only because of the driving distance to work. However, Stacy was wonderful!

Things just get better an better. Love the staff and overall experience of living here.

Response to the non stop dog barking from 2 dogs that neighbors on 3^rd floor own, leave sliders open all day all night was WE should shut our windows or move out, even though their pet agreement says that dog barking is not allowed– place caters to dog owners– dog pee in elevator, Dog poop in parking garage. Dogs barked above us, next to us and under us– management does not assist. walls paper thin. Like the neighborhood but leaving due to horrible manager– they’ll probably screw us out of deposit based on other reviews– $ 2500/​month for 800 sq. Ft! Btw– visitor parking IS always full!!!

The first year we lived here was great. The office staff was very friendly and attentive, and I always looked forward to coming home.
When the new office management took over, things got progressively worse, and we were forced to move.
Here’s a brief list of my complaints in an attempt to be concise:
— Replaced Eris, perhaps the nicest and most responsive leasing rep I have ever met. She even helped us negotiate a free second parking spot without us asking.
— The palermo building is surrounded by bars, and the windows are poorly sealed single pane glass. It’s really really noisy on the weekends.
— Maintenance under the new management is shoddy at best. The lobby is slowly deteriorating into a disgusting grime magnet, the elevator is ALWAYS broken. The trash room is disgusting and there are no trash cans AT ALL in the parking garage. People just leave piles of garbage around now.
— The drainage/​rain gutters are terrible. Our upstairs neighbors balcony actually spewed dirty disgusting water onto our patio furniture from 7 feet in the air whenever water was introduced. It made our balcony unusable. The people above us had a dog at one point and it peed out there… guess what happened? I got peed on and so did all my outdoor upholstery.
— Finally, when we moved out, we left the apartment MUCH cleaner than it was when we moved in. They still charged us $ 400 for cleaning, and $ 200 for a microwave that was clearly broken by maintenance after we had moved out. The office staff did a walk through with us before we handed in our keys, and everything was in tip top. They even commented that it was the cleanest move-​out they had ever seen. It was show-​ready. Still they kept most of our deposit. In my book, that’s stealing.
— Really really rude. They will not negotiate with you on anything. They would even let me REQUEST to change my parking spot. Keep in mind, it was the only one available when we moved in, and it was very hard to get in and out of. When the building was mostly empty, I asked to change it, with a resounding ABSOLUTELY NOT. They didn’t even let me finish my sentence. My lease was up, and I was deciding whether or not to stay.

Well. I have been waiting for my final deposit check before I wrote this. It came to my new apartment today– and thus, here goes.
THE NEW MANAGEMENT IS HORRIBLE! Same company (JSM) — but the people that manage it are unreasonable, lazy, and overly strict. Most people in these buildings are paying around $ 2300. and for that price– I expect some understanding and respect. The elevator breaks all the time in Palermo. I use a wheelchair for mobility, and the building couldn’t care less about the continuing elevator issues. They keep getting the ‘cheap fix’ for the elevator. The management are also Nazi’s about the garage door openers. They refused to give me an extra one, even after I told them I was recovering from surgery and wanted to give one to the post-​op nurse that was coming to check on my incision. RIDICULOUS! That was it for me– I left.
Positives about living there for 3 years– the nice people and the neighborhood. However, move to Westgate down the street on Delacey. Better bargain and management. :)
