Principals Bob Hingston and Diane Fortner-​Hingston work diligently for the senior home care needs of the Crescenta and San Gabriel Valleys. They firmly believe that our precious seniors deserve quality homecare in Pasadena CA that allows them to live independently, securely and joyfully.

The Hingston family is the third generation to be raised in the Crescenta Valley. We are extremely proud of our four adult children and grandchildren. Bob’s father lives nearby and Diane’s parents live in San Marcos, California.

After dealing with an at-​home caregiving company that ended up causing me more stress than relief, Right at Home has been a breath of fresh air.
My father-​in-​law is at the end stages of his battle with cancer, but not yet eligible for round-​the-​clock hospice care. However, it is too much for us to handle individually so we need the help of caretakers to supplement what hospice is able to provide.
They have been amazing from start to finish. They do have their caretakers check in and out upon arrival and departure via a telephony system tied to our home phone so that there is never any question as to when they were on the clock. So far we have had two caregivers who have both been amazing and helpful. One even offered to take our dog for a walk while hospice was doing their visit since she noticed our poor dog was getting anxious. THANK YOU! She also told us that my father-in-law’s mouth was looking dry and for us to ask hospice for some mouth swabs to help keep his mouth moisturized. Again, THANK YOU for looking out for him and us and for trying to make our lives easier. These are just two small examples of many.
We’ve only had two visits thus far but I am so grateful for their help and for providing care that allows us to rest easy rather than worry more, and for helping to make my father in law as comfortable as possible.

I’ll will try and get back to a more detailed review in the future, but for now I’d just like to say I feel very comfortable recommending Right At Home — Pasadena for your loved ones. They took very good care of us and never made me feel like a huge pain in their side (even when I was) when I had to change the schedule many times over. They always just assured me they were happy to be there for me and my mother. From the first day (as I sobbed in Renee’s office) I felt taken care of and a weight lifted knowing I found someone I could trust to help with my mom’s care.

We had 24 hour Right at Home care for the last 6 months of my mom’s life. She was living in a nursing home, and later one, Hospice got involved. My mother’s care was complicated. She had severe dementia and became bed-​ridden.
My experience with Right-​at-​Home was mixed. On the one hand, we had some wonderful caregivers who were very attentive to my mother and seemed to genuinely care about her. I will always feel grateful to those caregivers. On the other hand, Right at Home could not provide my mother with consistent people. At one point, they assigned 14 different staff members to cover 21 8-​hr shifts! The staff also varied in conscientiousness and overall knowledge, ranging from those who really studied her history to those who knew the bare minimums and just came and went, relying on the Nursing staff and later, Hospice to do the «heavy lifting.» I was eventually able to get some regularity (after much pleading) but never were there fewer than 10 caregivers in a week.
I don’t have any basis for comparison — maybe all or most senior care organizations have to juggle multiple people for multiple time slots. But when you’re dying of a dementia-​related illness, there is nothing more important than having some regularity and predictability in your life, at least regarding the faces you see every day.

A family member was recently released from a stay at the Huntington Hospital in Pasadena. Upon her release, I had to secure 24-​hour care for our loved one and therefore, arranged for an assisted living facility for shorter «respite care» while she gained back her strength. Fortunately, the hospital gave me the number for «Right at Home». From my first phone call I was not only treated with compassion but they also recognized the sense of urgency needed to transition our family member. The process was seamless and a companion/​sitter was right on time when the patient arrived to her temporary «home» at the facility. We first arranged for 24-​hr. care (3-​shifts) to make certain the patient did not fall. As she regained her strength, we were able to adjust the hours per the patient’s needs. The staff LISTENS and they do everything possible to make the patient comfortable and put all the family at ease. When the patient returns to her own apartment, we will continue to arrange companion/​sitter care for at least 4 hrs. daily as our family member just LOVED every single caregiver that was sent, raved about their individual personalities, friendliness and she looked forward to their visits and assistance. I would highly recommend this service. My main contact was Lynne Coyer but trust me, everyone I spoke with was professional, courteous and had the patient’s welfare at the forefront. We had tried several caregiving services, some recomended by the hospital after my mother had a broken hip. However, it was not until we began using Right At Home that we found a company that we felt comfortable with. Right At Home is professional and reliable — traits we had difficulty finding in several other companies. Right At Home matches up caregivers well and is responsive when last minute changes need to be made to our schedule. The office staff is also caring and supportive. We have been impressed with their high level of customer service both for my mother and for us. Right At Home has well-​trained caregivers who can provide the level of care your loved one needs. They are caring and compassionate. We highly recommend this company! We can’t say enough wonderful things about them!
