I drove past Rocket Fizz a couple weeks ago because of the construction on the main streets. And had I not taken that detour, I would’ve never noticed this place. It’s a little hidden because of the trees and it’s location, but it’s totally worth the extra steps from the parking structure. I stopped by a couple days ago while shopping to buy myself a refreshing drink. I also wanted to get something for my cola obsessed bf. I’m a bit of an enabler. But it’s ok.
The store is so organized a colorful. It really is inviting. The cashier helped me pick out two yummy drinks. I liked their selection of tin signs, but sadly, I have no place to put them so I had to pass.
I would def. come by again!

All things sugar are sold here, but some of the items are over priced. They have a nice collection of unique candies you can’t find at the regular local store.

This place embodies cool. If only I consumed large quantities of sugar, or knew people who did. Still, the place brings a lot of smiles, offers quirky merchandise, and is the perfect place to find specialty items for that perfect person on your list. Unique, fun, sweet.

I’ve been to a few locations and they seem pretty organized and standardized. Unique bottled sodas. My current favorite is an almond crème. Lots of nostalgic candies, novelty tins and cardboard stand ups.
There was only one guy on staff who wasn’t really knowledgable on too many flavors– only pointed out top sellers and ones he has tried (not many)
Bought our 6 pops and headed to more shops in the area.

One thing I shouldn’t have done here … Parked at the 15 minute meter in front of the store. I need at least 30 min inside … Or 45 … Or more

I filled up one of the small bags for $ 4.99 all the way to the top! Filled it with taffy, caramel, chupa chups, coffee candies *happy*
They have an aisle filled with different kind of Kit Kats. AND A BACON SECTION! Hilarious and Fun! And the different soda! Yumm!
So yes I should’ve parked at the structure for 90 min instead of dashing like mad for 15 min inside the store.

I’ve been wanting to check this place out so I finally decided to swing by after the gym (I deserve it after a two hour workout!). I walked right into sweets heaven and into childhood! I like it that it’s small so it’s now overwhelming. I was amazed and surprised with the goodies they have in here, from vintage to goodies from all over the world, ie. Bueno hazelnut and milk chocolates… They have old fashioned sodas, which I love (ahem, cream soda and ginger beer)! And the service… Oh my, friendly without being overbearing! Definitely going back to browse more goodies… I’ll try to be good and wait until I ran out of the choco stash I purchased. :)

I like coming to this store just to look at what candies and bottled drinks are here. Prices for items here are a bit pricey, so why would you ever purchase anything you ask? Well this store is unique in which they offer candies that are hard to find and bring good ol’ memories of nostalgia. There really are a ton of different types of candies here (chocolate, lollipops, hard candies, chewy candies, etc) and interesting different flavors of sodas here (dog drool for one).
Anyways, the last time I came here, a pregnant woman and a man were in there with a photographer having a photo shoot. The employees in the store didn’t seem to mind, which I thought was cool. And since this store isn’t that big, it would be hard for the future parents to be and the photographer to be subtle. That just gave me a thought in the back of my mind for a future potential photo shoot in this place (and perhaps you now that you have read my review).
Overall, this place is a fun store to come and browse through while you walk the streets of Old Town. By the way, you can either park on the street (watch the signs about the time limit, also it is metered parking, but free after 6 pm I think) or in one of the parking structures around (1^st 90 minutes are free in almost any of the parking structures around old town).

After meeting up with my Dad for lunch in the Pasadena area yesterday we stumbled across this Rocket Fizz location and I knew I had to check it out. After eating lunch and making our way across the street we came across a sign on the door that said back in 10 minutes. During our agonizing wait a fairly decent group on onlookers appeared and gathered in line also eagerly anticipating the return of the shop worker to reopen its doors.
After close to a 7 minute wait the worker returned from the bank and reopened the door and we made our way in. What immediately caught my attention was the size of the store which is significantly smaller than the Irvine Spectrum location that I normally frequent. They have many of the same old fashioned soda and candy options I am accustomed to find but was a bit disappointed to see that they were sold out of the Bacon flavored soda as we had a member of our group looking for it as a gift. The other thing I noticed off the bat was that the prices of the soda’s and candy themselves were marked up a bit from what I am used to paying. I guess when in Pasadena you get Pasadena premium pricing (a bit disappointing overall).
After about 10 minutes or so looking in the store we walked out with a Dr. Browns Black Cherry soda, a Calypso Black Cherry Lemonade and a Virgil’s Special Edition Root Beer with Bavarian Nutmeg (soooo goood) for around $ 12. My dad who had never been to this store or even heard of it prior to this visit was taken aback a bit by the nostalgic items on the shelves and quickly found himself also with a basket in hand filled with several soda and candy options of yesteryear. Overall this was a good location and had pretty much everything I was looking for but I spent $ 2 – 3 more than I normally would.
The Pasadena store does feature a frequent buyers program and gives you a stamp for every soda purchased and you will receive one free after every 8 purchased so I will need to visit this location again to take full advantage of the deal. If you are in the Pasadena area definitely check this place out as the nostalgia factor alone is worth the trip and the options are bountiful, delicious and unique.

First time I came was fall of 12′ looking for green tea kit kats. Didn’t have them then. Forgot about it till a friend posted a pic of some their friend had brought back from Japan. So I said I gotta try again. Called up Fizz and there they iz! I bought 2 and the «Asian guy» behind the counter, as he likes to be called lol said that will be $ 8 something. That’s with the 10% off Unilocal discount. I paused but still forked over the dough. I want to come back when they get the peanut butter ones :-) No buying regular ones so I can save up.

— Most legit selection of root beer, cream soda, and ginger ale I’ve ever seen.
— The old school vibe makes you feel like grease lighting is about to come on the speakers.
— Free taffy while your in the store.
— Awesome pictures for sale — a few old concert posters in the selection that were appealing.

I had no idea there was a Rocket Fizz in Pasadena!
We came in after dinner and decided to get a soda and maybe some candy. Candies seem over priced. The sodas have been sitting there for a while since most of them had dust on them. There is a nice selection of interesting sodas, got a ginger ale, haven’t tried it yet. Some sodas are refrigerated, if you want one cold, I’d suggest to check the refrigerated ones first.
Service was completely mute. Didn’t say one word.

What can I say about Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop that hasn’t already been said? Nothing. Its the most amazing, old-​timey candy shop in LA. So much delicious candy, hard to find candy, and make you cringe but photo worthy candy.
As for the customer service: don’t bother me when I’m pigging out! And they didn’t… Why do people want someone in their face asking if they need help when they are secretly stocking up on empty calories that will only cause them to work harder at the gym? I personally don’t need that self-​projected, probably doesn’t exist in reality judgment. But for those of you who are slightly less neurotic than me, you may want someone to cheerfully say «How are you, can I help find any buffalo wing flavored soda?» and you may not get it. However, this place is completely adorable and full of fun treats.

Randomly found this place after eating in Old Pasadena. They have so many different types of candy and soda that it’s really hard to decide what to get! I decided on a root beer which took awhile since they had about 30 different kinds.
I liked how they had a section for Japanese candy, British candy (Flake! and other Cadbury items) and stuff from Europe like Kinderjoy. They also have a section just for taffy and you can fill up a small or large bag for a set price, they don’t weigh it! Awesome selection, if i’m in the area i’ll definitely come back for some legit candy =)

We wandered into Rocket FIzz one afternoon, which is located on a quiet stretch of Green Street in Old Town Pasadena. It is a person with a sweet tooth’s dream, packed with sodas and candies. Some of the items are old timey products but just as many, if not more, are just cool and interesting modern sodas and candies.
For candies, I saw a ton of Kinder brand products. For those who like Asian treats, there were Hi-​Chews of all different flavors as well as the flavored Kit Kats sold across Asia.
We zeroed in on the sodas, which you buy by the bottle. John asked for recommendations for root beer and the employee working that day was ready with opinions, which I appreciated. He was quick with his personal favorites and John picked two — the JohnnyKnockers, that was deep and rich with a caramel flavore, and the Bundeberg, which was light and citrusy.
Based on my requests the salesperson highly recommended the Bundeberg Pink Grapefruit soda for fruity drinks. It was delicious, with the sweet grapefruit fragrance but a tinge of the bitter oils. I wanted a Ginger Ale as well, but with the caveat that I didn’t really like strong ginger flavors (think, Canada Dry instead of Bundeberg Ginger). With my restrictions in mind, he steered me towards the Americana Ginger Ale, which was great, almost like 7 up and Ginger ale mixed together.
Our little bag of goodies wasn’t cheap, totaling $ 10 or so but it was a lot of fun. I went back just a few days later to pick up 2 more bottles of the Bundeberg fruit sodas in Peachee and Blood Orange. These are full sugar drinks so although I won’t be coming here all the time, they are a treat.

This place is definitely a theme park of candies and reminded me of what Willy Wonka’s factory or store front would be like. It’s resplendent and colorful ambiance was quite enticing to the eyes due to the showcasing of different types of sugar-​filled goodies.
Walking in one day, I was transfixed by all the possibilities here as I wandered around observing all the candies and soda drinks that were available. I was mentally whisked away to former years when life was carefree and all that mattered was playing with friends and scraping up a few coinage so that you could go to the local convenient store to purchase some treats with your cohorts.
They carry an impressive array of mostly American soda pop and candies although there were foreign representatives as well but not as plentiful. It was fun to walk around looking at the different items and since it was a hot day, I wanted to purchase a soft drink to quench my thirst as well as have some respite from the heat in the cool air conditioned environment.
I was directed to the refrigerated section where several types of soda were displayed. The attendant assisted me and suggested things like cream soda and I asked if there were any strawberry-​flavored beverages. He pointed out a few choices and I decided on a bottle labeled Sprecher which happened to be made in Wisconsin. I had never heard of this name brand before so I decided this would do and quickly paid for my drink which came to $ 2.38 which I thought was a little bit on the high side but I figured was worth it for the experience.
It wasn’t until I was outside when I was finally able to check-​in the the store on Unilocal did I find there was a 10% discount for Unilocal Check-​ins. It was a bit aggravating since I kept trying to check in previously but for some irritating reason, my Unilocal app wouldn’t recognize my location which has happened to me on several occasions so I just gave up. Unilocal,please remedy this because this just plain sucks!
Anyways, I would say coming here is an enjoyable experience as you can relive nostalgic days of innocence while satisfying your sweet tooth at the same time. I would say fun for kids but given the obesity epidemic in America, I’d quite frankly suggest caution.

I’m eating my strawberry milkshake flavored Whoppers® that I purchased from Rocket Fizz as I write this, so forgive me if I sound a tad bias, but this place is AWESOME!
Rocket Fizz is my every childhood dream and fantasy rolled up into one candy-​coated, rainbow sprinkled package.
After a lackluster experience at Gyu-​Kaku, I saw the twinkling lights across the street calling my name. On the inside, it’s part Katy Perry music video, part novelty store and part Sanrio® shop – evident by Asian favorites: Pocky, Hello Panda, White Rabbit and an entire line of Hello Kitty candy!
One thing you’ll notice right away is that there’s something for everyone. You’ll see young and old «oooh,» «ahhh,» and shout «remember these?!» from every corner of the store as sweet memories flood back. My personal fave: Fun Dips® — with the original grape, cherry and lime flavors and not the nasty blue apple. Speaking of Fun Dips, I always wondered why they only gave 2 Fun Sticks when there were 3 flavors. It’s like the 8 hot dogs problem with only 6 buns in the packaging. But I digress…
Aside from cross-​generational candy, they have a pretty extensive soda pop offering from benign to extreme flavors like Buffalo Wing, PBnJ, Sweet Corn and more Jelly Belly flavors than ought to be legal.
Needless to say, I was delighted and walked away with my strawberry Whoppers®, Fun Dip®, Pop Rocks®, a Jelly Belly Cherry Pop to wash it down and the memory of my mom saying what would happen if I ate too much candy. It did, and it was worth every bite.
