Tailoring Plus

Been coming here for years and they do very good work. I took my husbands pants in to be tapered and it came out perfect. I also had a bridesmaid dress altered and I was very pleased with the result. The owners are very talented and there pricing is reasonable. Will definitely continue to come here.

Tailoring Plus is the only tailoring place I go to and trust. I moved out of the Pasadena area recently and I STILL commute over 40 minutes for the service they provide. I’ve had everything from the length of pants altered, to dresses and gowns let out or tightened, to pillow covers sewed out of my favorite fabrics to match my furniture at home. The employees are extremely polite and have always finished sooner than they estimated. If you want a reliable tailor that will deliver EXACTLY what you are asking for I would strongly recommend Tailoring Plus.

I came here because of the reviews and it close to my house. I was dealing with the lady and she seemed to know what she was doing. When i came back to pick it up I dealt with a very abrupt mean man. When i tried on my jacket it was not what i asked for to be done and still fit terrible. I asked the man why it wasn’t done the way I asked?, he said it was.
When I complained he told me in order to do what I wanted done, it would have cost 80 $. He didn’t want to honor his work so he made up some lie, even though the lady told me she was going to do this from the beginning and my jacket would be perfect.
While I was there the man also took a phone call and he blatantly lied and told someone they store was moving to Beverly HIlls. Once again as he didn’t want to honor his work or word.
This place is terrible and the man is a huge shyster. They do not honor there work even though they didn’t do the job right. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I think the rude old man should never be trusted to talk to customers.

I have been coming here for many years, 14 to be exact. This is by far the best tailor I have ever been to. They are not only professional at all times but they do wonderful work. I have had them make me curtains, seat covers… you name it and they have all been done to perfection. If you need something right away they make a point of making sure you get it. I highly recommend Tailoring Plus.

I had a bad experience here last year. I took some pants in — nothing fancy, just some cotton slacks that needed to be shortened. The hem was quite wide so I asked the wife how they would stitch it when they shortened it because there would be a dark line where the original thread was located. She told me that restitching it along the thread line wasn’t ideal because it wouldn’t match exactly, but then we talked and agreed that would be the best way to do it as I was fine with the line showing a little bit rather than a lot.
I come to pick up my pants and they did exactly what we decided not to do. There was a new hem line and and above that a really dark line all the way around where the original hem line had been. Not okay. But then when I pointed this out to the husband, he started arguing with me (the wife wasn’t there) and telling me that was how it should have been done. I told him several times that I’d talked with his wife and that wasn’t what we had agreed upon. I basically had to insist that he do it the other way and I never got so much as an acknowledgment that they screwed up.
Really crappy customer service and not worth it at all. I found another tailor who charges a bit more, but does better work and doesn’t argue with me (so annoying).

I really don’t like dropping stars, but I’m going to have to do so for Tailoring Plus.
My initial experiences at Tailoring Plus were all positive. I’ve since gone back at least a dozen times, with a few items each time, and the level of detail they put in the work has simply dropped off. At the same time, the price has slowly gone up, which doesn’t quite make sense to me.
Shirts started at $ 10 to bring in the sides and the arms to an absolute sheer fit. They would pin it up again to my requests and we wouldn’t agree to work until I was satisfied with the mock-​up. Unfortunately, this no longer seems to be the case. The last time I went in there, I took a single shirt, and explained how I want it to fit. In went the pins, and then I was sent to the dressing room to take it off. But somehow, it didn’t look right. Still too baggy. Once they got off the phone call they were on, I explained that I want it brought in more. They insisted it was fine. I trusted their judgment. I shouldn’t have.
The quality of work has slowly degraded, and the last shirt had to be taken to another spot in order to get it re-​tapered as I had requested. Additionally, the cost per shirt has went up from $ 10 to $ 12… then to $ 15. One shirt cost me $ 18 (not sure what was so special about that one).
I hate to say this, but I feel like I may have been too easy-​going of a customer. I never set firm dates, I generally take their advice, I don’t ask about prices at any point, and I generally just show up and walk out as fast as possible. I feel that they’re beginning to take that as an invitation to treat me as a he’ll-stick-around-anyway-so-no-need-to-bother-with-the-best-effort type of customer. Bait and switched? It would seem so.
It would appear that I’m on the hunt for a new local tailor again.

George is an incredibly nice, understanding man with a definite knack for tailoring. I went into Tailoring Plus on a Tuesday with a full suit and dress shirt, both of which needed extensive tailoring and dry cleaning. I told him that, if possible, I needed the work completed by Friday since I had a job interview on Saturday. «Not a problem,» George said, «we’ll take care of you.»
Sure enough, he did. The alterations performed on my shirt, pants and suit-​jacket were transformative– competent, thorough artistry went into the seam work, and there are no noticeable ridges, edges or gaps on any article of clothing. In all, a wonderful experience. Decent prices as well.

I’ve been here twice– once when the man was there (hemming up a bridesmaid dress) and once when the woman was there (hemming up and decreasing the size of a wedding dress). I think the place is amazing and nicely priced. I was a little concerned about the wedding dress b/​c other people warned about the lady, but she did a wonderful job. When I went to pick it up, another bride was also picking up her dress, and she also seemed very happy with her dress when she tried it on. I will continue to give this place my business.

They butchered my dress. I was in town for a wedding, needed to get a silk dress shortened — they did a horrible job, I’m sorry I paid them for it. The hem was totally uneven and made a straight dress look like a big bell flare.
I ended up having to find a pro seamstress on short notice to try to fix it. She said because the technique they used was *completely wrong*, that the damage was done, she couldn’t completely reverse the effect, just clean it up. I ended up spending something like $ 40 just to have something passable to show up to the wedding in. I was very upset and would never go back there.
These guys may be ok at really basic, cheap alterations, but don’t bring them anything you care about. I’m sorry to say it but they don’t know what they’re doing.

I’ve been searching for a decent tailor for what seems like forever. I have a closet full of clothes I can’t wear because I NEED to get them altered. Seriously. I really want to rock that Theory blazer. AGGGH!
So I’m going to a wedding and wanted to wear a certain dress too big for me and I decided now was the time to test run some tailors. Unilocal steered me down Lake and for a while I was really excited that this store might be «the one». The facilities look new, clean and bright and the lady at the front desk is nice enough. Not intensely warm and welcoming but she’s professional and efficient. Not too chatty, which I’m down with.
So the dress I took in is strapless and silk, and all I needed was to have the bust taken in. Easy, right? No problem. This dress was going to be my guinea pig before I dump a whole load of pricey goods in their hands.
Dropped it off on a Thursday, picked it up the following Thursday. Paid $ 15, not bad. I inquired about blazers and it would be $ 20 to just take in the body, $ 40 if they have to open the shoulders.
Now comes to criticism.
First of all, they only took in one side. With a sweetheart bustline, this threw everything out of order and even though you can’t really tell when I wear it, it’s definitely out of balance. FAIL. I understand it would have been more work to do both sides since one side had a zipper, but way to be lazy.
Second of all, they didn’t even do a good job with the stitching, you can totally tell I altered this dress. They sewed along the edge of the left side and the stitches kind of pucker and pull a little bit. Not terrible and again you can’t see if it I wear it but that’s not really the point here.
I was tempted to bring it back but I need it for this weekend and didn’t have the time to haggle for a fixing. The mistakes aren’t too awful, but I definitely need to bring it to someone else to fix that puckering issue. Ugh. Annoying.
It seems they do a good job on jeans and other heavier items but if you have something expensive or delicate, I would proceed with caution.
2 stars because they didn’t absolutely butcher my dress but lousy lousy lousy. Sigh… defeated. The search for a decent tailor continues :(

Oh and the two Levis skinny Jeans that I took to them for hemming came out flawless. Nuts to that bad review down below!

I usually take my jeans to Simon’s to get the original hemming for my designer jeans but I was looking for somewhere closer to my place. I decided to check out Tailoring Plus after reading all the positive reviews on Unilocal.I took my Abercrombie jeans to get original hemming as a trial run. The work was so-​so. The work was done in a week. I don’t think I’ll be taking my $ 200+ jeans here, probably just my slacks and regular (BR, Abercrombie) jeans. The owner was really nice.

Excellent prices, excellent tailoring. I travel from Hollywood to take my clothes to George and his wife. No comparisons!
Took great Brooks Brothers dress shirts to have taken in. I have a couple custom made suits from Bangkok, and they fit like gloves. American off-​the-​rack shirts, even the best slim fits, have billowing sleeves and large arm holes. George trimmed the sleeves, raised the arm holes, and took the shirts in along the side seams. (They only use darts if you ask for them, and they look cheap on dress shirts.) Pants always hemmed perfectly and securely, let in or out accurately for great fit.
I live near Koreatown, which has lots of tailors, but if you appreciate being well fitted, with lasting results and the best service, go to Tailoring Plus.

Great little tailor shop. It also does dry cleaning. I had two pair of jeans and my daughter’s school uniform blazer and 4 skirts altered. They took a week and it only cost $ 77.00.

I found out about Tailoring Plus here on Unilocal so I took 12 pairs of jeans to be hemmed recently. George was very friendly and had everything done for me in a week. $ 10 for a hem and $ 15 for the original hem (necessary for one pair of my True Religions) — good stuff. Just to compare I had a pair of jeans done with an original hem at that cleaners in Pasadena on the corner of Fair Oaks and California (Fashion Cleaners I think?) and it was around $ 20 and the result was so-​so. I’ll definitely go back to George and I’ve also referred a friend.

George is the man!
I go here for all my tailoring needs. If you need to get the length altered on your 400 dollar true religion jeans, George will do it for you no problem. He will even do the super hem where he keeps the original design of the bottoms. My buddy Ray got all his swanky jeans done here.
I split my pants from front to back and lost the entire sole on my shoe during a Halloween extravaganza, and George got me back in business all sewn up for $ 10 the next day.
If you take your jeans here just say you want it like Ray or Allen with the original bottoms and he’ll take care of you.
