Booked a Saturday afternoon lesson for beginners and it was so much fun. The area is small but it’s good because you get individual attention if you need it. The instructor and owner are really nice and helpful. I mentioned I wanted to make pillow covers and at the end of class the owner Dr. Koffa offered some helpful tips. Another student’s mother was a seamstress and mentioned the old big industrial machines and Dr. Koffa spent time talking about them and was very informative. If you are looking for a refresher or like me no sew experience but see all these crafts on Pinterest you want to make. Book a session!!!

I’ve got to say, all the reviews about this place were right! I found the beginner class deal on Living Social (which can sometimes be sketchy lol) but this place is legit. Everyone was very friendly, patient & informative. My grandmother gave me a sewing machine as a gift but I knew nothing about it so I left here feeling extremely confident & ready to start crafting!
I’m not going to lie, from all the reviews I was kind of hoping I would get to make a shirt lol but I was happy with the small purse/​pouch I was able to make. I got a lot of compliments on it when I took it home and I will be signing up for the next level classes.

I’ve been wanting to take a legit sewing class (a class that had a real teacher– not through YouTube) for a very long time… and I’ve finally did it!
Signing up for the 3-​hour Jumpstart Basic Sewing Class was perfect! The class was long enough to learn the basics and short enough to actually commit.
My friend and I arrived to the class 15 minutes prior to the start time. There was a total of six students (including myself) at all ages. Sadly, I was the only male student that day. The studio was a bit cozy, but they were able to accommodate all of us.
Dr. Koffajuah and her team were great. The teacher (sorry, I forgot the name) lead the class, as Dr. Koffajuah assisted us.
The Jumpstart process had four main components that we’ve covered.
1. Learned how to prepare the sewing machine (threading the machine and filling the bobbin)
2. Practice sewing straight lines with different types of stitches
3. Learn how to sew seams (straight, french, flat felled, and hems)
4. Create a small decorative bag
The whole class took the entire three hours. We asked a bunch of questions and everyone was extremely passionate about what they do. Dr. Koffajuah is extremely optimistic and encouraged ALL of us to sew. She even showed us the advance sewing machine that can cut fabric and do very complex stitches.
I am very glad that I took this course. Unfortunately, I was too eager to join the class and I did not do my research… there MAY be Groupons and Unilocal deals available! Regardless to say, I enjoyed the class anyways!

Confidence and a cute velcro pouch — that’s what I walked away with after taking the Basic Sewing Class with Koffa. What a wonderful class! In 3 hours she taught us about seams, stitches, threading the machines, changing out needles, attaching a presser foot, working the serger and so much more. Mind you, that’s on top of sewing our class project. With 5 people in attendance, Koffa was able to come around and give us individual attention and help when needed. Her instructions were crystal clear and repetition helped tremendously. She made sure we were all on the same page before moving on to the next step. Music played in the background as we sewed, it was quite relaxing. This class teaches the basics and then some!
A few things to note:
If you have a machine, bring it in so Koffa can teach you how to use it

This was amazing! In the past, I have spent a lot of money at other places only to walk away overwhelmed and learned nothing cause the class was so large and the teacher could not give any of us individual attention. I am so happy I found this place! Her beginner class is 3 hours long and she keeps it small so she gives everyone the amount of attention they need. The teacher was so patient and you can tell she truly has passion for sewing. Oh and the class fee includes materials!!!

This experience was so amazing. Koffa; the teacher, was so helpful and hands on about learning. The class was refreshing. I learned to properly sew!!! I had to reschedule several times and several times koffa was able to accommodate me and my crazy schedule. Due to past reviews I thought I would be making clothing (t-​shirts) but in the end I made a bow, small baggy, and practice my different stitches. Not what I expected yet so happy I went to it. Learned lots and I cannot emphasize how wonderful and kind koffa’s knowledge and help was appreciated. She does advance courses as well, sounds fun!!!

This was such a great class! I’m really glad I picked up a living social thing for it. Such a great deal. I’m feeling confident enough to start on my first sewing project — curtains and matching throw pillows for my baby’s nursery: D easy projects but trust me, before this class my sewing machine was my sworn enemy. I would have rather sewed everything by hand if i had to. I’ll probably get into more complicated projects in the future but for now I’m happy with just gaining some sewing confidence.

I purchased this class via Living Social. The website uses EventBrite to schedule classes. Due to the popularity they have extended classes to Thursday Evenings at 6pm. So I hired a babysitter and scheduled my class for last night at 6pm. The site requests that you arrive 15 – 10 minutes early because it requires the entire 3 hours for learning. I arrived 20 minutes early and waited… and waited… and waited. I checked my email, my voicemail, and nothing. No notice or anything. I called the number on the website and a lady answered who was UNAWARE that there was a class scheduled for the evening. She apologized and said she could arrive within 45 minutes (which would shorten the class? extend the time? I had 3 hours set aside for this and they were already 20 mins late.) Then she said I could call Living Social and ask for a refund to go back to my card. They don’t do that, but they’ll give me credit to purchase another product? I never want to use LivingSocial again, I certainly don’t recommend this company, I doubt anyone will compensate me for the babysitter. This has been just an inconvenience, I can’t begin to explain how upset I am.
I am SO un happy with the services. I think the best thing you could do as a company owner is to contact LivingSocial and let them know what happened and tell them to refund me my purchase. I do NOT want credit to their site. I want my money back. I paid for services that were not provided.

I took a basic 3 hour sewing class last Saturday with Koffa and I had a great time. Caitlin her assistant was very helpful and patient with everyone in my class. She definetly showed us a lot of tips, and showed us how to thread our sewing machine. We ended up making beautiful scarfs I really enjoyed myself. I definitely got more knowledge about sewing. I would recommend the classes with Koffa.

The instructor was super nice and patient. She went through every step carefully and always made sure we were following her.

I took the class today. The class teaches the basics of how to use a sewing machine. You learn to set up your threads. Then you practice sewing straight lines. Afterwards, you are given a fabric that you make into a scarf. Koffa is knowledgable and enjoys giving advice and tips on the art of sewing. She also has a friendly assistant Catelin who was really helpful. I recommend this class to anyone that is thinking about learning how to use a sewing machine.

Came here back in February for a lesson after a Living Social deal. I had received a sewing machine over the holidays, and I had no clue how to use it. I walked out a few hours later feeling more confident! Also, I had a cute new skirt to boot!
Koffa explained everything well — believe me, I was a n00b.

I took a basic 3 hr sewing class on Sept 6, and it was GREAT! Koffa is so friendly and willing to teach. I learned a lot, and even complete a scarf project there! Feeling great after the class!
Highly recommend for whoever wants to sew :)

I took a sewing 101 class today with Koffa and it was amazing. She is smart, warm, and encouraging. I learned tons, and had a great time doing it. I can’t wait to take another class.

Koffa is kool. I walked in having never used a sewing machine before. And walked out with a sarong I sewed in her class. The classes are small so she is readily available to assist and answer questions. You don’t need your own sewing machine, fabric or thread either.
I thought it odd to have the TV on during class of some wife swapping show. I don’t care much for the reality TV. I would have preferred some sewing or fashion design video instead to complement the class. Still, that’s a minor issue. It didn’t distract me from focusing on my project and enjoying the class.

It was a little difficult to register class, coz I called in several times, and it went to voice msg. But if you email her, she responds fast. Also, the site is not user friendly. The «online registration» tab is not obvious. However, once u find the right page, she has a video that instructs u how to register online.

The class building is closed all the time, except 15 min prior to the class.
So as safety concern, its pretty good.
For the class, Koffa was patient and nice.
I like the focus of the class.
Its not about sewing the best garment, but the fun and learning experience u hv.
The downfall is that I didn’t get to cut the fabric. Also, I wished she demonstrated steps separately. She taught us how to place upper and lower thread all at once. As beginner, its hard to remember all the steps even she had clear instructions. Plus, I wasn’t familiar with the parts of the sewing machine, so I had a bit hard time setting up my sewing machine. But once I figured out w her help, its was fun!
TIPS:
As beginner, its frustrating if you want to get it perfect. It takes a lot of practice, so just go there and hv fun!

I took a basic three hr. introductory sewing class with a GROUPON purchase this past Sunday. I was very hesitant in looking for these type of classes through groupon, because I always imagined that I would walk away from the class without learning anything and that I’d have to pay for more classes in the future to actually get something from it.
I was so wrong! and I knew it right when I walked into the class. Koffa was personable, sweet, and patient. she was interested in why everyone wanted to learn how to sew instead of advertising for her other classes which I liked. I didn’t feel pressured into anything at all.
The class room is small and intimate with only about 5 – 7 sewing machines around the room. Since each student gets their own sewing machine, there would be a maximum of about 5 students per class which means that everyone got all the attention and help they needed from Koffa. She put everyone straight onto a showing machine after showing us all the basics and had us jump in and start learning ourselves. By the end of class, we all made our own shirts that we got to keep. All the classes come with provided sewing machine, materials, and fabric so you get to walk away with whatever you made that day.
I left feeling excited and ready to start my own DIY projects. Thanks Koffa!

I took a basic sewing class with Koffa this past Saturday with my sister. Before this class, I had NEVER used a sewing machine before and by the end of class, I had made a crop top! I took this class because I was interested in making an infinity dress (
) and I was able to make it that same night — even though it took me about 7 hours… Still, she equipped me with the basic skills I needed to get started!
The class itself was great. We found her on a living social deal (3 hours for $ 29). The class included materials and a sewing machine so all we had to do was show up. Koffa’s instructions were very thorough and she repeated important steps a few times to make sure we understood her. The class was small and intimate so we each got a lot of attention.
I have no complaints about the class and I would love to take another with her. I do suggest bringing a bottle of water since the drinking fountains weren’t working when I went.

My gf and I got a deal on living social for the basic sewing class. Setting up the appointment was super easy and the instructor already showed to be very professional. She emailed us a couple of days before our class to confirm our reservations.
The class setting is very small and intimate which I think is great because it allows the instructor to better work with each individual one on one. She showed how to thread the sewing machine, different stitches and we even got a chance to practice before we got started in making our shirt.
The instructor is extremely knowledgable and was very patient in teaching the course. You literally do walk out after three hours with a wearable shirt.
The only down fall is that we did not get to cut our own fabric from the shirt pattern. I would of loved to learn that skill.
I would definitely recommend the basic sewing class to anyone.
