We had been searching for a good diner in Pasadena that had great food, reasonable prices, and fast service. The Reyn has all of these qualities and has become our favorite diner spot! Their specialty banana bread is a must have every time. I’ve had their waffles, pancakes, omelettes, and French toast — everything is wonderful. I haven’t had a bad meal here yet! I’ve put off this review for a while now because I also love that this diner hasn’t received a lot of hype from foodies — the customers are all locals and it doesn’t get overly flooded during weekend brunches. I’d love to keep this spot a local secret, but the food is too delicious to not rave about!

We stopped in for breakfast on our way to Lompoc. Their service was friendly, prompt and the food was delicious. Deb had the blueberry pancakes, with fresh blueberry. I had the French toast combo and everything was cooked to order. We left with a loaf of their banana bread. Highly recommended!

What a nice diner. Not going to win a James Beard award, but the food and service were both delightfully solid. Ordered two kids meals, the Mickey Mouse Pancake(Disney lawsuit pending) and bacon and eggs, around $ 4 each, and a bacon, swiss, and spinach omelet for me and the wife. The omelet tasted fresh, and amazingly, nothing(including the hashbrowns) were remotely greasy. The banana bread(as others mentioned) tasted home-made, and the pancakes and eggs were all done well. The service was charming, if a bit terse. All in all, breakfast for four people ran us $ 30 after tip. Definitely coming back.

I would have gave this place 5 stars. The servicer was great, the cinnamon roll French toast was amazing and the country fried steak. But the manager was down right disrespectful. I asked for a breakfast burrito with eggs over easy and was told that is impossible. He informed me this only after making the burrito with scrambled eggs. Even though, I get my breakfast burritos like that at lucky boy’s, heirloom café, café verde, marston’s, barney’s beanery, Le Roy’s, Rosscco’s and pete’s blue chip dinner. So yeah, definitely not impossible, just never coming back here. Don’t make me the incorrect food and ask if it is ok? I want it to be great not just ok. I can make ok at home. I am going out to treat myself.

I was on a business trip in the area, looking for a low-key place to have breakfast and was so glad I wandered into The Reyn. There’s a homey, traditional diner vibe in here, and it’s really wonderful. The service was great and prompt. The food was good and very decently priced. I had the huevos rancheros. It was a huge portion and a little spicier than I normally like, but I still really enjoyed it. For my side, I got the biscuits and gravy, which were so yummy. I would definitely recommend coming it. It’s a delightful hole in the wall!

The Reyn is a traditional, back to basics diner. Think something akin to Norms, but family owned. The food is simple but made well and the prices can’t be beat. They can get pretty busy at breakfast time, especially on the weekends, so be patient. Once you’re seated the service is quick and friendly. This place keeps it simple and sometimes simple is good.

First buy the banana bread and take it home, any friend or neighbor will take it off your hands. Our breakfast was great, from shrimp and rice to burrito, our crew loved this place. Service is good. Even the water in the glass was great.

This place is very inexpensive and by the looks of it, it’s been around for a while. Those are probably the main reasons why it’s always busy. The food is mediocre, but the staff partially makes up for it. I’ve eaten here a few times. It’s easy and close to my mom’s so we order take out. Bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast for $ 5.99. You definitely have to eat it while it’s hot. My granny likes it :)

Came for breakfast with my husband. Thanks to a previous Unilocaler we made sure we arrived before 10:30, I would even say 10! The banana bread and the cinnamon roll French toasts are amazing! But my hash browns were not cooked through… The service was disappointing. Did not refill coffee, dropped bill right beside the empty mug without asking if we wanted to order anything either. As the sun was rising the rays were glaring at us and the employee lowered the blinds for a table behind us but not for us until we asked him to. They were busy, so I understand the lack of attentive service. This restaurant is small. Price is great! Would return

Banananananana(Batman) Bread! I love their $ 5.99 Reyn Special consisting of 2 eggs, shredded hash browns, 2 slices of crispy bacon with their mouth watering smooth banana bread. This place is a hole in the wall but it’s a delight. I see all types of people come to enjoy breakfast. I think it’s adorable that their coffee mugs are all different and unbranded. Just make sure to come before 10:30am to beat the rush!

Let’s talk about courteousness, friendliness, service with a smile, and caring for your customers… shall we? The Reyn. I’m not talking about the weather, I’m talking about this delectable little neighborhood diner that caters to the working class with nothing but a delightful«hello» and a welcoming smile. When it comes to dining at restaurants I’m all about the service first, then the food. The service is the first impression one receives before anything else. The servers at the Reyn were all friendly and just plain olé nice. Our particular server greeted us and immediately made sure we had our drinks ordered and sitting on our table in a 3 minute time span. She made recommendations on their breakfast specials and inevitably sold us on the banana bread they make in-house. You had us a «banana bread.» =) Aside from their top notch service and their great tasting food, the restaurant’s ambience is unique. There are license plates hanging from the walls, pictures of days past in Pasadena, and interesting old school signage posted everywhere. Pretty eclectic with a «making you feel at home» feel to it. The fiancé will come here again, you can count on that. The real question is… will you be joining us???

TL;DR ===== Stellar service from Ms. Maria! Great parking lot from everybody! Fast food forthwith fresh! Banana Bread = basically brunchable but still beats«basic bread»! AAA™ affordable affordances albeit abbreviated hours! Wonderfully wacky walls. Whatever. Will return… W00T!!! — — — - My friend drives by here all the time and like most things, it was invisible to the naked eye. However, the perspective always changes when you have me visiting from«Man Jose» wanting to eat something local and flavorable, hopefully with flavorable local flavor… On this late Sunday morning, there was plenty of parking left in the private lot behind the The Reyn™. My friend and I ordered the Corned Beef Hash($ 8.79) and I wondered aloud to our very attentive serveress, Ms. Maria, about the grits. She encouraged me to «try new things» so I cautiously said I would get the grits. Noting my caution, she suggested adding cheese«because everything tastes better with cheese» and I told her I’ll go with that. Ms. Maria noticed we were on Unilocal™ looking at old Phở photos also posted at this restaurant and she remarked that the owner had bought the The Reyn™ when it had been a phở place half a decade ago. Surprisingly, the visit was full of surprises for us because the food came faster than expected, my first grits ‘n cheeze pleeze was a del.icio.us™ success, nobody broke into my car, and waitlady Ms. Maria not only explicitly said she would check in on us from time to time but actually did check in on us from time to time!(^_^) The banana bread was pretty OK(I would prefer more sickeningly sweet) but it’s still better than«basic bread»!!!

I kept thinking The Reyn was closed since my grandson & I always walk after he’s finished his homework I’m very happy he & I were able to make it early one Sunday morning though I had chocolate chip pancakes & they were delicious, didn’t need syrup either! My grandson ate every bite of his over easy eggs & bacon Definitely want to return for lunch soon!

Stumbled upon this little diner because the Mexican restaurant next door wasn’t open yet. Glad we found it. Good food. Good service. The lady who served us was very friendly. We ordered Reyns omelet and the Spanish omelet. Both were food portion sizes and tasty Oh, and Don’t pass up the banana bread! The BEST I’ve ever had!!!

How have I never been here before? Awesome breakfast for a ridiculous low price. Once you step in, you get the old school diner feel. It can get pretty packed, but the wait shouldn’t be too long. Reyn Special($ 5.99) Eggs, hash, bacon(or sausage), and toast. So simple, but so good. It’s a full breakfast that will get your belly full. I love the hash. You also have a choice to get french fries instead. Strawberry French Toast Love this. In case you don’t want all that sweetness, share this with someone. It’s a nice dish to share. The strawberries are canned but the French toast is nice and fluffy. Parking is in the lot behind the restaurant.

My mom loves breakfast food and I only really eat breakfast to take her out and stuff. After much Unilocaling, I cane across this place and it’s just a tiny little diner and r’s great. We got there during prime breakfast time and there was a wait. It wasn’t too bad, about 10 minutes. Our server was very friendly and sweet, she kept checking up with us and we never once had to ask for a refill & she let us know what we were having with each platter. The prices are pretty cheap for a good portion of food and the food is pretty good. I’m definitely not a fan of restaurant eggs but I have no complaints about these, really good, perfectly made. My mom loved her pancakes and I just loved the service. Will come again, it’s def a place you should try.

This past Sunday, my friend Melissa texts me to tell me her boyfriend left her in bed for some Sunday Fantasy Football at Chili’s and she needed someone to accompany her for french toast. I gladly obliged. we both Unilocaled«french toast’ and found The Reyn, which is conveniently located in our hood. She ordered the cinnamon french toast. Although I’m not a fan of sweets, it looked so good, I had to try some. It was delicious. I ordered corned beef hash and eggs, with home fries. Pretty standard, pretty good. We shared the banana bread, which seems to be a popular item in the reviews and the had the words«Banana Bread» printed largely on the walls, so we assumed it had to be pretty special. The banana bread was very good. Expect a wait on a Sunday, it’s not the largest restaurant and it’s a popular spot on Sundays for breakfast.

Ok, so where do I start? First, If you are helped by Maria, you WILL be taken care of. She has got to be one of the nicest ladies ever. She began by making my cousin and I laugh when my cousin who already had a coffee and I asked for one myself, she grabbed his and gave it to me, we had to pause to realize it was a joke. I personally like people that are loose and enjoy their jobs. She took great care of us and got our orders just right. The food here was really good, nothing over the top but exactly what we were expecting! Good coffee and good service can easily win me over. The location also has parking in the back which is great. We were sat down rather quickly as well since it was just two of us we ate at the counter. I ordered the Ranchero Omellette which was basically a layerd meal. It was soooo good. The potatos were well cooked, and the egg was medium hard and the salsa covering it was not too salty or over powering. Inside décor is basic, booths and tables with that«diner» feel. There is however plenty of them so I am guessing the wait here is not too long most of the time. It seems they have a lot of regulars as well so that says a lot about a place. If you are willing to come back that often it means you get taken care of every time!

I first came here more than 40 years ago with my Grandfather. It hasn’t changed a lot. But it’s been 5 or 6 years since the last time I was here and ownership has turned over at least twice I think, in that time. The new owner is Israel,(new) for the last 3 years, First the place is crazy busy with a 20 min wait at 10am on Saturday morning. It’s always a good sign when people are willing to stand and wait for your food, when there are so may place to eat in Pasadena. We sit at the counter the first available. I order the Chicken Fried Steak(for my friends reading this, don’t tell anyone I still eat this stuff sometimes!) This is one of my goto comfort foods being from the South. When it’s done well it’s great, when it’s not, well you know! You shouldn’t have it on the menu! My daughter ordered the #2 breakfast special, pancakes, eggs and sausage. As we sit and wait the service is good and our drinks are kept full. The food coming out of kitchen looks good. My daughter get two big plate Sized fluffy buttermilk pancakes and and her side of eggs & sausage. It’s looks and tastes good. My order outside the need for some seasoning(salt-and-pepper) a common cooking mistake, was executed well. I’ll try some of the breakfast specials on the wall next time. The bill $ 21 with drinks. This is a great value for most people and worth a try. With some small improvements it could be a destination breakfast icon.

I’ve been looking for a good diner in Pasadena and after seeing reviews on this I gave it a shot. I ended up making my own omelette and it was delicious! The hash browns were pretty good, crispy on top but could’ve been a little more well done underneath. It also came with some great rye toast. The waiter was friendly and kept filling up my water and coffee without me having to do any signaling. Great experience, would definitely go back again!
