They have changed the menu because its a new ownership and they have this crazyyyy sandwiches. It’s Boar’s Head Meats!!! Very good and delicious sandwiches. They also featuring Coffee Bean Coffee. Employees were very nice. Food is excellent. Try it out!!! They are getting their website and Unilocal soon!!! The name of this place is Rafaelo’s Deli & Café

I was about to get an oh-so boring chicken burrito when I spotted Union Stop Café & decided to duck inside. What a great find!!! I think I just found my new favorite go-to lunch spot in Old Town. The lunch menu is all sandwiches, but these are not your industrial chain-type sandwiches. I couldn’t believe how nicely made & nicely served the food was. Since this place was new to me, I got the safe choice of blackened turkey on rye with lettuce, tomato & pickle. How many places serve a sandwich like this? The rye was lightly toasted & they don’t use that cheap iceberg lettuce, either. The lettuce was a mix of field screens, and they very thoughtfully placed some sliced pepperoncinis on the side. My sandwich tasted great & I can’t wait to go back. I think there has been a change of ownership at Union Stop Café because the owner said that this was his soft opening, and that he’s experimenting with bakeries to get the right kinds of bread. I’m so glad I ate here instead of getting a one-dimensional burrito for lunch. My check-in’s will be piling up at this place.

Stopped in today because I had an expired coupon and I wanted to use the base cost, I was hungry, it was convenient, I even found a place in front to park. Small but clean, neat restaurant. I didn’t expect much. Ordered the French Press. WOW! I don’t know when I have had a sandwich that good. Great tasting black forest ham, just enough brie to fill the sandwich but not melt out on your hand and very thin sliced apple. The bread was delicious, from Pasadena bakery — I asked. Even the iced tea was good. Simple restaurant with a help yourself area for sugar, napkins, straws etc. I will go back to this one for sure and I don’t need a coupon to do it. Really nice service. Very pleasant person behind the counter. Absolutely made my afternoon.

This is the type of place Old Pasadena needs more of. Tasty(and healthy!) sandwiches, good coffee, free wifi, and lots of power plugs.

I’ve been looking for this place ever since I got to Pasadena, and I finally found it. They serve real food(not the plastic, sugary rubbish that a lot of Delis here serve), and real coffee for a reasonable price(unlike the local intelligensia, they cater properly for the lactose intolerant among us!!! — almond milk and everything!!!). I recommend having the coleslaw with your sandwich too, its fantastic! The décor is stylish, its quiet, and the ladies who work there are just lovely. I just wish I lived closer so I could go there every day!

After parking my car in the lot near Union Stop Café for a nearby meeting, I decided to park it and work there for the day since I was already paying a flat fee for parking. It’s pretty new and there’s not much to it, but the ladies behind the counter are lovely and the menu is fit for any sandwich/salad/just need a cup of Joe consumer. There’s really no fuss being made about anything and that’s perfect for posting up and keeping to yourself(there’s really no noise, either). They’ve got free wifi, plenty of seating, outlets, and a quaint disposition. My iced coffee was refilled without asking and the tuna sandwich I had did the trick, though a tad bit pricey for having no frills(I mean I love capers, but capers are not fancy pants penny action), though it did come with my choice of salad or bagged chips(couldn’t tell if they were homemade or just transferred from a big brand bag to a cute little brown lunch bag). All in all, a suitable place to catch up with a friend, work on a laptop, read a book, or just grab and go.

Love this place and not just because its so close to my work! My favorite is the Chai Latte with Almond Milk and their breakfast items bagel sandwiches are super yums! I also frequent their assortment of muffins and croissants. They have awesome naturally fruit flavored water available in Mason jars, too!

The sandwiches at Union Stop Café are much more interesting than the standard deli fare. I’ve tried a handful of sandwiches thus far and have been pleased with most of them. My favorite is a riff on the banh mi so it is appropriately named the Good Morning Vietnam($ 9). The mortadella takes the place of the liver pâté. They include the familiar pickled daikon and carrot, sprigs of fresh cilantro, some sliced jalapeño, and a spicy spread. The whole thing is served on pretzel bread. Despite the numerous substitutions, the sandwich definitely has the feel of a banh mi. The Miss Natalie($ 6) is a veggie packed-egg white breakfast sandwich. The crusty bread tasted a bit stale on my visit, but the sandwich itself was piled very high with egg white, roasted red peppers, spinach, avocado and whole grain mustard. It was a little savory with all the mustard for a breakfast sandwich but I liked how light and healthful it was. The Full Monte($ 10) is a panined sandwich with ham, gruyère, pickled red onion, and apple butter on country white bread. The apple butter was not assertive and I didn’t notice it at all but it was still tasty as a ham and cheese sandwich with the added texture and bite of pickled onion. Each sandwich is accompanied by your choice of slaw or ruffled potato chips. The Bird($ 9) was my least favorite of the bunch. I really liked the combination of hummus and turkey on a sandwich but the turkey itself felt very pre-sliced deli and while I liked the generous vegetable combination of tomato, roasted red peppers, olives, cucumbers and spinach, it still seemed very ho hum to me. The café is really pleasant. There are fresh flowers at every table. The staff is always very mellow and sweet and I always feel like I’m moving at half-speed when I’m here. It’s very relaxing. The sandwiches are a bit expensive, which is worth noting, but they seem to take a lot of care and pride in what they do.

In Old Town Pasadena, but yet quiet. Friendly staff, good coffee, free WiFi. Good alternative to corporate giant run of the mill cafes.

Really cute place with such a friendly staff! I’ve been there a handful of times already and they just opened! The egg sandwich is so yummy and their organic coffee is perfection! Move over Starbucks! They also serve freshly made healthy unique sandwiches for lunch. The bread is sooo fresh! Perfect place to enjoy your breakfast or lunch while listening to great tunes or working on your laptop. I highly recommend it. This is my new favorite place!

Just opened two weeks ago. Super cute atmosphere, very friendly staff, good prices. I got a breakfast sandwich — good but not amazing. And surprise! It came with a side of slaw(yummy but a bit too creamy for me — I prefer vinegar based slaw plus I’m trying to stay away from dairy, that’s why I ordered the Miss Natalie sandwich). I ordered«for here» and yet my soy chai latte and side came in disposable containers! Giving this place four stars cause I LOVE the atmosphere and the prices are good. Hoping these ladies will improve their Eco-friendliness over time. Best of luck on your new place! :)
