Eberle Winery

I went for a couple of days down in Paso Robles and I loved the area, and the wineries. The whole area is much cheaper for wine tasting and much less touristy than Sonoma or Napa. Eberle had a great view from its outside deck, and some cute candles and other things to browse in the shop area. But, the service was not great. It wasn’t overly crowded when we went and yet our server was not very attentive, and not at all friendly. Granted, my friends and I were a bit tipsy from our last tasting but by no means were we being obnoxious. The wines we tasted were also not great — I’d recommend Tobin James over this place. But if you are looking for somewhere to sit outside with a glass of wine and chill, that is what I would recommend this place for. Skip the tasting unless they offer it for free (which they do still do, but that might change).

Eberle was our second stop in our own organized wine tour. We decided on Eberle because the photos on Unilocal looked beautiful, and it was next to Vina Robles which was our following stop. Upon arriving, the entrance was probably the most beautiful of the three wineries we visited in Paso that morning. They have strong wifi (just as your winetender for the password) and PURSE HOOKS. The entrance is tastefully groomed and there are tons of back patio seating as well as parking.
We walked in and saw the winery poodles! There are two of them and they are super friendly. Once we entered, it took a while to start our tasting because it was already poppin’! Luckily we had a wonderful winetender who turned out to be our tour guide as well. Listen up y’all, free cave tour. Doesn’t get better than that! Our tour guide/​winetender was fabulous and we totally tipped him (don’t forget to do that), thanks dude.
The venue itself is great for larger parties if you’re here tasting with a big group. Their back patio is the key experience. They also have a grill and were offering food that was basically free, but donations were accepted and encouraged. There was just all-​around good vibes at Eberle and tons of tasting options (free tasting). Bring your camera because you’ll want to keep snapping photos of their aerial view of the vineyards which just go on and on and on!
Eberle is a beautiful venue, equipped with a wonderful tour guide/​winetender (passionate employee with a little ponytail), and filled with lots of winery culture. They offer tons of cave tastings and private tours for those wanting a more exclusive experience, so there is definitely something that will please everybody. No wonder it’s a hit with the Unilocal crowd!

This place is incredible! It was my first time going wine tasting, and I’m glad I did it here. The staff was beyond welcoming and who wouldn’t love FIVE free samples? Plus, the pizza was great. I liked that it was donation based and the donations went to charity. I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a great experience wine tasting.

I adored my entire visit to Eberle. From the minute we walked in and saw the owner and his beautiful standard poodles at the front door, this place was warm and welcoming. The wines we tasted (for free might I add!) were incredible. I ended up buying a bottle of the Muscat, it’s so sweet but SO GOOD. Then we were offered a free tour of the wine cellars! And while we waited for that tour to start on the darling patio, we were greeting by a sweet cat that jumped right in my lap. 5 stars from this animal/​wine lover!

Really liked this Winery. If you like a light sweet white, try the Muscat Cannelli, it is fantastic. They do not charge for tastings, never heard of that.
People are really nice, very relaxed place.

Came here after Tobin James, and this winery was a complete 180. Much calmer and serene.
they have an onsite BBQ set up, so you can purchase food, which was a plus.

Stopped here on our way to Hearst Castle — a quick Unilocal check showed Eberle to be a fairly popular winery in Paso Robles. Upon arriving, we found out they gave complimentary tours and one happened to be taking off shortly after we got there. Sure, why the heck not. We had about 6 or 7 people in our tour group and the gentleman gave a small walk around the premises — overlooking the vineyard, seeing the fermentation tanks, and then the underground (not too deep) caves where they store their barrels of wine. Entire tour lasts about 15 or 20 minutes. It’s nothing to get excited about, but something to enhance your trip to the winery.
Afterwards, we did some wine tasting — extra bonus points that it’s free. You can taste up to 5 of their wines. I’m no wine connoisseur (can barely spell the word), but their wines were pretty decent, at least to me. If you want to take some bottles home, the prices are reasonable — I took home a bottle of their Full Boar Red for $ 22. Service was friendly — our server chatted up with some casual conversation.
The back of the shop has a deck that overlooks the vineyard — seating makes it a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine. The front also has a bocce ball court.
Overall, I wouldn’t mind coming back if I’m in the area again.

The wine! The wine! Absolutely LOVED it! We only tasted the Reds and loved them all. We left with two cases of the Full Boar Red, a beautiful, every day wine priced very reasonably. The service was fantastic! We were greeted warmly upon arrival, and Mark began serving us. He was very kind and made us feel welcome right away. Then Robin stepped in, and gave us attentive, expert service. She too was very warm and kind, and we almost felt like family when we left. The tasting room was inviting and there were interesting items for purchase. Mark and Robin treated us like royalty and honored us as we celebrated our wedding anniversary. They both made the experience wonderful.
The only down-​side was that the person in charge (the tasting room manager?) was not so nice. He kept correcting the folks serving the wine in front of the customers. He confronted us regarding using our daughter’s discount because she was a member and had called ahead of our visit, to let them know we were coming as her guest. He let us know that we would not be able to use it again without her calling ahead of time (which she did). When Mark let this manager person know that our daughter had indeed called, he just got defensive. He was unkind to the staff serving the customers… and he didn’t seem to care at all that the customers were witnessing his unprofessional behavior. We felt badly for the staff because of the manager’s treatment of them.
However, because of the kindness of Robin and Mark, we had a lovely time. We came in as guests and left as members.

Never heard of Eberle nor have I had their wine before and boy was I glad we stumbled upon this place. The scenery is beautiful, the wine selection is great. They had a great selection of red, but I loved their Chardonnay way more. The staff was super nice and friendly, they also do a free tour of their cave, but 5he best part of it all was they had free lunch. They have a huge smoke right out front and they serve they meat right out and you can grab a plate and buy a glass of wine and just sit outside and enjoy the food, your company and the scenery. Will definitely be back again!

Dog friendly with 2 winery poodles. They did try to hump my boy, so keep an eye out on them. They have dog bones for puppies too.
Tastings are complimentary which is almost unheard of. You get to taste 5 wines on their long wine list. The wine was very tasty. I enjoyed the 5 reds I tried.
Very crowded winery. You will not get personal attention when busy and sometimes it was hard to get my next pour.

Complimentary tasting and cave tours. Some wines did not impress, but they do have a few enjoyable ones that I purchased on my last visit such as Steinbeck Syrah ($ 26), and the full boar red ($ 22) was a drinkable crowd pleaser.
I have also had the pleasure of attending an anniversary party held in the caves, which was a wonderful event! After their tasting room hours had ended, they did wine tasting upstairs for I believe 40 guests then a full dinner downstairs in the caves. It was well executed and enjoyed by the whole family.

Really popular winery for its «cave tour». Beautiful grounds and very friendly tasting room staff. These folks can make you feel very welcome.
Wine line-​up is diverse and interesting. May not beat the many boutique wineries in the area, but for most palates, a favorite wine can be found among their offerings. Priced right.
Very much worth your time to visit, especially if you don’t know where any of the boutique winemakers are located. Easy access from the highway. Try the places across the highway, Vina Robles, Robert Hall and especially Mitchella.
Great location for the occasional or casual wine drinker.

Eberle got the gold for their 2012 Barbara. big red. It was well worth it. I came with friends specifically to go to the Midstate Fair and sample the wine. The people are friendly and have a 30% veteran discount per bottle purchased. Very cool and worth visiting again.

We’d noticed and passed Eberle many times; however, it was a review I’d read on Tom’s Foodie Blog that put Eberle on my radar. The grounds are attractive; in the back, there’s a spacious outdoor covered seating area offering peaceful views of the vineyards. We were greeted immediately upon reaching the tasting counter; Mark was extremely warm and welcoming, making us feel comfortable from the start. Tim, also very nice, led us on an interesting and informative complimentary cave tour. Their staff certainly knows how to make one feel special.
I was surprised that they offer your choice of 5 wines off their list — all free! Complimentary tastings, complimentary cave tour, super-​nice and easy-​going staff, attractive building and grounds, and good wines… I had a smile on my face from start to finish! Great discovery!

Of all the wineries available to tour in the area, I’m glad I decided to fit this into our tasting itinerary. We stopped here after nearly a full week of wine tastings and I was afraid this would be just another winery so I perhaps was a little jaded pulling in. But no. It was great! First off, the estate itself is beautiful — great views overlooking acres of wonderful grape vines, beautiful tasting room, incredibly friendly staff, free tour, and free tastings. Not to mention the winery dogs which were great!
The tour includes a walk through their underground wine caves, a look at their production facility, lots of answers to any and all questions, and ends back in the tasting room where you can sample 5 wines in a complimentary tasting. I focused on the Reds, although I did try the Viognier which I liked. As a fan of Sangiovese, I was anxious to try their double gold medal winner and it was excellent. I especially liked their estate grown Cabernet, also a gold medal winner.
Surprisingly the wines are fairly priced and quite a good value. So go ahead, taste away. Enjoy the wines and the experience. You’ll be glad you did.

Worth a visit for the free brief Cave Tours alone, given almost every half hour, but it doesn’t hurt that the grounds are both beautiful AND working, the tasting room is large w/​mostly attentive and friendly servers (one was a bit non-​warm), there are games like bocce ball and cornhole, a wine cat (allegedly), and good wines.

Five stars for: service, aesthetics, and wine.
We happened to visit when Eberle was hosting a celebratory weekend for winning a prestigious wine award. Despite the fact that the small tasting room was super packed, we were still given individual attention and never felt like we had to flag someone down. Wines were also 20% off!
I really enjoyed the reds here — and even the rosé, which did not taste like your typical sparkling fruity wine.
The view is beautiful. I prefer tasting rooms where I can see the grapes being grown :) we were also invited on a (free!!) tour of the cellar and shown how the grapes were crushed and barreled. Really cool!
Would definitely come back to visit!

When touring the vineyards of Paso – and I’m sure everyone, like I do, has his or her favorites – one winery that is always fun to bring newcomers to is Eberle. Known for their Cabs, Eberle rests upon East Highway 46, alongside many other great (and perhaps not-​so-​great) wineries, each vying for attention, each promising newer avenues, marriages, and angles.
Eberle, however, has something a little different: they have a cave! And touring the cave, especially when it’s seering outdoors, not only offers a shaded reprieve from the heat, but it’s educational and entertaining as well. Touring the wine caves is free, by the way; you simply relax 10 – 15 minutes, whether indoors or out upon their beautiful vineyard-​lined patios, before the next tour begins.
I’ve been a few times now – I’ve generally visited Eberle with each trek that I take up north – and the tours, dependent upon who may be giving them or whether or not some event is taking place, vary in time and length. Ten minutes or so seems to be the average. I’ve also been on a tour when the guests were allowed to taste a bit of Eberle’s wines direct from the barrels; but on the latest one, no luck. There are also VIP tours, which include wine tastings along the tour that must be booked in advance, but they come with a price tag. For me, I’d rather take the free tour, as I’ve other places to visit!
I wouldn’t leave Eberle without also tasting their wines, especially a Cabernet or two. And don’t forget the Muscat Canelli. =]
