We went to Edward Sellars after determing they had Viognier which is my favorite wine and always interested in trying a winery that has it. We went for my birthday so I was in the best possible spirits. Enjoyed the winery and the wines very much.
Had purchased a case special and an additional 4 bottles to be shipped to my home. I received the case but not the additional bottles. I called the winery to have them ship the balance of the bottles, didn’t hear from them, sent an email didnt receive a response. Decided to cancel the 4 bottles and never heard a response. Have a dispute with the card company for going on two months and it is not settled. I have the receipt and if they took inventory or kept records they would know I only received 12 bottles and not 16. I am highly disappointed in the lack of unprofessionalism of this winery. I have been visiting wineries for 20 years and have never had a bad experience like this ever.
I would never expect this to happen and am super disenchanted with this.
I would not recommend this winery based on that.

Great little tasting room with helpful staff, our favorite wine was the Le Passage which as of over the 4^th of July weekend had a lot of it for cheap, you just have to have them ship it. Le Thief was also very good and if you like bigger wines I would recommend trying the two side by side in order to make an informed decision. From what I understand and I could be getting the wineries confused, Edwards sold the company to another and the wine quality has changed, not gone up or down, just changed. Be sure to check my accuracy on that. Everyone worked really hard to make sure we had a great experience!

The tasting room was nice (brand new) and the help was friendly. However, I wasn’t a fan of their wines (4^th stop out of 6 for the day) as they were very tanic and acidic. I’m usually not a dumper, but couldn’t help myself this time.

This was one of the last tastings of our day and we enjoyed it very much. The Vertigo was a fave… very big and bold, however we ended up purchasing Le Thief. It was very good and smooth. We enjoyed dinner that evening at Café Della Via in Cayucos and drank the Le Thief with dinner. It was excellent!

Awesome Rhone’s, priced right for the area and gorgeous views! First stop on your left on 46W, don’t miss it! Kendall’s customer service is out of this world! Stop by weekends, usually have music on the patio when weather is good (might just be a summer thing)

At a recent Grape of the Night event, that a dozen or more friends attend under the tutelage of Eve’s Wine 101 staff writer Rusty Sly, the assigned varietal was one none of us was overly familiar with: Roussanne.
(Grape of the Night, for those of you new to Eve’s Wine 101, is an event Rusty created with friends in Florida. Their wine shop, now sadly closed, organized an event where wine friends — both novice and expert — met every month over a different wine varietal. The idea being that dedicating the palate to one varietal guests would detect nuances more readily, learn and decide what they liked the most. In our west coast version, held at Valencia Wine Company usually on the first or second Monday each month, guests are asked to bring or buy a bottle to share. (One bottle per person or couple, and if you bring a bottle, our deal with the bar is to purchase one of theirs.) Lots of chatter, as each person is tasked with talking about the wine they brought. Our biggest challenge is usually finding the varietal, as Rusty often adds the caveat that it must be 85% or greater of the one we are studying. At the end of the evening, Rusty takes a general consensus as to what we will try the next month.)
Now, back to Roussanne. Rusty said, «Some of the descriptors you will find will run from fruit to floral, look for things like herbal tea, apricot and honey. If the wine is aged in oak it will be decidedly more rich, and those aged in stainless will allow more floral and mineral notes to come forward.»

I’d met Ed Sellers many years ago when he and his wife, Dani, traveled to Santa Clarita from Paso Robles, for a wine pairing dinner organized by Guy Lelarge, owner of Valencia Wine Company, and held at Maru Sushi. (Article:
) Suffice it to say, it was an awesome pairing.
Many other times since then I’d seen Ed Sellers, at Family Winemakers in Pasadena, and, most recently, with his full line-​up at Rhone Rangers LA. (The story of that event is running today on my site:
) Anyway, it was a good opportunity to taste all of Ed’s wines again, all receiving high marks from me, and decide that bringing his 100% Roussanne to Grape of the Night would be a stellar idea.
Tasting Edward Sellers 2008 Roussanne: Grape of the Night Group Consensus
Color — Clear, golden-​hued, diamonds on surface, deeper honeyed edge.
Aroma — Lemon, pear, pineapple, all carried through to the taste.
Taste — Lemon-​peel, pear, some nice minerality, acidity and a lovely viscosity over the mouth.
Finish — Medium length.
Conclusion — Of course I loved it. I think it may have been the only 100% Roussanne of the night. And though it was a great surprise to find that so many Roussanne ended up varying in taste, this one was a standout. Vic Herstein, newly ensconced at Valencia Wine Company, was a fan as well so I’m hoping that Guy will stock some soon!

At Harvest, this was a ripe Roussanne, with its characteristic russet skin and flawlessly balanced acid and sugar. The wine these grapes produced is complex and structured, with Grape– fruit, pear, and white plum aromas. In the mouth, candied fruit is perfectly weighted by subtle custard notes and echoes of vanilla, cashew, and meringue. Hints of brine and granite lead to a lingering finish that integrates all of the elements that mark this distinctive wine.

The 2007 La Theif is one of the best wines I have had under $ 50

Edward Sellers himself was pouring the day we were in the tasting room. That obviously made an impression on me. Very cool. This was the only place we bought after a day’s worth of tasting. He was blowing out remaining stock of the 2007 «red cap» Syrah for $ 99 a case… sold!

First stop on our weekend of Paso wines. What a surprise. Wines wonderful — ended up at wine club members — and the staff and owner were welcoming and so interesting to talk to. Beautiful tasting room — in fact came back to have our picnic overlooking their vineyard. They recommended some other wineries which were also great suggestions. A definite stop while in Paso area. We enjoy the west side a bit more than the east — mainly the visual of rolling hills and back country roads. But wine is excellent on both sides of the freeway!

It was the first winery of the day, and the trip no less. It turned out in to be one of the best. It has nice red wine blends and informative staff. Their new tasting room was very professional and reminded me of wineries back home in Sonoma, which is good. Prices were fine and we had a good time.

Our 3^rd stop during the Paso Robles Harvest Wine Weekend.
Sporting a new, more colorful tasting room, Edward Cellars blatantly caters to the cougar crowd with the tourist-​trap knick-​knacks and the aforementioned cougars pouring at the bar.
Our cougar was full of pep and enthusiasm, not afraid to let us know how much better the west side is over the east side in Paso.
Their wines were all wonderful — the GSM blends of Le Thief ($ 35) and Cognito ($ 30) being my 2 standouts.
They get bonus points for hooking us up with sausage sliders.
Tasting was only $ 5 and worth it.

Highlights from our tasting at Edward Sellers:
–Blanc du Rhone was my second favorite wine I tasted all day!
–Cognito (a red Rhone blend I think) was also fantastic
–Their new tasting room is absolutely gorgeous
–The lady pouring had a full bar of tasters but was still attentive and sweet!
–These people are dog lovers and they attract dog-​loving, friendly local people! I enjoyed meeting some of the other tasters – they were locals who had walked over to the tasting room from their house across a few fields!
I would definitely go back to Edward Sellers!

The new tasting room which is now at the winery is open and it is absolutely beautiful. The wines are as great as ever and the staff just as welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. The entrance is a tad hard to find but it is right across from Summerwood. This is a must try for people that like a great tasting experience in a lovely setting.

Overdue review from my weekend in Paso. A great tasting room with amazing bar like feel except no chairs. I loved the wine and enjoy the ambiance, the staff is friendly and worked really hard with the tourist in town just figuring out there was a wine event going on.
I look forward to the Wine for paws event.

Their wines are great and they are enthusiastic about their trade. They will be more than happy to share their opinions of other wines. The Syrahs they have are a good departure from Napa, their Rhone blends are unique and they have the cutest dogs.

I really enjoyed the wines at Edward Sellers. They produce Rhone varietals and the tasting room is small but inviting. I particularly liked the Blanc du Rhone (super fragrant with exotic tropical flavors) and the Grenache.
