Kevin Forsythe, MD

I was experiencing hip pain and went to Dr. Forsythe, thinking I perhaps had bursitis. Dr. took a few x-​rays, declared me arthritis free and sent me into physical therapy for four months. I did the therapy, did learn some pain management techniques, and went I went back for a follow up I told him it felt a little better, but was still painful. «well, if it’s better, just keep going to physical therapy,» he said. I tried to impress on him that the pain was less, NOT gone by any means. I did ask him about a swelling on my sacrolitic crest, which he told me was just inflammation. Upon thinking about it, I decided to get a second opinion. I traveled out of town to a large orthopedic practice in Fresno, CA, where I was given an MRI and diagnosed with a lipoma of my sacrolitic crest that was pressing on a nerve that ran through my hip and down the outside of my leg. It was removed surgically and I am now pain-​free. I honestly think Dr. Forsythe saw my troubles as the difficulties of a middle-​aged woman, and felt like my pain was taken much more seriously at the practice in Fresno. I lost many, many months of my life due to the oversight of missing that lipoma (which was larger than a golf ball and easily felt) so I honestly cannot recommend this doctor. I will say that you should ALWAYS seek a second opinion if something does not seem right. I just regret spending thousands (literally) out of pocket at physical therapy, which could help with pain management but ultimately could never have fixed that lipoma.

How is it I never reviewed Dr. Forsythe?
I was referred several years ago by my primary before he moved to Paso Robles. He diagnosed an Ortho issue I’ve dealt with since and helped me to avoid unnecessary medical procedures as a result as well as getting more fit to compensate for my Ortho issues.
Fast forward an Ortho flare up and we also had moved and I was scanning the web for a new Ortho DR. … And low and behold guess who’s name popped up?!
Well. It’s little bit of a drive for us to see him. However he left a very good medical center to come to the central coast and he is a very intuitive Dr.
He listens and does not push you towards surgeries or other invasive procedures unless it’s necessary and its what you as the patient want.
I personally avoid invasive procedures at all costs and he has been great to work with me. No judgement.
He has a clean modern office. He will refer you out if necessary but not if its not. Having spent several years dealing with various Ortho issues. I really appreciate this Dr. And his office.
It’s worth the drive to get quality medical care wherever that maybe.

We’ve been twice w/​2 different family members. Lobby is so comfy & staff is very friendly. The doctor was professional butnot stuffy. Seems like a straightforward & down to earth guy. If injured, I’d definitely go here again.

I’ve seen Dr Forsythe for injections in my knees I trust him! My knees are pretty bad, two surgeries However he suggested the injections & I’m in heaven. I do a lot of hiking & walking & he’s committed to me continuing

After several years of dealing with hip pain I finally decided to see a Dr. and find out what I was dealing with. I visited Dr. Forsythe, and after exams and x-​rays, I learned I had severe arthritis in both hips. Dr. Forsythe explained my condition fully, and gave me several options to deal with my condition.
After a period of time I realized I had no more options left, and together we made the decision that it was time to have hip replacement surgery. Prior to this decision I had never had any surgical procedures, and had never been in the hospital. Needless to say, I had a lot of questions, and anxiety. Dr. Forsythe answered every question I had in a clear, concise, and easily understood manner. He explained what would transpire both during, and after the surgery, and gave me the peace of mind that I was making the right decision.
Segway to five months later, two new hips, and I am virtually pain free for the first time in over nine years. Needless to say, I am very pleased that I was fortunate enough to have access to a Surgeon that has the skills that Dr. Forsythe posesses. I feel very comfortable in highly recommending Dr. Forsythe.
His office is well equipped, having the capability for on-​site x-​rays, and ultrasound. Not having to drive to a Radiology Clinic, and deal with additional forms, and personnel who will only see you one or twice, is a big bonus. His entire staff is Professional, Friendly, and extremely helpful.
A special thanks to Beth, who handled all of the insurance claims, scheduling of my visits, surgery, and hospital stay. Beth always made sure I was always taken care of, and up to date with everything.

Very with it. Like the fact the office has gone paperless. Very knowledgeable staff and Dr. Can take care of xrays right there in the office. No hassle of going to a separate lab.

Put those stereotypes away about surgeons when coming here; Dr. Frosythe is not your «typical» orthopedic surgeon.
My partner had an injury that needed an opinion from a surgeon about possible treatments. We called a few local places that we had heard good things about but the wait was 3 – 4 weeks to get in at most places. We thought that was crazy to wait that long and be in pain so we opted to do some research of some doctors on our own. We found Dr. Frosythe.
He is new to the area but has quite a few years of experience, a good resume and some good reviews found online, so we made the «leap» to see the new guy in town. Best leap ever!
When I made the appointment for my partner, Beth, his receptionist was very friendly, helpful and patient with me as I tend to be a little OCD and neurotic. She got her an appointment that afternoon.
The office is located in the newish business plaza on the corner of Niblick & 1^st, behind the CHC building. The office was very nice and modern and had a little area for kids to play. The office had a Keurig coffee maker so extra points for that awesome little machine. Unfortunately I don’t remember the nurse’s name but she was very pleasant as well with a good sense of humor. She laminated my partner’s id card and asked if we wanted anything else laminated while they were at it. We didn’t but it was a super neat gesture and just shows they go the extra mile.
Now down to business. Dr. Forsythe. You can’t ask for a better Doctor to explain your condition and options to you. He went over in fine detail what her affliction was and the multiple options we could peruse. He explained things in layman’s terms but did not talk to us like we were ignorant. My partner started to «shut down» with a little apprehension when talks of putting an injection into her joint came up. I think he realized this and started focusing his conversation towards me. I thought that was very astute of him and I was able to relay to her what all he said after her head was done reeling.
Dr. Forsythe has a good sense of humor is nice and seemed to genuinely care about her. He talked to us like we were human beings not just bodies or parts he had to work on. We appreciated his time as he spent a fair amount of it with us and answered numerous questions we had had. In the end she got the injection and it went as smoothly as those things can go so it looks like he has the skills to back it up too. I definitely would recommend him. Did you think I wasn’t after all that?

So sad to lose Dr. Forsythe. I have seen my share of orthopedists in the past 35 years and he is the BEST… If I could travel to Paso Robles to have him treat me and my insurance would cover it, I would be there in a heartbeat. He is the only doctor that suggested the Hyalgan injections for my knees. I have had several rounds of these injections in the past 3 years and they have helped immensely. I have told many people about Dr. Forsythe and although he never got a chance to perform my knee replacement (he thinks I am too young for that yet). I wish him much success in Paso Robles and being closer to his family. If you need a doctor that has a great personality and takes the time to get to know you and not just your ailments, he is the doctor for you.
