Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is a local maker and retailer of fine chocolates and ice cream. RMCF is located in charming downtown Paso Robles, California, on the central park. RMCF offers an extensive line of premium chocolate candies and other confectionery products – most made right in the store.

Offering over 300 chocolate candies and other confectionery products, using proprietary recipes developed primarily by its master candy maker, RMCF is your destination for a treat, gift or event. These products include many varieties of clusters, caramels, creams, meltaways, truffles, molded chocolates, caramel apples, fudge, and ice cream made in full view of the customer using traditional cooking utensils such as copper kettles on gas-​fired stoves and marble slab cooling tables.

A little bit of too much the snotty teenager cashier thing going on tonight. Bought some chocolates at 945 and was made to feel as though I was really putting her out despite the 10:00 pm closing time. Enjoyed the chocolates but would likely never go back because of the service.

What I like about this place the most is how late it’s open until. 10pm on a weekday is a winner winner chocolate for dinner!
What I didn’t like was that even though the sign on the window said it was open, it looked like it wasn’t open for business at all on the inside. The lighting was dim and when we first walked in nobody was there. We weren’t greeted right away (we came in at like 8:30 on a Wednesday, not a peak time, but you know), but eventually after a few minutes of our eyes glazing over at all the various assortments of chocolate we were greeted by an employee. She was a bit quiet, but very professional.
One thing they need to update is the prices. I’ve never been here before and I had no idea what half of that stuff cost. If you’re not going to put prices directly next to your product, at least have a legible sign that clearly states how much each product costs. The sign they do have looks like a lot of the prices have been ripped off and it gives the place a very «sketchy» feel. I had no idea how much I ordered cost until I went to the register. I would have preferred knowing beforehand.

I love this place. I love the environment and that everyone is so friendly. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet treat. The best caramel apples. And now they are carrying PEANUT CLUSTERS. Love it

We loooove this place. Spent way more than we should have, which is easy to do, since everything is so yummy.
Wouldn’t usually write a review about a place like this, EXCEPT, the hubby & I receive exemplary service today, which is not typical of a business like this. Noah, was the only employee we saw working there, he immediately greeted us even though he was assisting another family w/​2 little ones. He was fast, very personable & professional. He made appropriate suggestions, looked in the back for a product that wasn’t on the sales floor & politely apologized for the store not having the specific flavor candy apple I craved & explained which days they were made. He offered to cut & wrap the items up for us, since he knew we were traveling back up to the S.F. Bay Area & made my husband a gourmet rice crispy treat. We probably wouldn’t have bought as many items if we had gotten the service from sweet shops that we’ve become accustomed to — rude, unprofessional teenagers, who could care less about their jobs.
Noah is a gem & should be recognized by management, given a raise to make sure he doesn’t leave & hours that will accommodate his school schedule. His parents clearly raised him to be a respectful, courteous & intelligent young man. He’s working hard to pay for college, so stop by & give him a well deserved tip for his wonderful work ethic, not seen in many kids his age.

I ordered a carmel dipped apple and and chocolate covered marshmallow. The marshmallow looked delicious but the taste was stale. While sitting down I found a coupon for a buy one get one free Carmel apple. I brought it to one of the clerk who told me I couldn’t use it because I had to use it during the purchase…10 seconds ago. Wow next time I want Carmel apples I’ll go elsewhere.

We love our small town chocolate factory. A great place to enjoy both regular chocolates and sugar free chocolates. They also have an amazing assortment of candied apples or caramel apples.
I’ve never had bad service here. Sometimes there’s a short line and that just goes to show you that it’s a great place to visit.
Bottom line, I encourage you to check it out. It’s a great place for chocolate, caramel apples, ice cream and rice crispy treats.

Rip off report! Don’t come here unless you want to spend a lot of money on a small quantity of chocolate. For 4 chocolate truffles, 2 chocolate cherries, I paid $ 15! The chocolate is rich in flavor but you can get better chocolate (AKA Godiva) for less the cost. I probably wouldn’t have come in here had it not been for V-​day. In addition, you don’t really know what you’re paying for unless the chocolate is weighed and you don’t know the cost per weight. Really mad I spent that much money and received no chocolate!!! Rip off!!!

We were driving back from Cambria and it was a nice hot day and I said I need an Ice Cream Cone.
So as we detoured through Paso Robles there it was The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory!
We both had the Butter Pecan Ice Cream and it’s the best I’ve ever had. There is some unique ingredient that I can’t quite pinpoint but it really is the best.
The shop is lovely and the scent of chocolate intoxicating.
In short loved the experience.

I mainly come here for the caramel apples. They are delicious… especially the chocolate caramel creation ones. The fudge here is pretty tasty as well. Some of the other treats I have tried here seemed old and were barely edible (haystacks to name one). Prices are a bit high.

Fantastic local candy /​chocolate shop. We love to wander by here after a nice dinner on the square. Not the best I’ve ever had in my life, but tasty, excellent service, reasonably priced, & always satisfying. :)

I generally avoid chains most of the time and do not review them often, especially since people tend to be rather familiar with them, but family members dragged me into this Rocky Mountain outlet in downtown Paso Robles.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that it is a nice town and in recent years has become quite a happening place with tourists, the wine, etc., the town really lacks a good ice cream or candy place, being entirely dependent on a few, mostly mediocre, chains of which this is one.
I had been to a couple Rockmy Mountain stores over the years and was consistently unimpressed. This one was no different. Nothing was better than mediocre and a few things were truly not good. The divinity was downright terrible, which is the only time I’ve had actually nasty divinity — usually it might just be bland and sweet, etc., but never unpleasant. This actually tasted rather like it was made with egg whites that had gone bad, and otherwise had no flavour besides the nuts. A salted caramel clump was exceedingly sweet, with some saltiness, and otherwise tasteless whilst being very hard and dry.
The place inside was not very comfortable or interesting, or pleasant, which is minor but an issue nonetheless. At least it was moderately cool inside (it was about 100 F outside), but it should be since it sells chocolate and ice cream.
Service was at least friendly.
I am vacillating between 1 and 2 stars, but I think ti really deserves 2 stars, with 1 probably being my own personal negative reaction to the place that is perhaps a bit too subjective to be a valid gauge.

Yummy chain chocolate shop in downtown Paso Robles. They have lots of chocolate dipped goodies. Milkshake was okay, as was the chocolate covered Twinkie. Chocolate covered s’more was pretty good.

This place is right by the movie theaters and it is actually the only outside food that Park Cinemas allows in their theater since their landlord owns the theater! So that is a plus!
They are surprisingly opened later than you would expect this lazy little town to still have an OPEN sign hanging which is smart on their part since there are usually a lot of movie goers strolling to and from their cars! So already smarter than the old owners!
Their customer service is friendly and helpful and their chocolate though a chain is always fresh and just what you would want in a little indulgence. My only complaint is no one can seem to remove the calories! Arrrrgh!

It’s a chain, but I had to stop in…
I had seen one of the main stores in SF and always walked on by. When on vacation… I eat whatever… and then run it off. I picked up some chocolate, caramel-​covered, marshmallow concoction to satisfy my craving. All this walking in the evening made me wonder about fro yo and cupcakes. I politely asked the man behind the counter if he knew of a fro yo shop…
He looked at me and said…“umm, tart, I don’t know. I know we have a shop by the food savers.” Leave it to me to go ask the question. Yup, me.
I smiled… we could go big people… franchise time!
Service was phenomenal, and the cavity causing chocolate was great. Kudos for the samples that lured me in!

The rocky mountain chocolate factory, is a chain factory, well its not even a factory. But thats besides the fact. The reason i gave it a 3 was i tried one in arizona, and they hand made everything. I ordered a frozen banana, and it looks like they made it a day ago. In arizona, they hand dipped the chocolate, and the banana didnt make me lose teeth. The other stuff there was pretty good, like the chocolate covered strawberries. So if you are going to get stuff here, dont get the chocolate bananas.
