Vivant Fine Cheese

Enjoyed a wonderful glass of wine and an amazing cheese plate with my best friend here a couple days ago. Everything was amazing and I can’t wait to come back for another visit!

Loved this place! Broke up a road trip drive with a stop here. There were 2 lovely, friendly ladies minding the shop and hubby and I ordered the cheese platter. The servings were generous with a delicious combination of cheeses from hard to soft. The accompanying grilled bread was perfect. Would definitely stop here again when in the area. Hubby liked it so much he said it should be a regular stop on our road trips. I agree!

Danika put together the most beautiful tray for a shower we hosted. Multiple cheeses, olives, meats, dried fruit, bread and crackers. Reasonably priced! All the cheeses were labeled and all the staff was friendly. Highly recommend Vivant.

I sought out this place after falling for a cheese that was served in a wine and cheese pairing.
Let it be known that I’m not a huge cheese fan to begin with. However, after tasting several cheeses, discovered there is at least a handful that I genuinely enjoyed. Amy helped my friend and I and expertly suggested cheeses that were suited to each of our tastes.
I actually bought 4 cheeses on my own. They are delicious! Thankfully the shop ships through their website so I won’t have to make a 4 hour trip just to get more.

The store was packed with customers, and Amy handled the situation with class, and style. With so many people she juggled tasting’s, orders, and the phone like a pro. What an amazing asset she is to Vivant.
The store was clean, and we’ll organized, with an great prepackaged selection.

Place was so good and super mellow. Showed up before closing and they provided is with the best service ever anyway. It was one of the lady’s wedding anniversary, she was the cutest and most hospitibale

We ordered the wine and cheese tasting. It came with 4 cheeses and 4 wines. We chose to sit outside on a lovely patio. We were helped by two different ladies, neither of whom explained what the wines or cheeses were as they came out to pour. As the second wine was being poured, I asked what kind of wine it was, and the gal read the label of the company who made the wine. She said she was new to the wine business. I wonder what her training entailed. I didn’t even bother to ask what the cheese was.
You’d think that a business that was selling cheese would care to explain the cheeses that they are selling. In a region that has quickly grown in popularity due to wine, and continues to grow, you must put yourself on the map and stand out among the many other businesses that are doing the exact same thing. This place was completely unremarkable and quite honestly, disgraceful. To not even explain the wine or cheese is lazy, bad business, and offensive to the industry.
I will not be coming back at any point nor will I recommend.

Awesome cheese shop. Best in Paso Robles and unlike the other one… this one is actually open when we are in town. Local wineries buy from them for wine cheese pairings… and order 200 plus plates a week. Try the coconut flavored koko that goes well with chardonny. Also the British cotswold with onion and chives. Wow. They sell wine so you can sit inside or on the patio and enjoy.

If you go here be prepared to get ripped off and have really bad results !

Great idea but can not deliver!
We went on Saturday 7÷18÷15 to get a cheese and meat to go to eat at a winery .
We paid $ 28 for what I would say was $ 12 worth !
The cut every thing with their hands no gloves keep touching their hair at one point one girl answered the phone worked the computer then ran her hand though her hair pulled her pants up and went back to cutting our cheese and put it in a container.
They charge $ 2.00 for the addition of 4 olives and $ 2.00 for each meat add which is four slices ! Yikes
Then they put it all in a container «to go» and when you get there you get … See photo.
My suggestion .
Go to albertsins to blocks away and do it yourself !!
Not worth it at all !!
I give them a year !

I’ll start at the beginning of my miserable experience with these guys today ⁵⁄₂₄:
* They are still actively handing out fliers with the WRONG location, despite the fact they moved 2 blocks away «because we’ve printed out so many», so it took us a while to figure out where they actually were.
* When we got to the shop at 4:40, the guy repeatedly reprimanded us for being so close to 5, when they close, and continued to remind us how lucky we were that he was serving us.
* He didn’t know how to measure 8 ounces, he didn’t know if his scale was measuring in ounces or pounds. I literally had to go behind the counter, look at his scale, tell him it was measuring in pounds, and tell him that 8 ounces was half a pound.
* He never washed his hands before/​during working with the cheese, and he placed the cheese he cut directly on the scale without putting any paper/​etc down first.
* After getting home we realized he told us the wrong price for one of the cheeses (He said it was about 20% cheaper than it was), and HE DOUBLE CHARGED us for one of the cheeses we bought.
We bought $ 54 worth of stuff (actually $ 46 worth of stuff, which we got charged $ 54 for), and I regret every dollar of it. I will never go back into this place.
They need to seriously re evaluate their staff, and work on some of the finer points of their business.

This place is amazing. They were nice enough to let us try some stuff they had open and everything was incredible. They have a very knowledgable staff and great products, I just wish they had longer hours.

My go-​to cheese shop in Paso is actually Di Raimondos; they were the first place that I was able to find Koko cheese, a gouda cheese made from coconut milk. So I went to Di Raimondos and they were sold out. Oh no!!!, So I got on Unilocal and found Vivant which was about 3 blocks away from the park in downtown. Luckily, they too carry the much coveted Koko. Looks like a great place to get sandwiches, but I was soley on a Koko hunt on my last visit.

This is a cute place, filled with International goodies. I wanted to pick up sheep cheese for dinner. They had a Gouda we’ve never tried and sample named Ewphoria. (Pronounced euphoria) we’ll definitely be back to try the wine tasting, which is a separate room. Has a great atmosphere, feels like I stepped into a shop in Tuscany.

Excellent selection of cheese in Paso Robles. The Central Coast Goat Gouda is amazing! Danika carries local California cheeses as well as cheeses from around the world. I believe there were over 100 varieties of cheese on display.
Tips:
1. Ask the Vivant team what they have that is new or different. I tried an espresso rubbed cheese and fell in love. My wife was a little jealous.
2. Bring in your favorite wine that you are going to use at your dinner party. Danika will pair it with a couple cheeses from around the world. Your friends will think you are a genius.
3. They do cut and wrap. It is so much fun tasting as you order… just remember your budget because it can get crazy fun!

Neat little shop with cool cheese selections and also a small lunch menu. They serve wine and cheese pairings as well with local wine and also have local beer. Patio area and inside can accommodate about 20 people.

Vivant Fine Cheese Shop was a little disappointing in that we had so much expectations to at least get the best of the best local cheeses. Well, it was not the case. There was hardly any explanation from the server about the store including the selection of cheeses that we were going to taste. What rang out was, «I’m sorry, but I’m swamped.» Note it was 3:15PM last Sunday.
The cheese plate was a fair price, but the presentation and the selections were nothing to write home. Missing was the «wow factor» from cheeses that we tasted. What did we taste? I still have no idea.
I will never return to this cheese shop again. I regret making this place a location to visit. We’ll visit the other cheese shop in town the next time we visit Paso Robles.

Great little cheese shop that has all you need for a day of wine tasting.
PRO TIP: Do not go wine tasting without some munchies! Your tummy (and your head) will appreciate it. Plus it’s fun to pair the wine with what you brought.
Check in on Unilocal and you will recieve a free cheese tasting ($ 5 value). However, we went for the full wine & cheese tasting and they were able to take $ 5 off of the bill! Wonderful customer service.
The red wine & cheese paring was fabulous. I loved every cheese on that flight. I ended up buying every cheese on that pairing but the first one.
The outdoor covered patio is quaint and comfortable. The vine entangled patio cover surrounds you with lovely lush greenery. My girlfriend and I spent the first hour of our morning enjoying the weather, wine, and cheese. Life doesn’t get much better than that!

We did a free cheese tasting, compliments of checking in with Unilocal.
Just so you know, there were five cheeses, all tiny portions. Just enough so that we each got a nibble of each. We also purchased a dry salami and a day old baguette for $ 1. The nice lady at the counter sliced our bread and salami and plated it for us so we could sit under the trees in their delightful patio.
The San Francisco Molanari dry salami was excellent.
The cheeses were good, better than many, but nothing we felt inclined to buy. They are a retailer for multiple brands of cheeses, some more unusual, such as the one with an outer layer of coffee grounds and lavender flavor. There were two types of gouda and a sharp cheddar, and the last one I am not sure what it was. After having done multiple cheese tastings in Oregon, some straight from the factory, and not that long ago, these were ok but not astounding.
Still, a decent stop. And why pass up free cheese? You might find some you like. And you will enjoy relaxing in the patio. Bring your fruit and wine.
