Cute and quaint place to have an iced coffee. The staff was friendly, food was OK, and the service was a little slow. Over all good spot for someone that wants to relax in the park.

I stumbled upon this charming little café while heading to a pond and geese park with my son. I noticed it’s quaintness in the middle of this quiet area of Passaic and headed in. Nice décor of boats and nautical stars(in love with them!) and settled down with a brownie for myself and cupcake for my son. Clean outdoor bathrooms and grill items available. Outdoor seating as well, major plus! They can do away with the typical upbeat pop music but I won’t complain! I can just take my food outside next time! Visit if ever in the Passaic area. Great for first time dates and casual meets as well!

Please update your profile to reflect current opening hours and dates. Drove 20 minutes out of my way to find the place padlocked shut. It is very disrespectful of the lives of others to advertise you are open when you are closed, possibly for the season.

The Boathouse Café is my all time favorite café in New Jersey. Last November, my mom and sister threw me a beautiful bridal shower there and it was beyond amazing! The cozy ambiance of the café with that great view of the pond and the park made the evening absolutely beautiful and a memorable one. The staff was very helpful and cooperative, they helped out with everything from the setup, to decorating the café to serving the food. They allowed my sister to decorate the place and weren’t too fussy about anything. They even let them borrow their manzanita trees and step and repeat banner for the event! I am so glad we had my shower over there it was exactly as I imagined. And, I am so thankful to the staff of the Boathouse café for making my bridal shower such a memorable one. I would definitely recommend the Boathouse Café to others to host their events. P. S.Their lattes and paninis are Ah-mazing

The Boathouse Café is the perfect addition to one of the most genteel areas in Passaic. Located in Third Ward Park — the boathouse offers stunning views perfect for any season; whether you come to watch the flowers bloom in the Spring, or the leaves turn in the Fall. The Boathouse has been restored to cater to the diverse community which is currently the fastest growing city in New Jersey. Please note, this is not a full service restaurant, however refreshments range from delicious artisan sandwiches, locally brewed coffees to ice cream where you can taste the originality in every scoop. Enjoy!

It’s a nice little operation in the middle of the park. I would consider it an upscale snackbar. I was in the area on Sunday morning for a 5K race and ordered Ron’s Quesadilla. It was spicy and delicious. Not much is offered in the way of meals. It’s mostly snacks and drinks.

Needed to work for a few hours this morning so set up camp at the Boathouse and really enjoyed myself. Had a bagel and coffee for under $ 5. They get their bagels from Barry’s bagels, so they’re really good. The barista was really nice and accommodating. Great coffee. Plenty of seating. But most importantly BEAUTIFUL fall scenery. They have a great patio area, and it was allllmost warm enough to venture out and sit but I didn’t dare. They had the doors open anyhow so I got the feel of being outside. Saw they have a poetry night coming up, it’s a great location for that kind of thing so I hope they do more of it. I think they could benefit from some more loungey seating, like a little couch/coffee table, etc.

Conveniently located in a park and near the train station… and the prices are good. But their ice cream was so-so and my friend’s freshly squeezed OJ was sour…

I happened to come at a time when they were short staffed, but Tim the barista made the best of it. The line got really long, and he was the only one working, but he was acknowledging every customer, and apologizing for the wait. I happened to order the chicken parm sandwich which was a bit more time consuming than to get than a scoop of ice cream. He politely asked if he could take care of the line before making my sandwich, and I told him it was totally fine. The line wasn’t letting up, so he told the customers they would have to wait for a couple minutes because he had to make my order. When I received it, he said that if there was any issue with my order he would let me get something else, on the house. The chicken parm wasn’t a culinary masterpiece, but honestly, I was hungry and it really wasn’t bad! Breaded chicken cutlet with roasted red pepper, basil and cheese(mozz or Swiss, I think) on nice bread, and grilled like a panini. I finished my sandwich and he asked if there was anything I wanted — I just asked him to refill my ice coffee, and he went a step further by making me an iced latte. He even remembered what flavor I got previously and that I only got one pump of syrup. He did everything right in a situation that could have ended a disaster. Thanks Tim, for one of the greatest customer service experiences I’ve had in a long while!

Visited here on a very nice Friday early evening where weather was perfect and coffee was good. Didnt really notice the menu as the place is inassuming but a very nice place to hang out with someone. The pond is nice with some fishes in it too. It is located inside of Third Ward Park and if you take a walk or run around and return to the boathouse to relax, it works quite well.

I had my first visit to the café yesterday. My husband and I ordered cappuccino’s which were delicious. While the employee appeared to be new, he was quite charming and friendly. We sat on the terrace which was relaxing and peaceful. What ruined the experience were some kids thought they were funny by throwing someone’s bike in the lake. We did not realize what was going on at the time and when it happened those in the park and café were stunned. They quickly ran away as we stood trying to think of a way to remove the bike and discussing our dismay how they can turn something good to bad. The bike was too far from the edge to retrieve it so it was painful to walk away and see it still sitting there. While this was no fault of the café, it will make me think again if I want to be in the park to witness such acts of disregard for others and their property.

I made my first trip to the new café tonight. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The café offers a selection of coffee drinks, pastries, sandwiches, and ice cream. On as lovely a night is it was, I wanted ice cream. They had about 8 or 10 flavors of hard scoop. I got two scoops of sweet and salty caramel. The scoops were large and the ice cream was flavorful. I also got a medium(20 oz I’m guessing) iced coffee. The prices are very reasonable. All told the ice cream and iced coffee was under $ 5. The coffee itself was $ 1.75. Much cheaper than small iced coffees at any chain. The setting can’t be beat. Sitting by the brook on a nice summer night enjoying coffee and ice cream was great. Even if there isn’t a seat on the patio, there is plenty of seating in the park. It was great to see that structure turned into a business that enhances the park and the neighborhood. I look forward to going back and I encourage people to support the business.
