I personally have visited this tree. Highly recommend it if your looking for a good scare! As i was walking out down the path i was snapping pictures behind me and actually caught a picture of a strange mist floating. It wasnt foggy out and noone i was with was smoking. Deffinatley a place to visit if your into paranormal sightings.

Patchogue’s Hanging Tree is almost exclusively known only by paranormal investigator types who are looking for good haunts. For locale, fog, and energy, I’ll give them that, as this is a great spot. Folklore about the tree ranges from witch trial hangings to suicides, though historical record does not evidence such happenings. It is a relatively peaceful spot on the Swan River(about 200 feet from Grove Street, which is a quiet residential road). Personally, I detected no strange phenomenon or occurrences here in the times I’ve visited, other than my associate skinny dipping in the muck, and our absinthe-inspired poetry readings and hymns(directed at the tree, not spirits). There is a dug-out fire pit that seems to encourage night visits, though the paranormal investigators would likely recommend otherwise. Very cool.
