Joyce Tips Nail & Spa

Went into this nail salon yesterday. Being new to the area I figured I would try a few nail salons before finding «the one» and this happened to be the first salon I tried and I will not be going back. I wish I had read some of the other Unilocal reviewers wrote before I stopped in because they were spot on and I had a similar experience as some others have had. I walked in at about 2:15 and asked for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. The women (who was doing someone’s nails said «ok pick a out color» I picked my color, which took me about two minutes and sat down and waited, and waited, and waited. (Btw, they all looked like they were with a customer and I was the only one waiting) I looked at my phone and realized it was now 2:45! When I got up and asked how long it would be and even asked if I should come back she said (abruptly) «no go sit in back for pedicure» although I said to myself I should probably leave, I really didn’t want to go to another salon and I really needed a manicure!
The women who did my pedicure was nice enough and did an average job. Then they sat me down at a manicure table and once again I waited… finally a different women then the one who did my pedicure came over and started with that electric file and I told her no so she got up and just left my table… then another women came over and started to file my nails (did the other lady not know how to use a nail file?) anyway, she filed my nails and left to go start a manicure at the next table! The fourth women came over a few minutes after that and kept apologizing as she finished doing my gel manicure while also doing another women’s gel manicure! I never saw anything like that! Of course she was rushing back and fourth while trying to do two gels at the same time
Four women, 1 gel mani and regular pedi and walking out at 4:55 (I kid you not, from walking in at 2:15) I would have to say I’ll be looking to try another nail salon next time.

This place is awful I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone .and the owner is rude an argumentative. The nail technician that did my nails filed them too narrow on one hand and when I asked that it be fixed the owner came by to fix them and berated me so badly I had to ask her politely to please be quite and fix my nails so I could leave… needless to say I had to Goto another salon to have them fixed… horrible experience

Very clean salon and staff is very friendly BUT they ALWAYS make you wait (with or without appointment). They’ll seat you so it seems like you’ll be taken care of soon when you can be sitting there for a half hour. It’s truly a hit or miss. Only had one bad experience while going there after a few years. I had taken my tips off and wanted a gel manicure but «Joyce» gave me no say and put a new set of tips on because my nails weren’t «ready”(reminder: the acrylic full set is what ruined my nails). They have a huge variety of gel colors which is a plus and seems to bring customers in. Highly recommended for gel manicures (at the right time of day).

I just left from there and it took 2 ½ hours for mani pedi. Three people doing my nails and couldn’t have one consistent person. The guy did the worst job in the world that it looks like a 5 year old kid did it. I will neverr come back here again

I’m so disappointed. I have been coming here for years! The owner does a great fill in. His wife, well she needs to learn some manners and how to talk to people.
I had to go to a different girl because «Joyce’s» husband wasn’t there. This girl insisted on using that drill to file down my nails (I get acrylic fill-​ins). I asked her (as I always do) to NOT use the drill. My nails are so thin and weak that they actually burn from the drill. She seemed to be annoyed and then starting talking to «Joyce» in their native tongue (insert occasional giggles here). So «Joyce» then proceeds to tell me that I have to have drill– I have no choice. With that, I told her I do have a choice… and I picked up my bag and motioned to leave. Add some more native language exchanges and low and behold! What appears before my eyes? An Emory board! A nail file. Like in the good old days. Not a tool that cuts the production time in half but leaves my nails burning and aching.
So, I let her do my French fill-​in (she did a nice job), but all the while kept snickering and snearing with «Joyce», along with some other worker who stood over me like a guard. When she proceeded to motion me for my pedicure (I had come in for a fill in and a pedi — I had even picked color), I told them that not only was I not getting a pedi, but that I wouldn’t be back ever again (not nasty, not emotional– just factual), and they stood there giggling.
Simply bizarre.
I’m sad to say that I will never go back there. There are some awesome techs that work there, but for the fact that I was treated like an idiot (I’m sure my review doesn’t sound anywhere near to what actually transpired, but trust me– she was snarky and nasty to the point that the only other customer that was there turned around in her seat and mouthed «OMG» to me for how they chose to talk to me).
Toodles Joyce nails– you’re not what you used to be and I certainly don’t need to pay you so that you can treat me like crap.

What is the point of making an appointment if they can’t honor the appointment. Been waiting for 45 minutes for a pedi. They said 10 minutes. Noone has even come over to me. This place sux. I won’t come here again.

Terrible! The girl ripped off my cuticle with the cuticle cutter and blood was all over my nail. She said she would clean it and sanitize it. She just kept painting my nails and getting blood in the nail color she used on me. She painted around the blood and never cleaned by nail. I left with a bloody nail! It was disgusting and unsanitary. I will NEVER go there again. It’s disgraceful.

I have given this nail salon so many chances… so many… and why? Because a couple of the girls actually do a decent job with French gel manicure but overall they are RUDE and do not appreciate their customers! They speak harshly about you in their language if you ask or object to anything, which isn’t professional or fair. I work with my hands and it’s important that my nails not break secondary to over filing, so when I ask not to file my nail bed with the electric machine (that destroys the nail) they get mad! Truth is, that’s unnecessary… gel polish comes off after a few minutes of soaking but they just want you in and out. The wait is horrendous with or without an appointment and the service needs significant improvement! They lost me as a customer!!!

Came to this salon because i live pretty close. i waited for 10 mins and was told to pick a color. i did what i was told someone came after me and got in a chair before me. i wasnt ok with that but i let it pass. finally i get into a pedicure chair and get a RUSHED pedicure. She didnt even file my nails straight. Very disappointed! My toe nails are uneven i had to come home and fix everything. Ridiculous wait time and service!

I’ve given this place so many chances. There is no where else that seems as clean so I kept coming back but I’m done. Not only does every manicure come out completely bubbled over but they have made me bleed on two separate occasions! First was my cuticle on my fingernail and then another time my big toe — two different manicurists too! On top of hacking me up, the pushing of their «spa» pedicure is annoying as hell. I kept asking for a just pedicure and callus remover and was continually pushed into a $ 45 spa pedicure! They are overpriced too. $ 18 for a basic pedicure and $ 7 for callus remover? ehhh no thanks I’m done.

I used to love Joyce nails. The awesome music and ambiance and every technician was skilled. But now, this place gets worse every time and I’ll never go back. Last time I was there, a very inexperienced girl was doing my nails and when I requested that she clean under my nails of the dark polish she just took off, I had to do it myself because she seemed to be giving her first ever manicure and she didn’t ask for assistance. I also asked for her to paint one nail sparkly and when she didn’t understand she just kept saying «sorry» …so today I went again as a last attempt. First of all, the girl who did my pedicure had horrific breath that I could smell from my seat but whatever. next, she kept coughing on my feet, like spit-​flying coughing… after she let my feet sit in cold water, she attacked my cuticles in a pretty painful way with the clippers and ended up doing a complete chop job. She ALSO knocked into my nails as she was painting them, and didn’t really correct the issue. She was really distracted by the other workers they kept talking and didn’t seem to be giving their work the attention it needs. My last complaint is the amount of polish they use. It’s as if they are supposed to leave as little as possible. My nails are completely streaky and you can basically aww through them. The only reason this place gets 1 star is because it’s clean which I can definitely find elsewhere. Sorry Joyce, with all the competition I won’t be back!

If I reviewed Joyce’s when I first started coming it would have been a given 5 stars but lately I haven’t had the greatest experiences. They are sometimes very under staffed and you have to wait a very long time with or without an appointment. On days like this they also rush the manicure/​pedicure.
Other than this they are very good and I have been coming here for years. There is an overwhelming amount of gel colors and they have the entire Essie collection which is awesome.
Prices are on the lower side I’ve seen for gel manicures and pedicures. 99% of the time I get my eyebrows done they come out great.
Make sure you get the punch card, Every 10^th time you get a free massage!

Waited ½ hour just to sit in pedicure chair another 20 minutes while other people who came after me went ahead of me because there was one person doing gel pedicures. Then it was going to take another hour to get my gel manicure done so I chose just to do a French manicure and that was going to take 25 MINUTES!!! First impressions are everything!!!

I will never go back to this place. I have been there a few times and the service was… Ok. Today when I went in, there was one person ahead of me and three people who came in after me. Everyone who came in after me was seated first. Eventually I was sat in a pedicure chair for some reason to have to wait for a half an hour with not one person even looking my way. It was not very busy and half of the staff was standing around talking. Each time I asked how much longer I was told «2 minutes». After 40 minutes of watching the staff stand around the front talking I got up and said I was leaving and couldn’t wait any longer. Of course, THEN someone magically became available and was trying to get me to stay. I’m sorry but this place is completely unprofessional with no structure or customer service. The manicures never last more than a day anyway. I will definitely be finding someplace new.

The only nail salon I will go to! Always clean and beautiful, staff is so nice and accommodating, and my nails always look beautiful!

This review has no malice. I am not a picky nail person at all. Basically if you don’t spill the bottle on me, I don’t complain. With that being said, they have lost a client today. There are a million salons. I asked for a gel manicure and pedicure. I don’t pay attention and hover when they are painting, but he was half done and he hadnt done the gel. Of course they could’ve re-​done it, but who has time for that?
Next, gel manicure French. Took forever, line isn’t straight and I have white polish on my skin. Overall it’s a language barrier. I said gel pedicure several times and I voiced my unhappiness. The owner and her husband weren’t there just now, just the rude manager who reminded me that he forgot to add an extra 5 on for French! Really, it wasn’t even well done. If this was the first time being super unhappy i would probably return but other than the décor I’m not really too impressed with the rest. Again, my money will be spent elsewhere.

The only nail salon i will go to! absolutely the best. Joyce and her staff are so friendly and they always do an amazing job. i go here once a month for a gel manicure and pedicure. My gel manicures last so much longer getting them done here than at any other salon. the salon is always immaculate, they have soooo many high quality polishes to choose from and the staff truly cares about their customers. you will not be disappointed!

Joyce and Ricky are absolute miracle workers! Joyce has been doing my nails for over 5 years now, and i will not let anyone other than the two of them touch my fingers! I hate to say it, but I’ve been known to be super picky, and a bit of a nail snob, and when i found them i fell in love! The amount of time, effort and perfection they put into their craft is incredible! I also have a couple crooked fingers, that they manage to shape the nails to so you cant notice at all! they truly are not only great at what they do, but are also wonderful people.
The pedicures there are also amazing as well! whether i am in a rush, and get a basic pedi, or a fabulous spa pedicure, you never feel rushed and are always pampered. In the Patchogue salon (as they also have one in Islip Terrace, and i go to both and as i said i can be super picky), Jenny is amazing !!!
Yes sometimes you may have to wait, but all good things in life are worth the wait! Make sure you check them out, you wont be disappointed!

Really disappointed with my experience at this salon. The «nail tech» completely disregarded my request to keep the length of my nails and make them round when she cut my nails short and filed them square.
More importantly … by accident the tech sitting next to mine spilled rubbing alcohol on me and my MK purse … ruining the finish of my bag. The boss was out, but when he returned I told him what happened and he said «no, rubbing alcohol wouldn’t do that» !
Seriously? Terrible customer service …
This establishment makes you feel like you should be happy with whatever they provide… and if you disagree they talk about you. WACKNESS !
With countless nail salons around town. this place should be doing whatever makes the customer happy and whatever it takes to keep them coming back. Instead the man basically called me a liar. and yelled in my face.
Pass this place up. but visit Swirls and Twirls next door if you happen to be close by. :-)

I would give Joyce Nails 5 stars but one time I made my appt for my favorite nail tech Kevin and he was with another customer. I was annoyed because I had that time slot and I had to get my nails done by Lisa, who is also very good.
Beautiful salon, very friendly, and I highly recommend you find a tech that you like and make an appt, they tend to be really busy.
My one bad experience was not enough to turn me away. The other nail salons in the area and not very clean and even have a bit of a smell to them.
I recommend the Rose Pedicure, worth the $ 30– of pure relaxation, and the shellac manicure is the way to go!
