Experience the thrill of flying over the treetops and rugged terrain of the La Jolla Indian Reservation with speeds up to 55 mph on the longest zipline of its kind in California. The 6,273 foot course runs parallel to the San Luis Rey River, providing riders with amazing views of one of San Diego County’s most picturesque areas. La Jolla Zip Zoom Zipline has three runs plus a teaser run and three 30 foot towers. The course begins and ends at the La Jolla Indian Campground near scenic Palomar Mountain off Hwy 76.
After the training, riders will be transported up the side of the mountain to the highest tower. Along the way, riders can enjoy views of the reservation and learn about the history of the area and the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians from the tour guides.
The Initial launch is from 3,000 feet. Riders will experience a 291 foot drop while soaring 2,500 feet across the treetops. There is short nature hike through the oaks to the second tower and another ride of 1,430 feet with a 107 foot drop. The third and final decent sends you zooming 2071 feet through the trees and across the San Luis Rey River to complete the thrill ride back at the campground.
The zipline experience will last approximately 2 ½ hours and is designed for individuals weighing 65 to 275 pounds. Make it a weekend adventure! Bring your tent and get a campsite at the La Jolla Indian Campground or plan to pack a picnic lunch and zip and stay for the day!
History
Established in 1930.
The La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians, one of five California Luiseño tribes, have lived in North San Diego County for thousands of years. Nestled at the foothills of the Palomar Mountain range, the reservation has been a vacation destination since the 1930’s when the Tribe opened the La Jolla Indian Campground. The highlight of camping at La Jolla is renting rubber tire tubes for an old fashioned splash of fun on the San Luis Rey River.
The newest attraction at the campground is La Jolla Zip Zoom, a zipline tour providing riders with spectacular views of mountain peaks, lush green canyons and rustic steep slopes of the reservation.
