A Happy Hostess

I wouldn’t have a party without A Happy Hostess. We’ve used their services for several parties, including our annual New Year’s Eve Dinner. Professional, courteous and a great way to be able to be a guest and enjoy your own party. They take care of all the set up, clean up and serving for you, so you can entertain your guests. Many compliments from all our guests, and I always say, «It’s not a party without them!»

We hired A Happy Hostess for our daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner and post wedding brunch at a huge house called Clamshell Landing that we rented in Essex. Between 40 – 60 people attended each event. Camille and Linda were our servers and they did a fabulous job picking up our food from Whole Foods, setting it up, serving, refreshing everything and cleaning up. They were so professional and personal, sweet and were able to adapt to serving in a house that they and we hadn’t been to before. We would like to give them and A Happy Hostess our highest recommendation! The price for the services was very reasonable too. Maria Catalano the owner of the company was sweet, thoughtful, very organized professional and a pleasure to work with. Our families are foodies, throw great parties and are sticklers for details. Working with A Happy Hostess was a perfect match for us!

Good news/​Bad news. So, I’ve used A Happy Hostess for the last two years for my in house — very large Christmas party… both years I have expressed concern that this party is big and very busy — I requested each year three servers and one bartender… A Happy Hostest agreed.
The first year, the day of my party, they let me know that only 2 servers could make it — I was told that one server was ill and that this happens — there is nothing they can do about it — so we went ahead and… bug surprise… things did not run as smoothly as they would have with the three servers… fool me once…
Fast forward to this past Christmas — ok, so I’m a little late in this review… wouldn’t you know the SAME thing happened again… requested three servers and lo and behold the same day of the party — only two servers could make it. Now, fool me twice, I think not… Appetizers came out cold, food on the table was not replenished — I ended up cooking some of the food…
Once again, I was told that a server was sick… the owner said there was nothing she could do as they were extremely busy at other events… larger events… more important events i suppose!
You know, what is interesting is that she kept telling me — and I quote: «there is nothing one can do when a staffer calls in sick»…Really??? Really? Are you running a business?
I contract musicians all the time for very large and small jobs… if a musician can’t make it to a gig — do you think I call the manager and tell them that this happens, and there is nothing I can do? No, — I have a list of back up musicians that can cover the gig — because that is what running a professional business is all about.
In closing, if you are a large, important organization like the Crane Estate, by all means hire A Happy Hostest… they won’t cancel out on you… but if you are an average person trying to put on a nice large party… I’m afraid you are taking your chances…

We love A Happy Hostess! They have been so helpful with our large family functions. Maria helps to make sure everything runs smoothly from setup to cleanup and everything in between. Highly recommend using her services!

I used A Happy Hostess for my wife’s birthday party. Janet came over right as scheduled, she got the dining room ready for my guests. As the guests arrived she made drinks, served appetizers, then the meal. After the meal she washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen. I would use A Happy Hostess anytime for a party.

I hosted my daughter’s bridal shower at home. We had 40 guests so I decided to hire someone to help out during the event so that I could spend time with my guests instead of trying to keep an eye on food, drinks, etc. Sharon from Happy Hostess came to our home one hour before the event started. I showed her around the kitchen, told her what needed to be heated up and where to set it out, showed her the coffee makers, etc. and she took it from there. I didn’t have to worry about a thing as she heated food, served, replenished, cleared, washed dishes, and put away food when everyone was done with the buffet. We used disposables as much as possible but there were still plenty of serving pieces to be cleaned up. It was just so much more relaxing not having to worry about all of the details and I was able to talk to my guests and enjoy my daughter’s shower. I would definitely use this service again!
