Westside Event Center

The Westside Event Center contains a building for events, a playground for the kids, a big splash pad, a pavilion and shaded seating (benches/​Picnic tables). Ample amount of parking. The playground is good for children — ages maybe 4 – 5 years on up. I did bring my toddler here to enjoy the splash pad but he was more interested in the play ground. There are no canopies over the play structures so the equipment (and the slide) gets really hot in the summer. Too hot to slide on in my opinion. The splash pad, while large, needs some maintenance. There were areas of the splash pad that looked dingy in color and I noticed one of the spouts had brownish looking water coming out. The splash pad area is set lower with steps leading up to a grassy hill. Below that is a walking trail. It’s a good place to take the kids to burn off some energy but during the peak sunny hours, maybe not so much. There is plenty of shaded areas for parents to sit and watch their kids though. The pavilion hosts a grilling area and public bathrooms. I did not get a chance to go to the pavilion though since we mainly stuck to the splash pad and playground area. I think it’s also referred to as Southdown Park but when you google it, it says Southdown Dog Park which is true that there is a dog park on the other side of the event center.

Water park/​splash pad doesn’t work. No sign to say out of service! The phone goes straight to a busy signal each time you call.
