History

Established in 1987.

Twin Brothers Rick and Dave Griffith have been involved in the Art Gallery business since childhood. They began accompanying their mother to local art shows to help her with her art sales. As they began to have great success in selling her paintings, the other artists began to take notice. Artists started to ask if they would put their art in with their mom’s. Rick and Dave’s parents saw the need for representation from the artists as well as the public’s desire for great art, and opened the first three locations in the Dallas, Texas area where they had moved to in the late 1960s. After Dave and Rick graduated from high school in 1984, they moved back to the Birmingham, Alabama area to attend the University of Montevallo. Their parents Richard and Jenny quickly sold the businesses and returned home to Birmingham. In 1987 they opened up the new Gallery that has become a landmark business in the south-east.

Rick and Dave G.

Business Owner

Rick and Dave Griffith are identical twin brothers. They are both married (sorry Ladies) and have five children between them, but not together (sorry Fellas). They are very passionate about art and framing. They say that their sickness is that they really like buying art, but that they cannot keep it all for themselves, and being twins, they learned to share at an early age. Rick considers himself a framing savant. Dave says that is half right. The brothers also start to get nervous if the frame selection dwindles much below the 10,000 mark. That is when they start coming up with new finishes and designs in order to have an excuse to refill the frame warehouse located above the gallery. Their motto is that no art is complete until it is properly framed. The brothers love visiting with their customers who say that it is entertaining just to come in to have their spirits lifted, if not their wallet. OOPS, did I write that down out loud. We hope that you are smiling with us.
