I’ve been meaning to write this review for a while! I originally brought my bridesmaid dress to another tailor and she was not able to do what I was hoping for because of the level of difficulty. In a serious crunch a week before the wedding I was very stressed and thankfully found Michael! He did a beautiful job and very kindly fit in my last minute job even though he seemed to be quite busy with all the fall weddings! Michael is incredibly warm and welcoming. I had to bring my very young baby with me to the fitting(not ideal!) and he could not have been more accommodating! I will certainly be back. His quality of work is comparable(if not better) then what you would expect on Newbury St.(I would know, I had my wedding dress fitted there a few yrs ago :)) so happy to have such a great local resource!

Michael is wonderful. Have had several pieces altered here as I am very petite. Every item is beautifully done, I used to alter my own things but life is busy and he does a MUCH better job… and so quickly. Never longer than a week. He is willing to work with me if I need something quickly. In addition to his wonderful tailoring, he is kind, friendly and seems to remember everyone. greets everyone by name when they walk in the door. Love the«old fashioned’ customer service, as my kids call it.

I went here back in 2010 as a bridesmaid in a wedding. We had dresses that were really low cut, and didn’t allow for a bra. I am not well endowed in that area so this was difficult for me to feel feminine in that dress. He was able to recreate the top of the dress and made me feel fabulous. He is the owner and I believe works with one other person but does a lot of his own business. Dress took about a week and looked great. I got married in 2013(june) and bought my dress at a shop in Syracuse NY. I ended up paying HUNDREDS of dollars on alterations for this dress at this shop because again, the bust was a HUGE issue. After three different times of me driving 6 hours each way to get this fixed not to my liking, I said in the back of my mind I should have gone to Michaels in the first place, I ended up taking my dress to him. Upon walking in, he remembered the wedding i Was in 3 years prior which was nice. I also didn’t give him too much of a background of what I didn’t like about my dress. I told him I have had it altered 3, times and I am not happy, and he knew my wedding was in 2 weeks(right around prom season). I knew he was squeezing me in, even though he never made me feel like this was impossible. As soon as I put the dress on, and came out of the dressing room, he knew EXACTLY what was wrong with the dress without me telling him. This made me immediately feel better. It was a little difficult, as the top of my dress had a bunch of lace on it, he had to rip it apart right in front of me, in order to make the bust line tighter, and he HANDSEW all the lace right back on. Swear, you would have had no idea this was done looking at the dress. He had the dress done in a few days. To top it off, doing this last minute, squeezing me in, and ripping apart a wedding dress to hand sew it back together, he charged me 50% less than 1 of the 3 previous alterations I had before. Honestly, I will never go anywhere else. He knows his stuff. He may not wear a suit, or have a very outgoing personality, but he is passionate, caring, and wildly skilled.

Love Michael’s. My Matron of Honor bought and altered her wedding dress here… not only was is completely affordable, her dress was gorgeous and Michael is awesome. So obviously I followed suit and bought my dress here… another diamond in the rough! I’ve had multiple items altered here and it’s so affordable and they do a great job. Michael definitely knows his stuff and can pretty much do anything you want. He doesn’t have a huge selection of wedding dresses but even if you don’t purchase your dress here I’d highly recommend using him for your alterations(for a wedding dress or anything else)!!

BESTBRIDALSHOP! I could not have asked for a better experience buying my wedding dress. I had been to the major chains as well as some smaller ones, and none can compare to the experience I had at Michaels. Each dress i tried on he worked with me on what he could alter that I didnt want. I ended up falling in love with a dress outside my price range, and since the floor model fit, he discounted it for me and I was able to get my dream dress. We were there several hours and Michael was nothing but polite and helpful the entire time. They have a great selection of dresses to fit all budgets. I recommmend Michaels of Boston to every bride!

My bridal party purchased their bridesmaid dresses from Michael. He made the shopping experience fun and did a great job with the alterations.

Michael made my wedding veil and did a fabulous job – it was stunning… I had found the veil of my dreams at a Newbury Street shop but it was completely out of my budget. I went to Michael and described what I wanted: angel cut, fingertip length, diamond white satin trimmed, and he told me he could make it in two weeks at less than half the cost of Newbury Street quote. When the veil was ready to pick up, I realized I had told him the wrong size width for the satin trim(3/8″ versus the 1/8″ that I actually wanted). It was completely my fault, but Michael insisted that the veil be perfect for me, so he completely redid the trim at no added cost. The result was beautiful and perfect… thank you Michael!

In contrast to the previous review, I had a great experience with Michael when he made my prom dress. Finding nothing in the store that was suitable, we designed a gorgeous princessy ballgown which was exactly what I wanted. I’m a fat girl, and I expected to find the whole process humiliating and depressing, but Michael made me so happy and comfortable. He assured me that I would be beautiful in my dress, and I was. I’m planning on going to him to get my wedding gown as well.

If you are looking for someone to design a wedding gown for you — skip this bridal shop!!! After seeing Michael(just one visit) for a wedding dress design(he did draw a really nice picture of a simple dress that I envisioned — no frills), I asked for a price quote on the dress(with a sample fabric swatch he gave me). He told me he couldn’t give me a price quote until he spoke to the fabric dealer. In addition, he was supposed to send me fabric swatches of other colors. That was THREE months ago and a few follow up emails on my part with procrastination on his part. Finally, I decided to take my business elsewhere to someone who actually had interest in making me a wedding dress. One last thing, public transit/commuter folk, Michael of BOSTON is actually located quite far away in PEMBROKE.
