I happened to meet Jerry on eBay as I was buying items related to Pendleton Indiana, mainly old yearbooks from my mother’s high school, also the school of most of my maternal relatives, so that many of the books had relatives’ pictures in them. I finally got to town from San Diego in Oct/Nov of 2007 and went in to meet him and his wife Dixie in person. They were both such nice people! My mother had since passed away so I had lost interest in buying so many books but they still treated me like an old friend. I loved walking around their antique store and seeing all the old furniture, dishes, figurines, dolls, postcards, books – I can’t even remember everything they had! I’m sure I was in this store as a child though I don’t remember what it was back then. I got back there in August/Sept of this year and again was received warmly. I had a wonderful stay in the Pendleton area and credit people like the Burmeister’s with making me feel«at home» in Indiana. I wish I hadn’t been travelling by plane so I could have bought more to bring home.
