Established in 1986.

Dr. Gary Sumner has been providing outstanding, gentle dental care since 1986. He is a board-​certified oral sedation dentist and a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS). He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia and continued his education by participating in several courses, including cosmetic dentistry, root canal therapy and all aspects of general dentistry. Dr. Sumner is a member of many prestigious organizations including the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Butte-​Sierra Dental Society. He has volunteered with Flying Doctor of America and the Chernobyl Children Project. Dr. Sumner and his team are dedicated to maintaining a reputation of excellence in dental care.

I almost NEVER rate anything 5⁄5 but Dr. Sumner and his staff are the best, bar none.
If you are considering a lot of work, consider sedation. Dr. Sumner will take great care of you and his staff will follow up with you the next day to make sure everything is going well and see if there are more questions.
There are so many reasons we drive over an hour every time!

I had a great experience with Dr. Sumner today. After recently moving to the area I was skeptical about using the local dentist in a small town, but gave it a try because the office is so conveniently located.
Scheduling was easy, and the two forms were emailed in advance so I could complete them before arriving. I received a reminder call the day before and showed up for my appointment, where I was promptly greeted and taken back for my cleaning in just a few minutes.
Heidi was the hygienest and she did a very thorough job. Afterwards Dr Sumner came in and performed the exam. Everything checked out, so I scheduled a follow up in six months. Basically it was the exact experience I was hoping for.
I’m not sure why the previous reviewer had such a bad time, but I left very satisfied. I got done with my appointment early, my teeth were brilliantly clean, and the staff was courteous throughout. I’d recommend this dentist to anyone in the area.
