They go quantity over quality here. I got a mushroom Swiss burger which was pretty bad(frozen patty, weird tasting mushrooms). I also found a long black curly hair in it which was pretty gross pulling from my throat. They didn’t comp the burger either when I showed them the long black hair. The staff is nice but I will not be coming here again.

I dine here frequently eventhough I live in Wilmington. A friend of mine is local & we like to wax philosophical while enjoying classic jersey diner fare. They recently remodeled a bit and changed their name to «Talk of the Town». The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly and IF I’ve had a bad meal it was probably due to my own poor choice(just because a diner has steak on the menu doesn’t mean you should order it :) Among my favorites would be the chicken pot pie and chicken parm. The coffee is decent but the hot tea is even better. I like the atmosphere, if that’s not weird to say considering it’s a diner, but they’re usually not that busy so it’s quiet and just a nice place to relax in with idle chatter.

A full page add in «Today’s Sunbeam» boasted of the new ownership of the Golden Palace Restaurant/Diner in Pennsgrove, N.J. I’ve frequented this place several times in the past under the old owners. I was excited to see what kind of changes have been made especially reading the hype in the Giant Add. As soon as I entered, the sign next to the register said«Please wait to be seated». OK. Just then two ladies walk in right past me and the waitress(one of three standing there) waved, then smiled /greeted the ladies and walked them to their seats. Now, the guy behind the register(Later I found out it was the new owner), didn’t greet me,(no good morning or even a go to hell), said«One?», He then sat me in a booth. Fine. Several seconds later, A nervous young lady warmly greeted me and asked for my drink order. Great! She then asked if I needed more time, I asked where the scrapple choices were in the club breakfast specials(Club breakfasts include Coffee and Juice choice). I pointed to my selection and she told me «you can get any meat with that». I told her OK. I’ll take the number six. Great! Service was swift and upon receiving my drinks, I was approached by the girl and told that I would be charged for a side of scrapple, which is almost half the price of the meal. I told the girl to never mind the scrapple and go with the sausage which is one of the original choices. Hm mm. OK. The food came out promptly. Eggs, nicely cooked, Toast, Potatoes seemed like the shredded box kind found in EVERYTYPICAL diner. If you know me, I’m a potato nut! Slightly crispy on the top and less than warm in the middle of the pile. I don’t think so. No seasonings, Bland. OK. Just then, one of the other waitress’s recognized me and greeted me, then reprimanded the nervous girl serving me for blowing by a table of waving customers and not offering a warm up on the coffee.(In my opinion, The counseling session could have taken place in the back). Just then, A woman Decided to have a LOUDCELLPHONECONVERSATION right there in the middle of the floor as her children went wild and decided to jump in every ones booths. The Owner, and 3 waitress’s Ignored the whole event which lasted approximately 10 minutes until her take out was ready. One of the other waitress must have been having a bad day since she was wearing an unpleasant look and adjusting her clothing in front of everyone. Upon leaving, the man behind the countered mumbled«was everything alright», UGH, Then I asked«are you the new owner?», He handed me my change and replied«Yes». No thank you, No Come back again, No Good Bye, Just took the money as if I owed it to him! Now if you follow my reviews, you know I believe dining out should be an escape from the doldrums. Whether you eat at a road side stand or a Gourmet restaurant. It shouldn’t be a «Walk on Egg Shells Experience!» What befuddles me, is the fact that with in the next two towns the competition in this business is TOUGH, yet despite advertising«Under New Ownership», there is an attitude among certain business owners«In my opinion» that we the consumer, owe them something! I’m sorry, I’ll drive the extra mile and have an enjoyable(maybe not fancy), Breakfast elsewhere. WHEW!!! Sorry, Just my opinion!
