The Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute (BCDI) is the only federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) of Excellence South of Chicago in Illinois, drawing patients from 15 states.
The BCDI mission is to provide optimal comprehensive, family oriented care for persons with bleeding, clotting & other blood disorders. As a nonprofit, multi-disciplinary evaluation, treatment, and research facility, we provide specialized health care services and education to persons with bleeding and thrombotic disorders. The BCDI medical staff recognizes that personalized health care provided by caring experienced professionals is key to achieving a high quality of life.

The Bleeding & Clotting Disorders Institute (BCDI) is a federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) of Excellence located in Peoria, Illinois.
BCDI recognizes the optimal care model for people diagnosed with bleeding and clotting disorders is a multi-disciplinary approach. Our multi-disciplinary team consists of the physician, nurse practitioner, nurse coordinators, medical social worker, outreach coordinator, research coordinator, physical therapist, dentists, and nutritionist. Combined the team has over 100 years of experience working with the bleeding and clotting disorder community.
Meet the Business Owner
Michael D. Tarantino, M.D..
Business Owner
Dr. Tarantino received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1987, after which he completed a residency in pediatrics at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center in 1990 and a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of Wisconsin in 1993. He is board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and brings over 20 years of experience caring for children and adults with bleeding and clotting disorders.
Dr. Tarantino is also a Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria and maintains a busy academic program of clinical and translational research. He is considered a national and international thought leader in the areas of hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, thrombophilia, immune thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) and other platelet disorders. Dr. Tarantino has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-review publications along with numerous reviews and book chapters.
