Specialties
Since 1980, our critically acclaimed restaurant has provided elegant, eclectic food in a congenial and casual atmosphere. High quality, fresh ingredients go into everything we make: from homemade soups and breads, to seafood, meat and vegetarian entrees, to show-stopping desserts. We are committed to the ideals of sustainability. We purchase services and ingredients from local growers, farmers and independent food purveyors whenever possible.
Since our opening days, the Harbor View has prepared and served excellent fresh fish and seafood. First and foremost, we are known for Alaskan Halibut — lightly dusted and sautéed, with black butter caper sauce, served with jasmine rice and fresh salsa. Also, on our menu, are a variety of pork, lamb, chicken, beef and vegetarian dinners including Roast Pork Loin — w/a seasonal fruit sauce, braised red cabbage and new potatoes or the Sautéed Chicken Breasts — w/roasted garlic and chipotle sauce served with linguine or Stuffed Mushrooms!
History
Established in 1980.
For over 30 years, Harbor View Café’s motto has been «The Best from Scratch». We cook with the highest quality and freshest ingredients available.
April 1, 1980, Paul and Carol Hinderlie created the Harbor View Café, transforming Bill and Ruth’s local tavern into what is known today as a «gem» of the Mississippi River Valley. In 1983, longtime friend, Tom Ahlstrom joined the Harbor View partnership, adding his imprint of hospitality to the restaurant. 25 years later veteran staff members Chuck Morrow and Ruth Stoyke purchased the café from Paul, Carol, and Tom. The Harbor View staff continues to serve «confident food with character «in a congenial and casual atmosphere.
