Lake Perris State Recreation Area

Horrible experience. My nephew was throwing up and lot 8 was full to watch the firework show. Supervisor Kirstie did not want to issue me a refund! I was in the park for 1 min. I’m a Perris resident and I’m very discouraged with the bad customer service experience.

Decided to take the Hubby to Lake Perris for Father’s day weekend. What can I say other than what a JOKE. if you love ghetto, trashy, loud, obnoxious, rude drunk people than this is the place for you. Friday night the group next to us was EXTREMELY loud, and didn’t go to sleep until 5 am. The American Flag of our neighbour was destroyed and the Park Rangers were on the hunt to find out who did it. Saturday night was just as bad. Did I mention Ghetto ya horrible. There were guys puking in the bathroom so loud we could hear it at our campsite. POOP was smeared all over the walls DISGUSTING. The lake is Dirty smelled when we walked up to it and bugs were hovering over the top Landing on the people swimming. We left and went back to the AC in the motor home. Needless to say we will not be returning.

This place is full nazi gestapo for everything. Not dog friendly, electric golf carts «have to be registered with dmv» to be permitted, failed boat inspection for hydro turf mat being wet from rinsing when pulled out of storage, when we pulled the other ski out of the launch they wire your ski to the trailer for some reason. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Over regulation and restrictions for everything took the fun right out of it. I would rather risk Hep B in lake Elsinore than give them one more night of camp fees. Never will be returning here again.

LEECHES !!! trashy water (seaweed) muddy with flies and mosquitos all over… disgusting!!! Went out there this sunday june 5, 2016 around 3pm horrible worst experience ever our 1^st time there and our last! They say you could swim in lots 1 – 4 yeah fkn right! You cant! Not healthy there was leeches all over us! I even get the goosebumps just by talking about them Total fail… maybe its nice if you have a boat or jetski but ill still be afraid to fall in that water who knows what else is in there! We were there 20 minutes we unpacked and seriously just walked out 10 minutes later! Wasted $ 10 in the entrance but now we know we totally dont recommend it! Go find a pool somewhere else… dont bring your kids here i dont know how some parents still stick them in this horrible water!

Lake is extremely low right now. But lots of hiking trails available to keep you active and also fun to just set up camp and BBQ and enjoy the beautiful view.

Don’t plan a day in the lake perris. Water is very dirty coz of droughts. U will have green algae/​seaweed/​vegetation in ur clothes. On the lake shore water is brown n not blue!!!
Instead go camping, coz that’s better than lake.

Went here today and wow what a mixed experience! The BBQ area was great we had a lovely time, but the lake Oh Lord the lake… Ewwww first off there was Leeches (I swear on everything) I came out of the water with 5 tiny suckers on my legs and so did the rest of my party. Not to mention there was so much vegetation that there was a ginormous death fish caught in it. Sadly also the water was disgusting filled with trash along with so much vegetation (lol seaweed?) that it was unsuitable to swim. Seriously and then to top it off the lifeguards were absolute jerks (which OK it was a holiday so maybe they were mad about being there working). We have been going here with our family for years, but this might be the last. Leeches, trashy water, disgusting swimming, dead fish, and douchy staff… yeah no thank you I will celebrate my holidays elsewhere.

Today I needed to get away. I usually fish and camp here but decided to just spend a day under the sun. I just read all the reviews about Rangers hassling people. I myself never had a bad experience with any of the workers.
Today, I went to support the park even though fishing is bad and construction is going on. I went to the restrooms with my trained dogs like I have been doing for 20 years! I made small talk with a couple of Rangers and as I am walking back to the beach area. and a team of unqualified Ranger got stuck in the sand. I told them «just my luck, I had a question»! This chunky white guy said «I can’t be here with dogs»
I told him «wow, I have been coming here with them for 20 years» He then said «well.you are lucky. I’m not a ranger but if they see you»
I always clean up after my dogs, never leave trash and they are trained.
I nodded my head and walked away.
I don’t understand why they have all of a sudden become aggressive, they should be happy we good people are utilizing and supporting the park seeing it’s going through so many changes.
First time having a bad experience. As I finish I hear boat Rangers pulling someone over.
I don’t need the trouble…
Oh, but I didn’t make it back to my car without a ranger telling me to head out because dogs are not allowed. He didn’t even have the courtesy to say they are allowed «in these designated areas».nope, just leave!
He said save your story… what?!
I left and never plan to come back.
I also usually like to stop at pollys pies or local mom and pop shops, just to support them. I didn’t even feel like spending a dime in the area… Avoir!

This place is beautiful. Summer can get crazy but there are not a lot of lakes you tube, wakeboard, fish, swim, and recreate on. Go midweek and you will be rewarded with the best wakesurfing and boating around. Winds can come up around 2 PM so get there early and enjoy the lake.

Well, I was a fan when I actually lived 20 minutes away, but I’m still planning on camping out there with friends and family this year. Yeah, it’s dry and deserty, and sometimes really hot, but, uh. .. it’s in the DESERT? And if you look at their website, about halfway down it says,

Everything…Everytime!»
It’s not racism — it’s State mandated rules, aka LAWS! Get over yourselves, follow the rules (INCLUDING the noise curfew, for God’s sake), and just enjoy the lake. And pick up your trash before you leave. All of it. Please.

«Rangers» are unbelievable!
I rescued two hypothermic jetskiers whose craft had sunk. Took me 20 minutes to get them onto my vessel. Took them to Ranger dock and told him about the skuttled vessel. His only remark was «the sun is about to set and if you are not off the lake by then I will give you a ticket»
My son got a ticket for parking on a bike lane. Looked like a road and the sign was covered with graffiti. $ 290.

Small state park with some great views. They charge $ 10 per car for entry which isn’t too bad for a 2 hour getaway. My husband and I came on a Saturday and it was pretty empty. We walked around the lake which was small but large enough for people to go boating and fishing in. There was also a grassy park area which was filled with wild squirrels. My husband and I spent 2 hours exploring… not much to do but a nice place to walk around, relax, picnic, and just enjoy nature.
One tip: bring water! They have a water fountain but it had brown water coming out of it… gross!

1 star is being generous. We had come here several times last summer and once this may but each time we come it continues to go down in cleanliness, order, and the staff is horrible and rude!
We paid (4 families of R.V.‘s) and we pay to store our boat and wave runners on site during the summer. We have contributed a good deal of revenue to this lake but don’t think that will be the case next year.
The lake is filthy. People continue to leave their trash, diapers and left overs behind. There are leeches in the water!!! Need I say more? Yet another place trashy people have ruined.

Only came here because I wanted to drive around and waste some time. this place seemed nice though. fairly big and they were doing construction when I came so I couldn’t drive around the whole place.
admission is $ 10 and that’s for the whole day. you’re able to leave the place and come back so thats good.
I wouldn’t mind coming back here another day and do outdoor lake activities and BBQ.

WORST POSSIBLE LAKE EVER. IT IS BEYOND DISGUSTING. IT’S LIKE NO ONE GOES AROUND TO EVEN PICK UP THE TRASH! THE PATROL, SECURITY, LIFEGUARDS ARE HORRIBLE!!!
The security and the lifeguards made our experience very unpleasant just from being there for one day. They are constantly on your ass if you swim to far within the beach. The patrol out in the water will constantly stop you if your not going «counter clockwise». Oh and if your just waiting to put your seadoo in the trailer they will pull you over for just waiting. This place is a joke. The patrol even outside the water, will constantly roam around and even if you are just going 5 mph they will give you a ticket. I hope this place shuts down. I suggest you think twice before coming here, unless you want these guys to be on your ass about everything.

BEWARE of racist old white man. We have been going to lake perris for years now and understand the rules. This man would not let us in because there was a little bit of water near the engine (I’m talking about you can barely see anything.) we have never had the engine compartment checked. Our boat just got serviced and has not been out in any body of water this year.
This man was power tripping and even checked his data base and said we have not been at any other lakes this year. Still wouldn’t let us in.
There was a boat after us and the old white man checked their boat and he pointed at his engine but he let them pass.
We drove from LA to wakeboard and ski.
so BEWARE make sure you check your whole boat and there is no water in any part of the boat.

Just spent the weekend camping at Lake Perris and me and hubby thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Unilocal had me anticipating a bad experience and I almost missed good old fashioned fun and quality time with hubby!
Check in was easy and not at all like the reviews had said. I had anticipated a long time but we checked in early and quickly. Employees were pleasant enough. Took about 15min max and that’s only because the person in front of us asked a ton of questions.
Got a spot in the RV section even though we were tent camping. Had a decent view of the lake, kinda instructed by the trees and park. Literally across the street and through the park and you could be on the beach.
Camp site had outlet, picnic table, water spigot, fire pit and nice shade. Bathrooms were pretty clean but by the end of the weekend toilet paper on ground in a few stalls. Wasnt unbearable though. Saw a bug the second night but they weren’t out in droves like Unilocal made it seem.
The sites on this side were pretty close and we had a big group on one side of us. Couple of times the kids were playing football and kept coming into our area because there’s no separation. But it’s kids, what are you gonna do? Annoying but nothing major. We drove around to a few of the other loops and those aren’t as close to reach other, much more space. But those didn’t offer a lot of shade. Make sure to bring a canopy!
Went boating on Saturday. Small boat was $ 30 with a $ 80 deposit. Lake was low but that’s the drought, not like it’s the parks fault there is no water. Hubby pulled the boat up to a quiet area, let down the anchor and went swimming. Didn’t encounter any dead fish or bones or leeches like some people mentioned.
Lots of sites nearby if you don’t want to go to the convenience store on the campground.
Park area is still grassy and offers wonderful shade and playgrounds for the kiddies.
Will definitely go back!

We usually take our boat out to Pyramid or Silverwood Lake, but today we decided to take a chance here. It took us a while to get here, coming from the San Gabriel Valley.
Then we we get here, they won’t let us use the boat because of «moisture» inside the boat. I see about 15 jet skis on the water, and no boats. It’s sad because we only get the opportunity to use the boat a few times a year and we were really looking forward to today’s experience. :(
We might as well have gone to Santa Fe Dam, since other than the ability to use watercraft, the parks are very similar. The beach has a long stretch of HOT sand, so make sure you bring sandals. There is no shade on the beach, so bring an umbrella or canopy.
There’s a big grass area, which is good for the dogs since they don’t allow dogs on the beach.
We probably will not be coming back. I don’t recommend.

I want to start this post by saying I was extremely impressed. The cleanliness of the site, bathrooms, and showers was shocking. I stayed at this same site a few year back and it was a mess. It was needless to say I was hesitant on coming back when invited. They’ve really cleaned up the place. Our spot was perfect too. I’m not going to say what spot it was because I don’t want everyone booking it now. Lol we were far from everyone else, secluded to our own group, there was a nice little area behind us where we played volleyball, badminton, and football. Bathrooms were very close by but not so close that we had to worry about people walking through our site or smells. People were very respectful of each others site and when a kid came up missing we all jumped in to search for the child. Not just my group the whole site. It was pretty awesome and the child was found quickly.
The only reason I didn’t give this site the full 5 stars is the lake its self. There were quite a few dead fish floating around, they had an algae outbreak S the water was kind of nasty, and the boats they rent out are very messed up! We paid $ 100 to rent a boat for 3 hours. We only got to use it for 2 &/​½ hours do to time restraints but they didn’t discount us. The boat itself was pretty beat up. I’m a big guy and there was no ladder to get back into the boat, so it was definitely a struggle.
All and all my group and I had a blast and I’d suggest this camp site to anyone reading.

Pros:
We arrived at check in at 9:55 on July 10^th, very close to the closing time but we still got in. We had purchased a single day but wanted to extend it to 2 days. Unfortunately the site we wanted was already reserved the next day but they let us get another site for 2 days. The person at check-​in gave us a recommendation for a site and said if we didn’t like it we could pick a few empties and come back. His recommendation was spot on because the location was great. Lake was nice, a staff member took a picture for us. The facilities were nice as well. There were other activities we didn’t even have time to do. First night we had no bug problem but second night there were an overwhelming amount of bugs (not the camp’s problem, this IS outside), just to let the future campers know. This review would be 5* if not for two small cons.
Cons:
First the campsite was just a little bit trashed. It looks like whoever was before us had a massive party. There were easily 15 minimum bottle caps strewn about the ground. I didn’t expect it to be immaculate (it is camping) but it was just a little bit of a problem. Second there were multiple parties near us who were playing music and yelling extremely loud. Not normally a problem but it occurred after 22:00 when it’s supposed to be quiet. I could’ve sworn I saw the staff drive by at least one time. I wasn’t listening too hard but could hear some cursing at least.
Other than those two cons everything went fine. A ⁴⁄₅ experience and we will come back one day (with bikes!).
