Cotty’s Place HAS to get 5 stars… not because it’s the ONLY restaurant in town, but because is the town that gets a 5 star. Yes, I went to Peru, NE… here is the story… I was born in Lima, Peru(South America) and a documentary was filmed in Peru, Nebraska last year in order to promote Peru as a brand where all sales will go back to the country, not individuals. Here is the link from YouTube video filmed To make the story short, I traveled to Kansas City, Mo to meet LG and we drove under 2hrs to Peru, Nebraska. You should had seen me taking pictures, super excited seeing signs to Peru, NE like a little kid… Our first stop once entering Peru, NE was Cotty’s Place. YES! I was hungryyyy… and as a pescetarian I was a bit afraid to only find steak… but not at Cotty’s Place, they featured a few seafood specials. The restaurant was still serving when we rolled in after 4pm… and very surprised to find a corner dedicated to the Peruvian documentary.(Picture) It had several pictures, signed t-shirts, Peruvian Beer, Pisco… and mementos of a good time! I was super thrilled to be there. I have watched all videos on You Tube and going to Peru, NE was such a wonderful treat. The best is that the owner of Cotty’s(who I called him by name when he came to introduce himself… I knew from the videos) Allen, was absolutely delightful! He sat with us and told us all about the film. Good Peruvians as we are, I made some homemade Peruvian hot sauce and brought Pisco. Let’s just say Allen enjoyed the Peruvian hot peppers and sampled Pisco. Between the sampling, meeting Allen and getting to know him, we quickly noticed it was near 8PM! Allen also shared my new addiction… Rumchata…super yummyyy is like cinnamon roll with rum. Almost forgot about the food! I went for the Shrimp Scampi with a baked potato. It came with a side of sour cream. Cotty’s had crab legs as a special!!! LG ordered the steak(picturesss)… We spent soooo much time there and unfortunately I did not try the crab legs… They were closed on Sunday. LG wants to go back for their Wing’s night and make the board… there is a weekly competition and even though I don’t eat chicken, I am still a good sport! Allen and Cotty’s Place is absolutely memorable. Hope to come back next month and I have my eye out on those crab legs!
