Aces over Eights

I had to write a review! I got my Tragus pierced 3 times and every time it got infected and I had to remove it. But I finally went to Joe and I’ve had my piercing for a month now, no pain, no infection. Not to mention he’s very good at what he does, clean thorough, and knowledgeable in his craft. Anyone looking for a clean and professional he’s your guy.

Went in to see Joe today — he was recommended — for a daith piercing. First — Aces Over Eights is clean, bright and so comfortable to be in. Bathrooms (ladies) were clean and well stocked. The girl who greeted us was friendly and inviting. And on to Joe — he was extremely calm and educational about the process. He showed us many different options for hardware and explained the benefits of each one. He made me feel so at ease with the whole process. He was quick, clean and very nice about everything. I would HIGHLY recommend both Joe and Aces Over Eights.

Joe’s the man. Started following his work on Instagram when I was searching for a place to stretch my lobes. The guy has made piercing into the art form it should be and always should have been. Really happy with my plugs.

Love this place! I recently had a piercing done by Joe. He is very professional and has excellent hygiene practices. Very happy! I have one more piercing to do and I won’t hesitate to come back here. Excellent shop!

A simple way to explain my experience is, amazing. I had two dermals removed from my forearm and walked away happy. Before starting Joe went into detail regarding what he was going to do. During the removal process he continued to explain in detail each step he was taking and why he was doing it that way. I had a ton of questions during the process and he answered every single one. One of my favorite things about going to Joe was how clean everything was. His work space was clean, his equipment was clean, he wore sterile gloves, and changed is gloves multiple times ensure his and my safety.
After this experience I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Have gone to Cody for the last few years, phenomenal work, brilliant detail, not heavy handed, sturdy lines, he’s all around phenomenal. I’ve watched Jake and Jimmy also do some of the most intricate pieces, this is hands down my favorite shop. My pieces have held up so well, it’s insane!

Aces over eights is the best tattoo shop in Petaluma hands down! Both Cody and Jimmy are great and I love the tattoos I’ve gotten from them. The space is very clean, everyone is professional and the artwork is always the best! Highly recommend for many reasons– the location is great too in the heart of downtown Petaluma

Joe is the best person to go to get a piercing! He is quick, precise, and uses implant grade titanium. I have gotten my nose and, recently, my collarbone dermals done by him. (They’re bruised in the pic but that’s normal) he was very patient and even insisted on getting the placement just right. Best piercer around! :)

We brought in our seven year old to get her ears pierced and Joe was awesome! He was quick an nearly painless. There was no blood and unlike other places like the kiosk in the mall, he recommended not cleaning the piercing with alcohol because it only reopens the wound and delays the healing process. Sure enough they healed perfectly.

My first Unilocal review, because this place is amazing! Last year a friend of mine had a large mural done on his back, and since I finally had the cash to get my half sleeve done, I asked him where his back was done. I walked in and talked with Jimmy Bruce and gave him a printout of the art I wanted to base the half sleeve on. We did four sessions, each time looking better and better with everything falling into place. The detail is incredible! I get compliments every day on it. It’s not a sea of color on my arm like many sleeves fall prey do. It’s a piece of artwork that stands out.
I live in LA now, and I will still be coming up to Petaluma to get my ink done here.

Jimmy has done 2 pieces for me and they’re great! He’s very popular and books up way in advance so make sure to call a few weeks ahead. I’ve heard great things about all the other artists too, just haven’t had a chance to get inked by any yet. The shop is always clean and has awesome vibes from the furniture to the signage to every little decoration. Definitely a little Petaluma gem.

Cody covered over an old small tattoo with a beautiful portrait of my dog. He did an excellent job — I’m very happy with it.

I will forever love this shop. I’ve been going to Cody for my tattoos for the last 5 years. He’s done an entire back piece, both my feet, behind my ear, my wrist, ankle, and were working on a sleeve right now. My tattoos are always gorgeous and I’m constantly complimented on them every day. Cody is something of an artistic role model for me and I’m constantly amazed by his work. He’s also tattooed several friends of mine whom also have gorgeous tattoos.

I HIGHLY recommend Aces over Eights! I’ve gotten a couple tattoos here from Jimmy, and both of them have turned out amazing! After moving here I’d been looking for a good tattoo place, and I actually heard about them because I saw a random girl with a cool tattoo, and asked her where she got it. After that, I looked up reviews, and different places online to see if it was a good place to go. I saw they’d gotten Reader’s Choice, Best in Sonoma County in The Press Democrat, and all their other reviews seemed good as well. Also, all the pictures of their work looked great! So I stopped by the shop to talk to them and find out more.
First off, the shop is awesome. Clean, well-​lit, cool style and vibe, comfortable, etc. It’s right in down-​town Petaluma, so parking can be tricky, but it’s in a cool area of town. I’m not artistic at all, so I went in with just an idea and some printed off pictures. Jimmy came to the front and took time right then to brainstorm with me and to hear all of my thoughts on what I wanted. I’m pretty picky, and I took in a ton of pictures and rambled on about all these different things and styles I wanted, so I didn’t expect anyone to be able to draw up something that I wanted on the first try. But I went back a week or so later, and WOW, what he had drawn up was exactly my style and what I wanted! I could not think of one thing I wanted to change about it. I was beyond impressed. So I made an appointment and went back in a week or two later to get it done!
And then I went back to get another older tattoo touched up. And I will keep going back! Jimmy is GREAT at matching my style, even though it’s not really your «typical» tattoo style. I have gotten so many comments and compliments on my tattoos he’s done. (I’ll post pictures). I’ve already had a few people ask me for info, because they want him to tattoo them as well. He’s really fast, artistic, and easy to talk to. Aces over Eights is the best! It would be cool if they did piercing there too, but oh well!

I got my first tattoo at this shop right when I turned 18 several years ago. I’ve been a fan ever since. I love the atmosphere of the shop, it has this sort of rustic vibe — Very unique compared to most tattoo shops that are brightly painted, with millions of tattoo flash paintings plastered all over the walls. (not that there’s anything wrong with that, but the unique interior inside Aces is rather refreshing and pleasant.)
My favorite tattoo that I have gotten from Aces was done by Jake Yarnal. He tattooed a beautiful zebra on my foot that I am absolutely in love with, even to this day. I have received dozens of compliments on this tattoo from friends, my doctors, co-​workers, even strangers (which probably sounds weird, considering the tattoo is on my foot and not at eye-​level… but then again, the majority of my footwear are variations of sandals and flats, even in the winter time, and point-​blank the artwork totally rules) and of course, I refer them to Jake. I remember how excited I was walking into the shop the day I was getting the tattoo, and that same happiness still exits inside of me every time I look at my zebra, when i get a compliment on it, etc.
Jake has also started a huge back piece on my brother. So far he’s done two portraits of our grandparents. The obvious amount of detail and work Jake put into these portraits is insane. It’s almost as though I’m looking at the actual faces of my grandparents, because they are that realistic. If I ever decide to get a portrait, I already know exactly who I’m going to!
I will be going back to Jake and this shop for more beautiful artwork to put on my body. Thank you for the amazing work you’ve done for my brother and I!

I can’t say enough positive things about Aces over Eight and the tattoo artist, Jake. Not only have I been tatted by Jake but my husband, brother-​in-​law and a whole laundry list of people I know are loyal Jake clients. Just yesterday, I added my mom to that list. It was her first tattoo and she was pretty afraid but Jake made her feel very comfortable, helped design and master her ideas into a beautiful tattoo.
For those of you first timers or veterans to the tattoo game, Jake is amazing. He has beautiful script and is a very talented free-​hand artist. Call before you go in — he is ALWAYS booked out!

I’ve come in here several times and seen Jimmy and the other artists work. These are some seriously talented artists. On top of that, It’s obvious that sterilization is priority and the atmosphere he makes you feel very welcome.
