Steve has been a certified home inspector since 2002 and a Building Science Thermographer since 2006. History

Established in 2002.

Envirovue was founded in 2002 by Steve Ramos. After several years of hard work Steve began expanding the business beyond the traditional home inspection and began offering mold inspections and subsequently infrared moisture inspection services. From 2006 to 2009 Steve was HGTVs House Detective. House Detective was a featured series on HGTV and not only included an inspection element but repair segments as well. In 2013, Steve earned certification as an Asbestos Building Inspector, Asbestos Management Planner, and a California Lead Sampling Technician.

I haven’t used Steve’s services, but did just speak with him regarding possible asbestos contamination that could have resulted from ducting replacement at a rental property I own. Although the type of inspection and potential remediation work I could need is out of the scope of services Steve typically provides, he offered to help me find a resource and contacted another firm specializing in the services I needed. Steve called me back with the contact information for the other firm literally within 10 minutes of our initial conversation.
He could have easily told me the work was out of scope for him and left it at that, but I appreciate the fact that he didn’t.

If you need a mold and mildew inspection, Envirovue is your company. My asthma was acting up; a contractor friend referred me to Steve Ramos at Envirovue.
Called Steve and explained my problem. We were able to set an appointment for the following day. Steve arrived on time with his equipment. Did an air sampling of four areas where potentially mold and mildew could grow. Checked each room with a moisture meter, infrared viewer and took pictures.
Two days later I got a recap via email of his inspection findings, recap from the lab that evaluated the air samples and a copy of the pictures he took in each of the suspect areas.
Steve and the lab found our home was problem-​free. Good news!
I can highly recommend Steve, Envirovue, and the service they performed.

We hired Steven to do a general inspection before purchasing our current primary home. He showed up on time and started inspecting a house from outside, then inside. After one hour, he came back to us and pointed out a couple of stained leaks we didn’t notice at all although we looked at the area several times before. He suggested us to do a infrared moisture reading (at additional cost). We were glad we did because he found more moisture issues in several locations. At the end of inspection, he explained us all his major concerns in a plain and simple English. One day later, we’ve received a through inspection report with many photos. The report is well documented and it’s very easy to understand and identify what are major issues and what actions we should take… We’re currently following up his concerns one by one after purchasing this house. Impressive work!

I feel responsible to write an update since I select all my vendors through Unilocal now, and I want to make other readers aware of what Mr. Steve Ramos’ «resolution» entails. He sent me a liability release not to sue him and a demand to remove my Unilocal posting because it will affect his business negatively in return of the $ 379 I paid him for the inspection. I, of course, did not sign it because I stand behind my word backed up by facts. NAHI advised me to file a complaint with the Attorney General, which I probably will. Home inspection business should be regulated, and require a licence so people like Mr. Steve Ramos are more diligent in their work knowing that there are consequences for their gross negligence.

I first meet Steven Ramos, the owner of Envirovue Home Inspection, about eight years ago when I recommended that a client hire him to inspect a 22-​unit apartment building in Santa Rosa. Since that time I have hired him on behalf of clients in Carmichael, Castro Valley, Concord, Fremont, Hayward, Los Banos, San Francisco, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, and San Ramon. He has inspected apartment buildings, condos, and single family homes priced from $ 104,000 to $ 5,500,000 for my clients. His work is thorough and his reports are well documented, clear and supported by photos. He has special equipment that most other home inspectors do not have including an expensive and useful FLUR camera which can detect defects or damage within walls without opening up the wall. I highly recommend that you get an inspection of any property which you purchase and that you hire Steven Ramos to perform that inspection.

Steve did a home inspection for $ 375 and is very trustworthy. He is thorough and takes photos of everything. It was easy to read and understanding, especially with the photo documentation. He was patient in explaining everything to us; I only wish I had more time to spend with him so I could have the opportunity to learn more from him.

Great home inspection company! We had owned our house for ten years and were wondering about the shape of our roof and were having some moisture problems in one of our closets. We had called three roofers who of course suggested completely replacing our roof! Steve showed us what small repairs we would need and advised us we could see several more years of good service from our roof. We saw Steve Ramos on the HGTV House Detective (8:00 am on Saturdays) and liked his approach. He came to our house on time, did a full inspection of our house including using a infared device that could see through our walls to detect moisture. We especially liked Steve because he would talk to us while doing the inspection and gave us additional information than just the basics. He did not make us feeled rushed and answered our many questions. He does inspections in San Francisco and the Northbay. The website is very complete and also has samples of the reports he delivers.
