Pet Food Express

I just want to take a minute to praise Pet Food Express in Petaluma.
I have never experienced better customer service. They are amazing!
I should’ve written this long ago, when i had my first wonderfult experience with them, but after tonight as well, i HAVE to make sure everyone knows how awesome they are.
My husband and I live in Petaluma and commute quite far for work (him to the city and me to MIll Valley). We got home at 7:50 tonight and realized that we were out of dog food. At 7:55, 5 minutes before closing, I called to see if there was any way that they would consider staying open an extra few minutes so that we could pick up some food. The gentleman working, said it was no problem at all and was able to accomodate us. I wish i knew his name, as i cannot thank him enough for helping us out tonight. THANK YOU SIR!
I also want to say thank you to you all for a few months ago when your credit card system went down, and you GAVE US A BAG OF FOOD for our pups that needed it.
This place is unbelievable. These people are so customer oriented and friendly.

I love this pet store. I’ve been buying my pups dog food (dry and raw) here for about 8 months now. I love the selection of raw food available and sometimes when their fridge is out they usually have more in the back. Service here has always been so helpful to me and I’m always acknowledged when I walk in. I will continue buying food, treats, and toys for my boy from here.

I went to this store on a whim, as it happened to be on my way home and I forgot to pick up some dog food. They didn’t seem to know what I meant when I asked for wet dog food, and offered salami treats instead. I eventually found the canned dog food behind the registers, and they didn’t have the kind I usually get at a competitors store. This was rather frustrating, and I will just remember to go to my regular store. A long time ago I took advantage of the VIP service that comes in on Sundays, but it cost me the same a my regular vet… No bonus… Anyway, I don’t see much use in this place. Pet food and supplies are too expensive.

We stopped in after forgetting dry dog food at the start of our vacation. They did not have our brand of dog food, but Stacie was very helpful in recommending something that is close to what we use. Plus she threw in a can of pumpkin to prevent digestive problems during our trip. Clean store, exceptional customer service, lots of products to choose from.

I absolutely love Pet Food Express. I wish they had one up where I live in Santa Rosa. But I do go out of my way, a 30 min drive to Petaluma just to go to this super awesome pet store.
I feed my dogs, The Honest Kitchen. I drive all the way down to Petaluma to get the buy 3, get 1 free deal. In fact, I believe all of the food and treats are buy 3 get 1 free.
Pet Food Express provides top quality products. And they carries great products you will not find in Petsmart or Petco.
Pet Food Express also puts on the annual Bay Area Pet Fair that happens in Marin. Last year they adopted out over 700 pets from the 2 day event.
Pet Food Express also has very nice tiled doggie wash. If you are near Pet Food Express, I definitely recommend checking them out!!!

So impressed! I came by Pet Food Express for dog food tonight. They were experiencing a power outage and couldn’t ring up purchases. Instead of turning me away they gave me a small bag of our dog’s speciality food (not inexpensive!) to hold us over. Talk about great customer service! Thanks guys, see you soon!

I love this store! I feel as if every product they have in the store is something I don’t need to worry about when it comes to my pets. There are no funky pet foods here and you don’t have to worry about your dog getting some weird reaction to some horrible shampoo full of toxic chemicals. The employees are always super friendly but don’t hover around you when you’re clearly trying to decide between their vast selection of all equally amazing products. Way to go, PFE! Oh, I also should mention that they’re extra awesome because all the stores team up with shelters to help with funding! You can donate a certain amount to a shelter of your choice and they’ll create a giant poster of your animal and post it at one of the stores. I think their website has more information on how to do that and if I remember, the donation amount I thought was TOTALLY worth the wonderful feeling of giving and the glory of the poster. Plus, I think you have the option of keeping it when the time is over in the stores. So cool. Great company. Give it a chance. You’ll never go to those other PETstores again.

I love that they openly accept returns if you or your pet are not pleased with the product — they donate what they receive back to local shelters! I do most of my pet shopping online, but if I need something quickly this is where I go. Very helpful and enjoyable staff! A little pricy, but no more than any other pet store. Love that they often host adoption fairs as well.

Stacie was awesome. Full of information regarding our picky Paco. She totally set us up with the right healthy treats for our feisty four legged friend. He is chewing quietly. So happy. We will be back.

I’ve been meaning to leave this review for nearly a week! I popped in during a blackout last week and was looking for some treats (or a food item) that would make it easier for me to pill one of my cats. Stacie was very helpful (even in the dark!) and pointed me toward Stella & Chewey — a line of dehydrated cat food made from the purest and tastiest proteins. Stacie was incredibly kind in letting me try the food to see if my cat would even take to it. She told me that if it didn’t work out, I could donate it to the rescue group I volunteer with. Top of the line service, excellent attitude and great experience all around. Thank you, Pet Food Express!

Very clean and tidy, nice friendly staff but this is pretty much a store for cats or dogs only. Not much in the way of anything for reptiles, birds, small pets like hamsters or rodents. They do have frozen feeder mice in a back room but a little blue box with 3 pinkie mice came to $ 16.08! Wtf? I had to pass on that one should cost $ 3.50-$ 5.00 tops

Yesterday I went in the store to buy some portable kennel fencing and the ladies that were working where so helpful. I will return. They have my business from now on. Thanks ladies

I just want to say how spotless and well organized this place is! AND, the service is fast, friendly and helpful! I bought 3 bags of special dog food and got the 4^th bag free! That’s a 25% savings!

When I moved to CA from Texas, I was happy to find PFE. I lived in Oakland and used one of the Oakland locations. I have since moved to Santa Rosa and dont think twice about traveling south to this location.
The staff is Grade A+++!
Every time I have set food in a PFE, I am treated with the most amazing and caring customer service. Yesterday, my partner and I brought our German Shepherd in and gave him a bath. We then were deciding on a new dog bed but were torn by the size and price. The store manager generously gave us 20% off of the bed! She even gave us a dog teeth cleansing treat.
These are the small gestures that keep me coming back and spreading the word about PFE. I will always be a customer of this amazing location!

I just spoke with Lindsey about a product they carry and aspects of its treatment possibilities for our dog. She was not only polite, cheerful and informative about that particular product, but also suggested other supportive possibilities for addressing our pet’s condition. Every time I call or go in there, I have gotten the same level of caring concern and prompt attention from all of their employees, which makes it a pleasure to shop there and get the results I’m looking for.

I love the Holistic options. There is also a self service dog wash. Products are above and beyond better than Petsmart and Petco. We travel 35 mins to get to Pet Food Express to buy «The Honest Kitchen». They have a buy 3, get 1 free deal. I bought, Natural balance training treats that were buy 3, get 1 free. Elk Antlers that were buy 3, get 1 free. Great deals in this store. Not to mention that the staff is very knowledgeable, outgoing & friendly. Store associates spent a lot of time with me discussing products and showing me around.

Ok. Ive been shopping at this store for years. I have ALWAYS been so pleased with their service. The staff is so knowledegble and friendly. They have always gone above and beyond to give good service. Thats why I am willing to pay a little extra for food and toys. The last few times Ive visited, Ive been horrified by one woman who is rude, short, and bossy. She seems to be some sort of manager that truly hates her job. We bought some dog food, along with other very expensive items (we spend a lot of money here!), and needed to return it because the food didn’t agree with our dog. My husband has moved out of state and he has the receipt. I needed to get our money back. This woman was the one who sold the stuff to me 3 days ago, she knows we paid in cash, but refused to return the items for me. That was the last straw. Enjoy your miserable life lady, I won’t shop at your store ever again.
2 stars because everyone but this awful woman is awesome.

The customer service I have received from this store, on multiple occasions, is awesome!!! We brought a new rescue pup home a few weeks ago and didn’t know where to start. The employees (ALL of them), are friendly, extremely knowledgable and very patient with all the questions I’ve bombarded them with. They are truly a gift to have near my home!

Each time I go here, I feel better and better about this store. The last time, the guys were so laidback, they said «hi» and left me alone. *Ah, I could think clearly and breathe deeply.* The pleasant cashier was even playing «The Postal Service» faintly in the background, and kindly told me about a Pet Fair at the Marin Civic Center.
My first few times here, I dreaded it. TMI all over the place. «Hi, how are you? What brings you into the store today? Do you know about this and that? Well this is good because of blah, blah blah. These types of things are bad because of blah, blah, blah. This product is better than blah, blah, blah.» In the end, all I heard was «blah» and my heart beat, pulsating through my veins. I then resorted to buying cat food online after that, as the San Rafael Store left me with similar feelings, around that same time period.
But jump forward 3 years, and this store is A-​ok. I believe that it’s fine to acknowledge customers, but read their body language. As an employee, make yourself friendly and approachable without getting into people’s space and heads. I will not buy from people who are pushy, loud, over-​informative, or intense.

I only shop at Pet Food Express for food and supplies (kibble/​wet food/​leashes/​flea meds/​grooming stuff/​some treats and toys) for my dogs and cats. Because the staff is friendly and always there to point you in the right directions (both with choices and simply to show you were things are located in the store– unlike at Petco and Petsmart where I’ve had to spend a lot of time searching for a product or an employee to help me find it).
Having many pets, their buy three get the fourth free deal on almost everything is very helpful. And while their prices tend to be higher (when not buying in multiples of 4) they will beat the prices of other retail stores on many– if not all– of their products if you find the same thing cheaper elsewhere.
The store is very clean and the pet washing stations are so helpful
