They have great ice cream! We haven’t had their chocolates as every time we go we can’t pass up the ice cream!

Mostly friendly service(depending on who is serving), good portions of ice cream. A good, standard ice cream place with chocolates too, though I prefer a different kind of chocolate. Ambiance could be better — the candy set-up and other retail items don’t have great flow, the seating feels a little cold, not cozy, but they do offer a good variety of things and I know they work hard!

Deeelish! This ice cream was incredible; very rich and creamy. Try the maple walnut! Reasonable prices and the portion sizes were huge; I got the kid’s size and it was enormous.

This is, without contest, the YUMMIEST ice cream ever! Creamy, smooth and just the right sweet. Nothing beats it.

Very disappointed. We stopped last Sunday 3⁄22 for hot chocolate. We we served 2 cold chocolates. The two young girls said that the crock pots that were heating were apparently broken. They went behind a counter while giggling the whole time. Ten minutes later we received our drinks again with what appeared to be floating solids. My guess is they tried to heat on a stove top and burnt milk/chocolate had formed. We left our drinks. Two girls in need of training and consideration for customers.

I’m devouring these chocolates. They are carefully crafted and really thoughtful. Right now my favorites are the dark chocolate Oreo mint(incredible), the cashew cluster and the pecan turtle. Susan, the proprietor was a doll– very sweet just like her business and very down to earth. She gave us a sample of the chocolate acorn: dark chocolate tops, milk chocolate shells and perfect caramel inside. This is perfect break up chocolate. Seriously. Don’t half-ass it with the drug store boxes. Get a ¼ of a lb box and do your damage. I hear their ice cream is out of this world but it was 20 degrees when I went, so I steered clear. Next time I’m in town, I’m going to try their hot chocolate. If it’s anything like their candies and truffles I’m in for a treat.

The best fudge EVER. Period, no exclamation point! Very cute shop, with ice cream, sandwiches. We only indulged I fudge and truffles, also wonderful. This shop is a must.

The best! This is my go-to chocolate shop because of it’s quality and variety. I like to get Easter Bunny chocolates here every year. They provide different sizes in white, milk, or dark. Hollow or solid. I’ve also had their ice cream which they sell all year. And their ice cream is very good. The service staff is always friendly and knowledge able.

In the interest of full disclosure, I haven’t actually tried the chocolate, so this review is based in part on hearsay from witnesses on the scene who have. My review is based on the coffee, which let’s face it, is a very important item in a chocolate shop/café. In the morning I get hot coffee, and it’s terrific. Full bodied, fully loaded with glorious caffeine – just what you need. The afternoons have been getting hot in the Peterborough summer, so I go for the iced coffee. These guys are pros: not only is this properly brewed(not just hot coffee poured over ice, which is just schlocky), but the ice itself is made out of coffee, so as it dissolves the coffee is not diluted. That’s pro, folks, and worth the trip just for that. I imagine and hear the chocolates, ice cream, and smoothies are as good as the coffee and service. Fortunately, I have the willpower of 300 Spartans.

Ava Marie is my favorite place to get ice cream. I look forward to it every summer, and everyone I bring there absolutely loves it. Their Ice Cream, Richardsons Ice Cream, comes from a 300 year old family run dairy farm in Massachusetts, and is made with hormone free milk from their own cows. I cannot stress enough how good this ice cream is. It’s always fresh and creamy, and the quality of the ingredients is very evident. The brownie pieces are always light fluffy, and cookie chunks are always crunchy, never hard and frozen. There are always numerous great flavors available up on the chalk board, but you will probably find yourself going back for your personal favorite time and time again. My favorite is Phantomberry(Black raspberry ice cream with a cookie crunch swirl and fudge brownie pieces) but I recently tried Totally Turtle(Vanilla ice cream with cashews, pieces of fudge and a caramel twirl) and it was really good. I doubt you could find a flavor that is not extremely delicious. The service at Ava Marie has been great every time I have been there. There is usually friendly and helpful young ladies behind the counter, more than happy to describe a Ice cream flavor to you, or tell you their personal favorite. The prices and portions are also very reasonable considering the quality of the Ice cream. I cannot recommend Ava Marie enough. Go try the Ice cream and you will see what I mean.

I recently moved to New Hampshire and have dealt with a lot of places with poor customer service. My girlfriend and I randomly ended up at this candy shop and it is the best store I’ve stopped at so far in the state. The people were incredibly nice, welcoming, and knowledgable about chocolate. Not to mention it literally is the best chocolates I’ve had and is well worth the price. If you are in the area, I would recommend going out of your way to have some chocolate.

I’m always in New Hampshire for one reason or another, and I always try to swing by to pick up a few chocolates or grab an ice cream cone. I really love it there. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the assortment of chocolates to choose from is vast. That, and Peterborough is one of my favorite towns in New Hampshire.

Delicious homemade ice cream. I got the Maine Moose Tracks(if I remember correctly). Raspberry Ice Cream with chocolate chips and chocolate covered raspberry truffles… yum. Chocolates looked delicious as well.

Cute little shop inside town… menu was a little confusing, as there was A LOT on it… chocolates were good… not super. They had locally bottled beverages, which I am ALWAYS a sucker for, but ours, the raspberry lemonade, was nearly PURE sugar… like can’t even think straight pure sugar. A bonus was that they were open on Sunday. I don’t know, just felt a little touristy.

Since my parents relocated soon after I moved out, part of the fun of visiting them is exploring the cute shops and towns located in this part of NH. On one of these trips, we decided to head to Peterborough to see what sort of shops this artist town had. Unfortunately(or perhaps fortunately), we did this trip a bit too late on a winter weekend, so most places were closed… except this lovely chocolate and ice cream shop. What a feast for the chocolate lover… especially post-Christmas, when all the seasonally wrapped chocolates were half-off. I’ve recently come clean with the fact that I am a dark chocolate addict, so I had to try some of the specialty chocolates. Apparently Ava Marie won the NH Magazine’s award for best caramel turtle, and let me tell you, it is that good. I also got a cinnamon chocolate, coconut cream filled, and some other fun flavors. They offer dark, milk, and white chocolate, and their dark chocolate is that rich and delicious, without being too sweet or too heavy. It’s a good thing I don’t live near here, or I’d probably overdose. The shop also has homemade ice cream, which I’d like to try on another visit, and offers coffee and tea which you can sip over in their pretty spacious seating area. I liked that they offer free samples of various chocolates, and give you lots of space to browse and stare at the yummy chocolates through the glass cases. The employees were friendly and helpful, and what the place lacks in atmosphere it gains in quality. I’m thisclose to a 5 star rating, but I’ll reserve that until I try the ice cream and finish the box of chocolates I took home with me! (PS – they ship anywhere, so check out the website and get your hands on some delicious chocolate!)
