Kiddie Academy of Pflugerville

Dedication of owners and staff is superb. I enjoy being able to watch my children during the day via webcam. The facility is fantastic. They are very attentive to the needs of the children. My kids love their teachers.

My daughter thrives at Kiddie Academy. They are not only her educators but, they are also family. She is now about 6 months from starting kindergarten and the school makes a clear effort to ensure my daughters readiness. She shows a constant visible scholastic improvement. I have and would highly recommend Kiddie Academy to other parents whose child’s education, safety, security and livelihood is of utmost importance.

My husband and I began searching for a new place to put our 4 year old son due to the fact that with baby #2 on the way, our child care facility at the time did not have the space for infants. We came across Kiddie Academy and went to meet with the Director in early June. We toured the facility, they gave us a thorough explanation of their curriculum, and assured us multiple times over that they would be able to take care of our son even though he had a speech delay and wasn’t fully potty trained yet. We felt good about putting him there. He started the first week in August. On Monday we dropped him off and met with his teacher that afternoon when we picked him up. She questioned us about his overall status including what our expectations were which we appreciated. On Tuesday, when we picked him up, the Director stopped us saying that she wanted weekly meetings to evaluate progress/​lack of progress with the curriculum. She also mentioned that if he wasn’t meeting their expectations that they would have to go to «plan B.» My husband then called on Wednesday to clarify what this specifically meant, and she stated that he would not be kicked out of the facility, but would possibly be placed in another classroom at a lower level and intensely work on his goals. When observing the cameras that morning during splash time/​recess, we noted that one of the children in the class pushed our son out of his way. Our son was then seen in the middle of the playground crying and when the kid came back over to the area, he got in his personal space again. Our son then pushed the other kid out of his way, the teachers ended up sitting our son out of the way in the hot sun to calm down, where no discipline was ever rendered to the other child. When we went to pick him up that afternoon, his teacher proceeded to tell us that our son had hit/​kicked 3 children and was displaying aggressive/​violent tendencies. Our son has been in child care facilities for 2 ½ years, and we have never been told our son kicked and hit other peers. We received no written reports of such behaviors that day and even called our previous child care facility to see if these types of behaviors were present there. They mentioned that our son was «at no time ever aggressive or violent» and «never struck another child». We dropped him off Thursday morning and by 9:30am, I had received a call from the Director stating that our son had diarrhea, and that if it occurred again, we would have to pick him up. I asked her to pass on to not give him milk for lunch, because sometimes his tummy gets upset with a lot of milk. She stated that I needed to fill out a health information form to not give him milk while he was in their care. I watched the cameras for lunch and they gave my son milk again, even though I had asked them not to. Shortly after lunch, I received another phone call from the Director saying that he had another episode of diarrhea and that he would need to be picked up. I told her that my husband would be coming to get him from work. I also mentioned the milk issue again and that it was given to him for lunch. She stated again that I needed to fill out a form so they would not give him milk. I told her again, that they could give him milk; it just needed to be limited. The Director abruptly cut me off and asked me, «Well what is your definition of limited?» She also promptly reminded me that he needed to be symptom free for a complete 24 hours before returning; meaning that my husband had to leave early from work and thus one of us having to miss work the next day as well. My husband proceeded to pick our son up where he requested food and drink because he was hungry (after just eating lunch). He was completely symptom free and never had a fever or another loose stool again. His progress report from that day mentioned nothing of his diarrhea episodes and even mentioned that he had a PM snack (that he wasn’t there for, because he got sent home early afternoon). Due to all these issues, I proceeded to call the owner of the facility to let him know about my concerns. He listened to my concerns, and assured me that he would follow up and let me know the outcome. My husband and I were pretty upset by the week’s events, and decided that we would be removing him from this facility because it seemed that they could not effectively take care of my child and his special needs. When I went to pick up my son’s belongings, they were left in a trash bag in the front lobby for me to pick up. Still, I have received no apology from the facility that things did not work out, nor any resolution to my concerns from the facility owner or director. I guess my son was just trash to them.

We have one child enrolled at this daycare (more of a school) and our soon to be born child is on the list as well. The place is new and clean and the employees/​owners are all very polite and professional. This daycare offers you the ability to see your children on the webcam and we also receive regular updates through email and texts. They send you pictures of your child performing the various activities. After 1 other daycare and multiple individual sitters, this place is by far the best place to take your children if you have the cash flow. The cost is not outrageous (middle of the road for child care) and there are multiple care options for multiple age groups. They offer school pickups and provide meals and snacks during the day. The children are on a set routine that rarely changes and the staff is not afraid to call and let us know what is going on. The place seems to be growing and getting more staff as more people realize how good of a school this is. My daughter comes home telling us how much she loves her teachers and is learning sign language as well as math (at 2 years old, this is well ahead of the current education standard). They have special activities and encourage individual and social growth. Give them a call and they will spend the time talking to you and getting to know you. Almost every provider at this place knows my daughter and myself by first name.
The place is very secure with one entrance available to get in and a unique system that logs when people come and go (kids included). The director and owners office are open and can see every person coming in and leaving the facility. This place gives my wife a sense of security and comfort knowing that our child is safe and really learning something.

Our 4yo son started at Kiddie Academy the day they opened, 1÷12÷15. They have done a wonderful job with communication, challenging my child, keeping high expectations of our son (behavior). Kiddie Academy serves wholesome meals, always has fresh fruit with breakfast, and veggies with lunch. There are several playground areas and 1 indoor gym for the rainy or cold days. Mary the director is very knowledgable and consistent. She is attentive to the parents, teachers and children. The owners are very active as well and have been on site frequently! Our son’s teachers Ms. Pickles, Ms. Alex, and Ms. Gio really understand kids need defined boundaries, and tough love and that is when children thrive. Thank you Kiddie Academy!!! Our son is so happy, confident, and TIRED at night!
