Barbershop Denim exemplifies attention to detail. From the exterior and interior designs to the hand-​painted signage, the space feels curated and welcoming. Chris is an all-​around artist, and his haircuts have always surpassed my expectations.

Excellent cut for a fair price. Chris is great and loyal to his returning customers. Fun atmosphere and great conversation. I look forward to my monthly visits!

Just had my first cut by Chris and I’m not surprised why this place has so many 5 star reviews. The barbershop is really clean and comfortable with a modern gentleman’s atmosphere (something you would see in GQ magazine). Chris the owner is a great guy and can give an even better fade. If your looking for the perfect cut Chris won’t disappoint. I also went in after work so I was in my suit and Chris took the extra step to lint roll the hair off my collar after removing the cape. He truly takes pride in his work and I will be a return customer for sure.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Chris is everything you want in a barber. He always delivers the best cut for a fair price. The atmosphere in his shop will leave you feeling comfortable and relaxed. His stories are great too.

I have been getting my haircut for about a year at the Barbershop with Chris and can say honestly he gives a excellent haircut! Not to mention the fact that he has an awesomely designed shop and really takes the time too know what any customer is looking for with each specific cut. Which I don’t think is something you get all the time at some Center City barbershops. So if your looking for a great cut and good conversation with someone who generally cares about his craft, Chris is your guy!

Chris is my go-​to. I don’t live in Philly, but when I’m in town visiting, I always stop by to see Chris. He does a fantastic job giving you the look you want, and asks for feedback if he plans to deviate. You leave with a tight look. The shop is sophisticated, always clean, and super accessible.
He does do dry cuts, which was something I wasn’t used to — no preference good or bad. It’s helpful to know going in though.
Not every barber is cool cutting women’s hair, but Chris doesn’t care and will give you a fresh cut regardless of gender.

My fiancé has gotten his hair cut by Chris for the past 3 years, and he’ll never think of going anywhere else. Chris has always been accommodating, has made time for little touch-​ups before important events, and his shop is super cool and clean. My fiancé is Asian, and his hair has proven a bit difficult for other barbers to figure out and control, but Chris has quite the touch. Highly recommend!

I was in Philly from San Diego a couple weeks ago for my buddy’s wedding and we wanted to get a few guys together short notice to get a haircut on Friday before the big day on Saturday. I was looking around for somewhere we could all hang out and have a beer while getting cleaned up. Chris was awesome and accommodated us with very little notice. He called a friend who came and helped out so the wait time was less. The shop is fantastic — super clean and well designed with plenty of seating on sofas and a flat screen. We brought in a few beers from across the street and had a good time. The groom’s dad was with us and said «it was the best cut I’ve ever had.» :) Thanks again Chris, really appreciate the service and we had a great time. Next time I’m out that way I’ll be stopping by for a trim. — Ross

Chris is great. Good cut, nice guy, fair price. I go back even after moving out of the neighborhood — he’s worth it.

Chris is very accommodating and flexible to fit your schedule. His shop has an awesome feel to it and is always clean and well maintained. He takes his time and is very detailed and consistent with his cuts. If you’re looking for a solid haircut at a fair price in the city, I would recommend giving him a visit.

Barbershop Denim is my go to ever since I moved to Philly. Chris knows how to cut hair and is an all around great guy. I leave happy with my hair every time I come here. The atmosphere of the Barbershop is modern, comfortable and super nice. Couldn’t imagine going anywhere else but here in Philly.

The shop is clean and cool. Chris is the man, and he really loves cutting hair. He’s an artistic guy who can give you exactly what you want or help you come up with a new look. He also gives you a smooth neck shave with the straight blade at the end. All of his equipment is clean and well-​kept. Best cut I’ve gotten in the city, and I’ve lived here for over four years. I followed him from his old spot after being referred to him by a friend about two years ago. Chris also showed up and didn’t miss a beat after tearing up his knee a few months ago. The guy plays hurt, and this is admirable. I highly recommend him for men of all ages.

Chris always does a great job. You can tell he really cares about his customers and wants each person to leave happy. The shop itself is clean, has a nice waiting area and a relaxed vibe.

It’s a nice clean modern shop — if you did have to wait in the lounge area, you probably wouldn’t mind much– comfy furniture and some good reading material.
Chris is single handedly running the shop for now, so no worries about getting some random barber school grad — Chris will cut your hair and Chris is good. He is a relaxed and open speaker, which as other reviews show make him very like-​able by most. As someone who doesn’t hold back much myself, I understand how a few people can get rubbed the wrong way by this, but chances are you will like him.
The cut was great — top notch in fact, but $ 35 is a hell of a lot to pay for a guy’s hair cut. I doubt Chris is rolling around in a Bentley, it must cost a lot to single handedly run a shop like this downtown, and one guy can only cut so much hair. From that perspective $ 35 doesn’t sound unfair, but to a customer in a competitive supply-​heavy market, the reality is it’s a steep price even for a quality reliable cut.
Bottom line: If you can afford to pay about twice what a men’s haircut typically goes for — you won’t feel bad about spending that money here. However, if you’re expecting your haircut to somehow be 200% better than your typical $ 15 cut; I’d say that’s a stretch for most men’s haircuts.

Just stopped by Chris’ shop for the first time and I am impressed.
Solid scissors cut. And he finished off cleaning up my neckline with the straight razor. The guy just knows what he is doing and takes his time doing it.
He is a true artist at heart and it shows in his craft and his shop. And he is an affable, fun guy to talk to. What more can you ask from a barber.
Go. You will not regret it.

Chris is hands down the best barber I’ve ever been to. I’ve been getting haircuts from him for almost 2 years now, and I’ve always been impressed. His new shop is awesome, comfortable, modern, and inviting. Its a very laid back atmosphere, so if you have to wait a few minutes after your appointment time just relax. Chris knows exactly how to manage my hair. I’m not good at articulating what I want done to it, but he just knows what looks good on me and I trust his expertise. He has an awesome attention to detail and always makes sure things are perfect before letting you leave. This is why I will always keep coming back. I highly recommend stopping in!

I was there Oct 14. This shop opened recently. Its VERY nice inside. Modern and old school at the same time. The owner/​barber Chris is a real pro. All of his equipment is top notch. This is not just a haircut. Its an experience. In the past I’ve always gone to chain places but never again.
