Blasius Chocolate Factory

I am 65years old and have been going to Blasius candy since I was a child. My Mother and Aunt would take me around to Kinsey and Paul to this wonderful spot. We would have ice cream in their wonderful little ice cream shop then buy candy to tak home with us. Best candy in town. A major loss when they moved. May oldest daughter loved to walk to the avenue then on the way home stop and buy her candy. I am so glad that they moved to Venango st so I can still go there and buy the best chocholate in Phila. Stay forever. I am going to stop over this weekend, because I am going to visit my Daughter and her family and want to take them a great treat. Every last one of their chocolates is incredible. And their seasonal candies are amazing too.

Going to this hidden gem for our annual Easter eggs (with family member names written on top in coordinating icing) has long been a tradition in our family. The glass-​top display cases and consistent placement of their delicious offerings only adds to the charm of this family owned, Philly bred business. Where else could you find a white chocolate bunny driving a race car, milk chocolate blimp or an edible Cross in dark, milk or white chocolate? This place! The shelves were a tad bare this year, perhaps I just got there later than usual? Candy cigarettes were no where to be found, really disappointed about that. However at the end of the day each egg/​Cross/​bunny were individually wrapped and tied with Spring color infused ribbons, standard operating procedure since opening decades ago. These nice personal touches make the drive and at times the wait in line holding well worn hand written numbers well worth it.

This place has been in business forever and is one of the hidden gems of
Philadelphia. Worth a detour for holidays, which would not be the same without this old fashioned wonder. The price is definitely right too!

My mom has always gotten our Easter candy from Blasius, going back to the early 70s. Their chocolate is out of this world amazing. I’ve never had chocolate from anywhere that compares. When my wife had her first Blasius chocolate the look on her face was priceless! It’s very creamy, hint of coconut I think. This is a tradition my Mom started for us that has to keep going!

What’s not to love about Blasius??? Great service, amazing selection and to die for chocolate. Buttercreams=heaven. My Grandmom continues to make her pilgrimage into the ‘hood every year to get buttercreams for everybody’s Christmas gift. The ladies who work here are sweet as could be & even wrap the boxes for you at Christmas time. Sketchy neighborhood, but fantastic candy.

I use to live around the corner from there and they are the best chocolates you will ever eat. They make their own irish potato candy, their giant chocolate easter eggs are out of this world, and their chocolate crosses are a tradition for people in the neighborhood. You haven’t had chocolate until you’ve had it from Blasius.

I was given Blasius buttercreams as a gift and now I won’t buy from anyone but them. Their candy is the best and they aren’t stingy with portion sizes.
