Went for a couples massage and was very pleased. The therapists focused on the problem areas we mentioned and the experience overall was exactly what we were looking for. They also had a great selection of teas!

Just had my first bikini wax, I was really nervous but Kim was great! Very personable and she makes it as painless as possible. The spa is professional and clean, I definitely recommend it if your looking for a waxing service in Philadelphia!

I receive massages on at least a semi-​monthly basis, and have for the last 10 years, but in all my experiences I have never experienced a therapist with as strong of hands as Renee, and she’s teeny! She found sore spots that I didn’t even know I had. I told her I couldn’t wait to see what I was going to be like after she just released 43 years of built-​up toxins. And while I’m sore, I’m grateful because I know my body needed this. Renee was amazing and I’ll be traveling back to Philly just to see her. Totally worth the 3 hour drive!

I am very pleased with Body Restoration Spa. I get my eyebrows waxed here and have not had a problem. I tried the blue wax the first time but it didn’t seem to get the hairs. I use the regular wax now and it is always available. The price for eyebrow wax is similar to other spas I have used.
Missing a star for online booking of appointments, although I have not had any issues scheduling via email.

I’m a new Unilocaler and rarely write reviews but after my experience today, the first thing that I thought of was «I gotta Unilocal this.» It was ridiculous. I called three times to see if I could talk to a person but finally just left a message. I said I wanted to get a couple waxing services, a massage, and a brow tint, and was wondering if they had anything Monday. Cara, the receptionist I’m guessing, called an hour later and this is how the conversation went
Cara: I saw you wanted to book some appointments on Monday
Me: Yes I did! Do you have anything available?
Cara: No, we could only do a massage
Me: Okay so no waxing? That’s really the priority
Cara (annoyed): No we can’t
Me: Okay we’ll let me see, are you open Sunday?
Cara (annoyed again): Yeah but Sunday’s are usually really booked
Me: Ummm ok like forever?
Cara (can you guess the tone by now? It was annoyed!): What date?
Me: Ok I’m just going to book somewhere else. Thanks.
I called on a Thursday and totally understand they might be booked this Sunday and Monday, but come on, at least try to make a future appointment then. There was nothing like, «let me see what I can do» or «what’s your availability.» It was the weirdest appointment request I’ve ever had, I felt they didn’t even want to actually book it. Like did they not like the sound of my voice? No idea why the rude treatment.

Scheduled facials for my friend and I visiting from out of town. They confirmed the appointment for the 7^th. When we got there the elevator was broken, so we carried our suitcases up 3 flights of stairs to find that they put our appointments in for feb 14. Asked us if we just wanted to come then. No apologies. Asked them if they’d call around other spas and while they did they were pretty reluctant to do so. Kept suggesting we just get mani pedi somewhere.

Best massage I’ve had in a long time. Also during it she continued to check in with me regarding the pressure of the massage. Everything about my experience there is worth 5 stars.

Body Restoration Spa has the best waxes I’ve ever had. They use a hard blue wax that is so much less painful than strip waxing.
The location has a great calming vibe. When you come in everything feels very comfortable. The location has several rooms, providing maximum privacy and comfort. Body Restoration is so clean, and as someone who is super concerned with cleanliness when it comes to spa services, I have never found a place that has better met my expectations.
For waxing, they always wear gloves. Unlike most other spas, each wax job is performed from a new, untouched small pot of wax, so I’m never concerned about double dipping issues. Like I said, the wax has been the most painless I ever have and I’m always pleased with the outcome. Cara, the owner of the spa, is the best! She has great bedside manner, and is really friendly. She remembered me as a client even though I had come in only twice in about a year.
The service in general is really good. They have a 24 hour cancellation policy and usually charge you if you don’t cancel within that time. Last time, I wasn’t able to make my appointment because my Amtrak from NYC had been delayed and needed to cancel about an hour before my scheduled appointment, and they cancelled it free of charge, since they knew that I was delayed because of the weather and because of forces outside of my control.
Wish I could come here all the time! Definitely would if I still lived in Philly.

Been there twice and decided to purchase a six-​time package. Relaxing environment, professional massage, friendly staff. Only catch: the entrance is hidden …

Came here for a couple’s massage with my girlfriend. Was able to call and make the appointment with no problem and get an appointment that very weekend. Very friendly receptionist. Even though we ran late, our massage therapists Renee and Katie did not cut our time! Both girls gave a great massage and made us feel comfortable. The only reason for giving it four stars is that you can only tip in cash. I would suggest maybe having the receptionist tell us over the phone.

I arrived to Philly being sore from a hiking trip. I used my Unilocal to find this spa close to the hotel that I was staying. This was one of the best spa I had in a long time. The message was great and the receptionist was great for a last minute walk in. If I am ever in Philadelphia again I would come here.

Hubby surprised me with a much needed spa treatment while in town. He was able to call & make the spot the night before and they text you to confirm which is nice. Location is tucked between some stores in Walnut so reading is a must. Place is beautiful inside– relaxing music, great snack selection, thick robes that I wanted to buy and off I went. He booked me a 1 hour Swedish massage and Kate hooked me up! All the knots from traveling long distance from Houston were gone! It’s small but well equipped and a nice treat in the city. Prices are comparable to most spa treatments and I felt like butter once done. You need a credit card to reserve over the phone & pay once you get there. Money well spent.

I was just reminded of this dreadful place after looking up massage services on Unilocal.And I could not help myself but to write this review because of the terrible experience. I wanted to do something nice so I bought a $ 200 gift certificate from this place a while ago as a gift for my girlfriend. They have a good Unilocal rating, but the rating is totally unfounded.
DO NOT EVER WASTE MONEY buying a GIFT CERTIFICATE from this place. Their policies are terrible, you might as well give cash for a gift as your money will go to waste.
She had scheduled an appointment and they wanted to charge her an extra $ 50 for a ‘new customer’ charge. After that was all done with, she had her appointment but due to traffic, she called them up to let them know she will be 15 minutes late. For 15 minutes, they ended up cancelling her appointment and charging the full $ 200 amount on top of a $ 50 charge.
Trying to treat someone to a nice gift only to find out something like this happened is just a slap in the face. This isn’t a review for the massage services, they were never experienced by either of us due to this unfortunate incident. This is a WARNING to anyone thinking of buying GIFT CERTIFICATES from this place. $ 250 for services NEVER rendered. What a SCAM.

Kim is a fantastic waxer for my eyebrows! She listens to what I want, and is flexible and efficient. She is also easy to talk to. The facility is clean and relaxing, which makes me want to get a couples massage there soon instead of having to leave so soon after waxing.
I was not able to make an appointment with Kim once, and I was less happy with the person who waxed my eyebrows that time, as they did not ask what I wanted before doing anything. Not a big complaint though.

I received one of the best massage ever by Rennee, she was perfect in every way I get lots of massages and she took the icing. I even got 6 more with her in the future. And the receptionist was great. I found my spot.

If you’re feeling stressed, tired, worn-​out, on-​edge, unpretty — this is your sanctuary. My wonderful girlfriends got me a voucher because I’d been experiencing all the above, and I left feeling relaxed, energized, rejuvenated, light, and really damn pretty. (Note: I definitely didn’t LOOK it. I was stripped of makeup, had a little bit of red over here, and a little bit of shininess over there. But I FELT it, and isn’t that what matters, fellow ladies??) I wish I knew exactly what Cara (the esthetician) was doing so I could describe it more in detail. To be frank, I actually didn’t want to know because it felt indescribably amazing to not think and to not care. The 60-​minute facial consisted of a lot of gentle massaging, generous amounts of steam, creams that cooled my skin, warm towels, exfoliants and oils that both soothed and stung (in a good way). The facials are also tailored to your needs and goals for your skin, and I felt as though mine were addressed. Before the facial began, I noted that I wanted less freckles from the sun, Cara recommended vitamin C, and I’m pretty sure I smelled something citrusy, generously applied to my face. Beyond what I had in mind for my face, I felt incredibly refreshed all over my body afterwards. The worst part of my experience was when it ended. I highly highly recommend this place for all your pampering needs.

I went here for a bikini and leg wax. I don’t get waxed very often. I think the last time was like 2010. But I’m headed to the beach and it sounded like a good idea. I called on Monday or Tuesday and the friendly front desk person was able to fit me in on Thursday morning.
The space is beautiful and clean. The staff is super friendly. Their website has descriptive images that clarify about what they mean by Brazilian versus bikini versus deep bikini. Kim was my esthetician. She was easy and fun to talk to while she sorted out my business. I felt totally comfortable while she worked on me. You might be able to get a wax for cheaper elsewhere, but both the quality of service and the hygiene and atmosphere won’t touch that of Body Restoration’s. I will definitely be coming back here again.

I made an appointment on Monday for a Brazilian wax on Saturday via their online booking system. Friday night I receive a voicemail saying that they are fully booked for Saturday and that I should call to reschedule for another day. Saturday morning I was stuck scrambling trying to find a place that could fit me in. After calling 3 places I finally got in somewhere. I’m leaving for vacation first thing on Monday morning and this was not the way I wanted to start my vacation. I don’t know why they waited almost a week to contact me saying my appointment wasn’t kept!!! If they would have contacted me on Monday or Tuesday I may not have had such a hard time getting in somewhere else. So frustrating!!!

Had a fantastic massage last night. Medium to Firm and hit all the right spots. The spa is clean, welcoming, and has a good snack selection in the waiting area with comfy couches and interesting reading material! Lockers to keep your stuff were nice and the flow of service was great. I would definitely come back again!

Had a fantastic maternity massage from Renee this weekend. I nearly fell asleep at multiple points. Great pressure, not so hard that I wanted to cry but defiantely felt her working on my stress points.
Facilities inside were lovely, much better than expected given the entry hallway, etc.
Only thing that keeps me from giving this a 5 star is that it doesn’t have all the fancy stuff that I feel like makes a «Spa» an experience, like sauna, steamroom, relaxation room. But there was some nice lemon/​lime water and teas and a couch to sit in and nice robes to change into. So very close. If i could give 4.5 stars, I would.

The last few times that I’ve been to BodyRest, Cara was my esthetician. Recently when I called to make an appointment, she informed me that she is no longer waxing, and that my next visit would be with Kim. I was a little nervous about having a new esthetician, but Kim was absolutely terrific!
First off, she was super easy to talk to — It was like catching up with a friend. That definitely helps take your mind off of the pain and awkwardness for sure! Kim was professional, and paid attention to the details. The wax was hot, but not burning hot. She checked to make sure that I was comfortable. Overall, very pleased with the service. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes.
Some other tidbits that I haven’t mentioned before:
— There are lockers in the restrooms to store your things if you’re getting a massage.
— Healthy assortment of snacks and lemon water/​cucumber water in the waiting area.
— Soothing music playing throughout.
— Received some free samples of products that they sell in the spa.
— Tips are cash only.

I went to Body Restoration for a couples massage. When I tried to call to make an appointment, no one answered the phone so I left a message as prompted to do. I never got a call back and had to call three more times before anyone answered to put in my reservation.
When I got to the location I was impressed with the spa atmosphere, however the robes we were given were old and worn and not soft and the receptionist was dressed very casual, in jeans, and not welcoming at all.
That being said, once we got into the room with the massage therapists, it was a wonderful experience! Both massage therapist were excellent. One was named Renee and unfortunately I cannot remember the other woman’s name, possibly Diane. I have had many massages in the past and it was my boyfriends first. We both thoroughly enjoyed the hour.
So, in the end, the massage was a great experience, but for $ 200 I expected more from the spa.

Having been disappointed by the waxing services provided by some establishments more local to my neighborhood, I decided to try Body Restoration after hearing a friend’s recommendation. I was most interested in trying the services here because of the different types of wax that they use. I was really impressed with the physical space which is surprisingly serene given that the building is situated on a busy stretch of Walnut Street. The spa is well appointed with plush furniture, fluffy robes, sandals, lockers for belongings, flavored waters, teas, and KIND bars.
As mentioned in other reviews, getting into the building can be problematic. There have been problems with the functioning of the street-​level, outside door and I was pressing the buzzer for quite some time before I realized that the door wasn’t even locked. It appears that only one person is at the reception desk, so if they taking care of other clients, it could be difficult reaching someone to get into the building.
Leave yourself 15 or so minutes to spare and be prepared to fill out a few forms (demographics, skin history, previous spa experiences) before receiving your services. Bring cash for tip — I’m not sure why this is so surprising to others as it seems to be a fairly standard practice at many salons and spas. I’m ok with any practice that ensures that individuals get their tips quickly and fairly. I felt that their pricing was really reasonable. With waxing, I’ve learned that you often get what you pay for. This time, I was looking to avoid burns, residual redness, and overlooked stray hairs.
Kim is an excellent aesthetician. She was very friendly and welcoming, making me completely at ease. Some Center City establishments can be intimidating and make you feel that you’ve got to be a member of some special caste system to get good service. Kim was very thorough but gentle — she’ll make sure to eradicate any stubborn or stray hairs. She provided me with helpful after-​care tips and suggested a reasonable follow-​up schedule for future waxing. I really liked the blue wax and found it to be much less painful than they typical method using hot wax and strips. Even though it will mean schlepping into the city, Body Restoration will be my go-​to spot.

I recently moved to Philadelphia and tried this place and was happily surprised with the quality of service– the place was very comfortable and service was very professional. Not to mention they offer tasty snacks and refreshments while you sit in the lounge area.
One thing I found to be a little strange — you can only tip in cash, so make sure to bring some with you.

I have been wanting to get a bikini wax for years but have been too scared to do it. A month or so ago a friend talked me into finally doing it and recommended Body Restoration. Not only did she recommend I go there but she recommended getting a brazilian. So, a friend (who was going for her first time) and I went off on this adventure. I was definitely put to ease as I read the rest of the reviews on here. I took some advil and bought the No Scream Cream and applied it when I got there. I saw Allyson, who was extremely nice and tried to make the process as easy as she could and I am told the blue wax is the best way to go about this. It was still extremely painful even with all of this but it definitely depends on the person because my friend only described it as «uncomfortable.» Also, there was a good amount of hair left behind that I didn’t notice until later (my friend also told me that the same thing happened to her). I am sure I could go back for a fix but I honestly have no desire to do so. Bottom line, I will go back to Body Restoration but I will try a different person (only because I spent all of that money, went thru all of that pain, and still had hair left behind) and I will probably go with a Hollywood instead of a Brazilian. I gave an extra star because the owner contacted me immediately after I posted this and offered a «fix». This amazing customer service solidifies my decision to go back again.
