Great atmosphere great ladies. Mark and Rich are great guys. Beer prices are good for this type of establishment. Michelle Melissa Suzi Mel and Emmy are great tenders. Love the dive bar environment.

Meh. This place is old and tired and it’s always the same four lame dancers on the four or five times I’ve stopped in. Good place to grab a beer on the way to someplace else, but don’t expect any more than that.

How have I not written a review for Centerfolds yet?
The absolute sweetest stripper that you will ever meet work here. They will come to your table and shoot the breeze. There is zero pressure to buy lap dances at Centerfolds, although they are always available (in an odd little room up the spiral staircase.) And there is no cover. All of the girls here also work at The Republican after hours (see my review of that place, which is a similar experience later in the night.)
On the minus side, the place is an unequivocal dive. The restroom never flushes (and I don’t think the light has ever worked there.) They keep it dimly lit, ostensibly for the ambiance but, let’s face it, they are also covering up the dirt on the floor.
Drink prices are a bit higher than most dive bars, but keep in mind, that there is no cover charge, so they have to make it somewhere.
I’ve never been able to figure out how this place stays in business, being that I have never seen it close to full and I always go on Saturday nights at 9 or 10 PM, which you think would be peak time in this business, but appreciate it while you can.

Eat the wings

I’ll start this review with a small caveat; I think I visited on an off night. It was a Saturday at 10:30 so there is really no explanation for it being slow (it was the first Flyers game after the lockout. Maybe all of South Philly was sports bar-​ing it up?).
The Basics:
–No Cover
–A Yuengling will run you $ 4. A shot of Whiskey and a shot of Vodka totals $ 9.
-$ 20 dances. The girls don’t seem to push these but there is an odd little room on the second floor for Couch dances. More on that in a moment.
–Interesting note: Apparently there are no house fees for the girls so they get to keep whatever they make. The things you learn on a slow night talking to a stripper…
Centerfolds Lounge is located in a narrow little rowhome at 16^th and Passyunk, just down the street from the Melrose Diner. The décor is… sparse. A few red xmas lights gave the room it’s ambiance. The bar and stage run the length of the right side while a few tables and chairs line the left. A small spiral staircase leads up to the second floor to both the dancers’ changing area and couch dance room.
There were 4 girls on rotation (apparently 3 – 4 is typical for this place) shaking it on a small stage (with a pole placed at the two front corners. Seems precarious when the ladies are spinning about them. I’m not from OSHA but you would think that there should be more floor there just in case someone slips). Prior to her set each lady would enter a selection of songs into the circa 1995 giant CD changer (enjoy the long pause as we change CD’s!). Now for the girls themselves: an interesting mix of cute ladies (3 toned and 1 curvy) who were very friendly and willing stop and chat for a while (If you are looking for Delilah’s level talent go pay Delilah’s level prices. Think more along the lines of the Pennsport Pub.). This is the least pressured tipping situation that I have ever encountered in an adult entertainment establishment.
As to that couch dance room…
Up that narrow spiral staircase is a room where the walls have been covered with pink sheets and a few wooden animals masks and spears are tacked up to give it the thinnest veneer of a safari or African Tundra theme. The excess of lighting in the room really highlights the half-​hearted nature of the attempt (but, hey, I’m sure that they were decorating on a tight budget). Grab a seat on one of the three uncomfortable, high heel shaped chairs and enjoy yourself.
Don’t let the frankness of this review scare you off. She’s not polished or sophisticated but I actually had one of my best, most relaxed and fun strip club experiences at Centerfolds Lounge. Go figure.
Addendum: Go late, really late. Apparently this place is always dead before 11:30/12

A great place to relax and have a couple of drinks
