The liner notes on our record may list some musicians and producers but if you want to know who’s really responsible for our record it’s simple. Dan. You think we got that sweet guitar tone on our own? Think again. It takes a classic Italian sandwich bought for $ 3 to make music of any real quality. You think our fucking drummer can play a decent fill on his own? You’re dreaming. Only Dan sets doughnut prices so low that a talentless hack can get the sugar rush he needs to go Ginger Baker on some shit. It didn’t hurt that Dan’s shop was spitting distance from where we cut the record. That being said, if we’d recorded the thing in the Mohave Desert we would’ve had his sandwiches shipped to our remote desert outpost. A little bit of Fishtown in a ghost town.
I doubt you’ll ever read this Dan. Frankly, I’m happy about it. If you were the kind of proprietor who would read this, well, I doubt Dan’s Fresh Meats would be the kind of place it is.
