Established in 1983.

When Lou Di Giovanni was young, his father took him to the shop of Matt Giannone, a family friend, to get Lou a job.

«You don’t have to pay him,» said Mr. Di Giovanni. «Just teach him.»

And so began the lifelong career of Lou Di Giovanni’s greatest passion, plumbing.

«I worked as a for a long time sweeping floors and carrying tools back in the 1970s,» said Lou. «From 1976 until 1981, I worked as an apprentice during the day and attended Dobbins Plumbing School at night.»

In 1980, Lou took the Journeyman’s Test. Two years later, he received his Masters Plumbing License.

The following year, 1983, Lou Di Giovanni started his own plumbing business and nourished it into a successful business that continues to serve Philadelphia and all of the surrounding areas.

I called Lou on a Wednesday about my toilet and he came over a day later. He didn’t overcharge me and he fixed the issue in 15 minutes. I am never using another plumber! Lou is honest, hardworking and been in the business a long time. I highly recommend him!!! Thanks Lou!

I didn’t hire these guys, but they did do an estimate. They were easy to schedule, showed up on time, and did not mind taking their time while checking out the many issues I needed addressed. The estimate they provided (and this was a BIG job) was pretty low. The only reason I did not hire them was because I had a different quote come in that said I did not need to dig up my sidewalk. DiGiovanni was pretty honest when he said «I can try to do this without digging up the sidewalk, but I can’t promise you. You should prepare for the worst case scenario.» Currently getting the job done without the sidewalk needing to be dug up, and considering myself lucky.

We moved into a new home and soon discovered the AC wasn’t working. I called and left a message for AC repair, and they got back to me within a couple hours. They came that day to repair the AC, and fixed it quickly for a reasonable price.
It’s great to find reliable, friendly folks so early after moving to a new place.

I called on Monday and left a message. It is now Wednesday and they have not called back. It’s been very hot and humid and my AC doesn’t work, forgive me if I’m a little impatient, but I’m surprised that they don’t return phone calls after reading such positive reviews! Very disappointed.

We decided to call Di Giovanni to service our Air Conditioner before the start of summer based on all of the previous reviews written on here. I am so glad we chose to call them. I left a message and had my call returned within a couple of hours and an appointment scheduled for a few days later. They were on time and very courteous. I showed them our problem with our air conditioning unit and they had a resolution immediately. As a new homeowner, I had several general question I wanted to ask to be more knowledgable. Lou and his team knew exactly how to answer all of my questions and gave us some suggestions.
It is great knowing that there is a reliable company in the neighbhorhood with reasonable prices for service calls like these. I will absolutely be calling them for any problems we may have in the future.

We had a pipe split in our basement. Found these guys on Unilocal and haven’t looked back. He came relatively on time, fixed the pipe and gave us some tips on another issue we have. We would absolutely use again. Actually going to call soon since the A/​C doesn’t seem to be working.

Last week was the second (or third, maybe) time I have called Lou DiGiovanni, and every time he is responsive, nice, and makes himself available. Prices are always reasonable, he is a total pleasure to work with. Whether it’s an emergency, or more routine stuff, he is flexible as far as scheduling. I would recommend Lou and his team to anyone in need of plumbing or heating. There is no one else I would call.

I always read reviews on here, but never felt compelled to write one before today. These guys are amazing. I had a terrible plumbing situation going on at my house (outside pipes were frozen) and had two companies come out and tell me there was nothing they could do and about 10 others on the phone say the same thing. These guys came within an hour and had it fixed within another. I can now shower and use the bathroom! Definitely will use again!

Wonderful quick and friendly service. My heat died in the middle of the night and I called Di Giovanni after finding them online at 8AM sharp. Not only did they pick up, but they were at my house within the hour. A quick affordable repair had me up and running by 9:30 AM with recommendations for possible future trouble. Lou was extremely pleasant and professional and I’ll definitely be giving them business in the future.

When our air conditioning stopped working I contacted these guys, mainly because of how great the reviews on Unilocal were. Well, I couldn’t have been more disappointed. They came in and without checking any meters or taking anything apart they told me that I needed a new unit and it would cost $ 2800. When I asked if a part could fix the current unit they said «nope, it’s shot». I was prepared to hire them, but this just didn’t seem right so I called for a second opinion. The second guy came out and cleaned all the tubes and coils and replaced the air condenser and relay. The result? For $ 495 my central air works better than it has in years. If you hire these guys, be aware that they are looking for the big payday and have no interest in servicing your unit.

I cannot say how happy I was to find DiGiovanni Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning. My central a/​c was out, and after 3 days of calling a lot of other HVAC contrators of which none returned phone cslls, I cslled DiGiovanni’s. They called back in less than 10 minutes, came out for an estimate for a new unit that day, scheduled an appointment, cslled to confirm the night before, and showed up on time! They were courteous, efficient and fast! I would definitely recommend them and plan on using them for all of my future HVAC needs!

Lou and his stand up crew (George and Rick) came by to fix a leaking pipe under the side walk. They were super professional, laying out rugs so they don’t dirty up the floors, and fast and efficient — they worked through the job. Lou was very accommodating in that he replaced my kitchen faucet that I would’ve had him come back to do for no charge! The best part, the total bill was less than he quoted me at the beginning! Honest, prompt, reliable, and trustworthy. It’s good to know and have a reliable plumber for your plumbing needs, and Lou is as good as it gets! I will definitely repeat and send recommendation his way.

I started off by calling a few companies. Some didn’t call back and others charged a fee just to come out and look at my problem (s). These guys were great! Came out to look at my HVAC filter, or lack of a filter, and my leaking garbage disposal. Within a few days everything was fixed and working fine. All for a very good price. Was also able to use AMEX. Highly recommend!

I have nothing but great things to say about Lou and his team at DiGiovanni plumbing. Lou has been in South Philly for 30 years and now I know how he has stayed in business for so long. Lou was courteous and professional. He cleaned up when he was finished the work and even gave my husband great tips on little changes that can be made to other parts of plumbing around the house!
I hired Lou initially because he did not speak down to me, like other plumbers we have hired. He explained everything thoroughly and logically. Lou did the work within 2 business days and used high quality products. His prices were fair and the work was OUTSTANDING!
We used Lou, this time, for a utility sink installation and shower faucet replacement. We will be using him again in the future to work on the HVAC system.

I could not have been more pleased with the response and service I received from Di Giovanni Plumbing & Heating. I wanted to get an in-​line humidifier installed in my existing HVAC system but I couldn’t get a call returned from 2 other HVAC contractors (one of which had done the original system installation). I understand that this is a busy time of year for HVAC contractors (people turning on their heat for the first time since last winter and discovering that it isn’t working), but I am amazed that any company can afford to leave business on the table.
[gets down off soapbox] Anyhoo — Lou responded quickly, came out the next day for a site inspection, presented me with options, ordered the parts and performed the installation 4 days later. The installation went very smoothly, and they didn’t mind (or didn’t seem to mind) me sticking around and asking questions.

When my favorite plumbing and heating guy retired, I was at a loss to find a good reliable guy that wasn’t going to charge me an arm and a leg for service. When my heater wasn’t working, I had to find someone quickly. I read his review on Unilocal and called at 8:05, he called back at 8:21 and within the hour my heater was back on line and the cost was less than what most people would hit you for a service charge. He’s local, he’s a Master Plumber and now, he’s my go to guy!

Finding a good, reliable plumber ranks up there with dental work. You’re scared to death you’ll stumble upon some hack who will over charge you and do unnecessary work. So it makes me very pleased to say Lou was great! The work was done quickly and neatly and was affordable too. Everything is working great (it’s so nice to have a hot water heater that works properly). We wanted a sink in our basement and had been told by another plumber that we would need a pump because our drain pipe is elevated. Lou just put the sink on concrete blocks — a more efficient and affordable solution! Thanks, Lou!
