This is the bar you go on Christmas morning after your whole family leaves you, your house burns down and you fall off the wagon again. Quite possibly the most depressing bar scene I’ve ever witnessed. I suppose I was wrong to assume that because this bar was somewhat close to Main Street there would be some action here and positive vibes. As soon as I walked in… Immediate feelings of awkward unhappiness overcame us. Not even any music on. We did a quick shot, paid and left. Maybe it was a fluke thing but I’m not going to go back and check it out again.

I’m not one to complain, however I am so excited to write this review that I am pregnant with emotion. Enter East End Tavern at a little past midnight, my roommate and I take a seat at the bar. The bar tender quickly greets us, and says«you guys were in here earlier, you caused trouble.» Um no! I haven’t been to east end tavern since November. The dude had a chip on his shoulder, and was happy to take it out on us. The dirty look on his face looked like he meant trouble. So then he even carded us. We were pleased to give him our IDs because obviously not underage. After he carded us, he then said yeah you were in here earlier. No. At that point we weren’t interested in staying and promptly left. Not trying to box an old a$$ bar tender. I would avoid east end tavern at all costs. They are ageist, only accept the locals in, and are plain rude.

Very divey bar with local yunkers as permanent fixtures in the seats. Dollar Jell-O shots and cheap beer is why I go. I don’t know how they make the most alcohol filled Jell-O shots known to man. Great way to start your night if you want it to get crazy.

This is a fantastic local bar. The staff is friendly, the patrons are colorful and the beer is ridiculously inexpensive. I asked the bartender if they could stock my favorite beer(Dale’s Pale Ale) and a few days later it was part of their lineup. I am sure that the frequency in which I patronize this bar had something to do with that but it tells me that they listen to their customers and try to accommodate the best they can.

This is a good place to get drinks if you are not into crowds. Expect an older, local crowd. Bartenders are very friendly and drinks are extremely inexpensive. They have some games and a jukebox. The music is not too loud so you can actually talk in there.

This place put a smile on my face after the dawson street pub incident that occured earlier in the night. Got here at 12:30AM and there were only like 4 people in the joint, all seasoned locals I presume. It was hilarious though when I walked in, everyone, even the bartender was intently watching the Discovery Channel, Queen Elizabeth special on if she had balls. Me and My girlfriend sat there quietly for a minute or two wondering if it was ok to talk, I felt like i was back in high school social studies. The bartender was really nice though, and he made sure we felt comfortable, I can tell he is a really chill dude. Had myself a Stoudt’s and slouched in my chair for for a bit and relaxed. Hopefully one day I’ll be on these guys levels when I get older lol.

Best dive in Manayunk! Great staff with really cheap drinks. They are beginning to cater to a new clientele with craft beer including Yards, Victory, and Slyfox!

I got to say this little place is one of the last throw back bars in Manayunk. I was on a bar crawl with this bar number three in the crawl. The first two place’s we stopped at were the Terrace Tavern & The Old Eagle which are located just 5 min. away. I was happy to see that they had PBR on tap and I’m sure it was because they were not running a special. It was my turn to buy the round and using my Jedi mind tricks I got off quite easy as 2PBR’s, a Coors Light, A Lager & a Twisted Tea came to just $ 14.00, you just got to love that. The bar is not real big and some of the highlights are the jukebox and the shuffle bowl. They also have a few video games and that’s about it. We had a great time, so that what counts the most as the bartender is quite nice and made you feel welcome. They have your basic bar menu and the selection of beer is mostly domestic but hey it fits right in here as the prices are right. The next two bars are Dawson Street and T. Hogan’s so this made for a nice crawl as they are all only 5 to ten minutes apart walking.

Nice little divey bar for when you want to lay low. The selection of beers on tap and in the case isn’t great, but they have the basics. Beers are pretty cheap. Plus they have table bowling and megatouch games. The décor inside is kind of eclectic and kitschy — moose heads, hunting plaques. My favorite item is the velvet painting of the chick in fetish gear over the bar which you can see when you walk in. This is a taste of Old Manayunk before its«frat-ification» … a true neighborhood watering hole full of colorful locals with interesting stories.

The East End is what it is, and it isn’t all that bad. This is the after party bar for people who have grown tired of Castle Rocks(not that Castle Rocks is bad by any means). Cheap drinks and a good juke box are what highlight this place, not the mention the lack of a crowd. Don’t expect to have any sort of exotic beer or anything like that; this is a throwback to when Manayunk was a textile and mill town, brass tacks. The East End is the type of place that you will hit up before you head out on a Friday or Saturday night, but you can easily lose track of time and end up staying much longer than you originally intended. It is also the perfect place to wind the night down and get a six-pack to go before you head home. Again, nothing fancy, but that isn’t what this place is about.
