Elite Event at Area 919

Quite belated, but I needed to chime in. The party was excellent. Great space, engaging crowd, and very cool freebies. Carrie did a fantastic job lining up the sponsors, and she mingles like no other.
If you have some coin and are in the market for furniture, I would definitely recommend checking out Area 919. They offer numerous great pieces in a wide range of styles, cool stuff if you’re thinking about ditching your FLAUBNORK bookshelf from Ikea. You won’t get the false sense of satisfaction from «building» your furniture though.
Looking forward to the next one.

yikes! Sorry for the late review but better late than never! I had a great time at the elite event this month. Carrie– you were fantastic as usual, the best party host in this damn city! 919 was pretty cool too, a very nice venue. Everything was great, can’t wait to see you all again in 2009!

Area 919 (and Baltzell in the front) was a pleasantly different choice of venue for a Unilocal Elite event.
The space itself is lovely, with multiple galleries to appreciate the art on display (prints and architectural antiques), and furniture and accessories on sale in the front. Folks mingled amongst cherubic forms, drinking in the atmosphere and enjoying massages, baked goods, chocolate, and WineO-​supplied wine. Thanks Carrie E. for organizing a wonderful event, Kevin L. and Michael E. for supporting, the enthusiastic models for strutting their stuff, various sponsors for providing their wares and personnel, and Michael Garden, the gracious host of Area 919.
Oh, and thanks to the bartender who poured me a vodka shot — greatly appreciated.

Omg i had such a great time! The models look great and i love the art galery a lot. the best part was when i got my massage and it was amazing! I met some amazing people and even people that i know haha. they had a lot of furniture that was on sale and of course i was taking pictures left to right (until my camara died) :(I would love to come here again. I got to meet Carrie which was awesome :)

Awesome space. Awesome massages. Freakin’ outstanding chocolates. I’m not even a huge fan of sweets but I’m really looking to going to Golosa’s physical shop and having the real deal. Flying Monkey’s cupcakes were also a standout. Thanks, as always, to Carrie for putting on such an amazing event!

I had a great time!!! :) All the desserts were sooo yummy! Me and my friend couldn’t stop eating them… that is until we saw the porno digital pictures on the wall. lol. But the cupcakes are delicious!
I also love the wine… and the hot bartender/​wine pourer… anybody know who he is? HAHA! ;x
Ananda — love their candles! It smells good! Omoi — that blue dress is nice! I wanna see more clothes! :)
But we all had a fab time, i wish i could buy those very nice detailed pillows! and they had my fave color blue! The hankercheifs are very beautiful as well. The furniture is very nice and antique. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely come here and buy some cute pillows and furniture! THANKS CARRIE! ;D

Area 919 is a really cool space and the Philly Unilocal team pulled out all the stops for this one. The fashion models were awesome! At first I thought I was just really under dressed but then realized at least some of the people were modelling.
Met lots of cool Unilocalers and had a fun night!

Area 919 is the perfect place for a Unilocal event. There were a couple different rooms with each room having a different theme as to not have everyone crowded in one place. The room with sweets was decorated with some of the most interesting pictures I’ve ever seen. It was definitely a treat to grab a cupcake and stare at the wall art. The bar was in a room with some awesome statues and awesome models as well. Great Job everyone for keeping the entertainment alive.
Area 919 has alot of vintage furniture for sale. They had everything from a $ 200 pillow to $ 7000 polar bear statues. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was something more expensive in the place but it was all really nice stuff.
I ended the night with a nice massage. It was truly heaven and best of all… it was free! HA! I really needed it. I asked the lady if I could take her home with me but she said no :(I would have paid her!
I look forward to the next Unilocal event. It was nice seeing everyone in person.

Good Fun! It was nice to get to know some more local business. Philly has so much to offer its hard to hit em all.
919 is a great space, I’ll definitly go back with a little less wine in my system to take a better look.

Last nights event was awesome! It was such an honor to get to model for the rest of the Unilocal Community! Thanks to Carrie for organizing the event, thank you Matthew Izzo for the great clothes, thanks to Michael for being our sound guy around speech time, thanks to Fabio for the fabulous chocolate drinks, thanks to Carly for the free hair style, and thanks to the owner of Area 919! Carrie outdid herself yet AGAIN!
I was asked to model at the event, and it was such a great time. Emily A of Cheekadee did the makeup, which was totally amazing. If I ever need it done for a special event, I will be calling her up. Olivia from the Fringe hair salon handled my tresses, and I discovered that my thin Swedish hair can actually hold an intricate style! Finally, the duds were from Matthew Izzo — and I definitely will be back there to actually purchase my modeling outfit — a comfy grey patterned/​Mod dress with matching light grey knit leggings.
I sipped on chardonnay all night and tried some of the desserts from Flying Monkey and Golosa — amazing. Area 919 was a perfect venue for the event — filled with all sorts of amazing furniture, photography, and sculptures.
It’s amazing how far the Elite events have come in 2008 — and I’m more than certain that 2009 is going to be even better.

what an absolutely decadent night! massages that melted your body, the best music ever (what, css? i love you!), fabulous drinks, and enough cupcakes that made my head spin in sugary heaven.
i got to model a fabulous (and well-​priced!) dress from smak parlor (and btw, i love that store!) and the girls at chroma and cheekadee made me feel like a total diva-​princess with my awesome curly high hair and tres tres cute makeup!
kudos to kevin for stopping by again for the dc, and calling us a way cool «bohemian» Unilocal community!

Thank you Carrie for working your butt off to give a ton o’ Holiday cheer to all of your Unilocalies. We love you for it.

I know that Carrie has a fondness for wine and cupcakes and it showed by the amount of sweet little yummies everywhere.
I am always floored by the growing crowds these events gather.

The space was great for this sort of event. The vendors did a GREAT job sexing up some of Unilocal finest. I had those Star Wars sheets in McThrill’s jacket as a kid and I am thinking I may be buying myself one more present for Christmas :)
The music was great as always, the wine was quite good (thank you first time bartender dude for hooking me up with the pint glass of white!), the cupcakes were wonderful too!

Carrie closed out the year with a bang. Great representation of some of Philly’s primere boutiques, salons and gourmet bakery/​chocolate shops.
I was floored by the sipping chocolates from Golosa. It’s like sipping (not drinking, because its so intense you have to sip it) the cakes from a Wayne Thiebaud painting.
Thanks to the brave Unilocalers who rocked the fashions. You all looked awesome (bonus points for Carrie!).
Thanks to Area 919 for the great space. It’s a really cool gallery and the adjoining furniture gallery, Baltzell, has some interesting antique furniture that I’m putting on my holiday list this year (hint, the black and red Chinese chest would look great in my office).
I can’t wait to see what Carrie has in store for us next year.

This really was a great event. The space was large and nice. There was plenty of room for all the participating vendors to be set up on top of the gallery’s installations, and still have enough room to move around from room to room and socialize.
There was a great blend of regulars and new faces. All the models did great striking poses on the main floor. It was great to get to see everyone before the end of the year. The mini cupcakes were tasty with great buttery icing. The shots of hot chocolate from Golosa were super decadent. It was like sipping the best fudge ever while examining some interesting visuals in the gallery. Hopping over to the other side of the gallery I sampled an energy drink called Sexy Italia that shocked me back out of the sugar coma from the afore mentioned hot chocolate shot. A large group of us then migrated around the corner to invade the new WineO bar. More on that adventure to come in the review of their establishment. All in all this was a great time.
Thanks again for Carrie, the Unilocal models, and all the vendors that helped pull this one off. Happy Holidays everyone!

Fantabulous. I had a great time at my first Philadelphia Unilocal Event — so eclectic! Massages and Photography and Cupcakes and Antiques and Wine, oh my! Everyone I saw getting a massage had a look of serenity on their faces, I = jealous. The baked goods were delightful, the space was awesome, and how great to get so many sponsors! All in all a resounding success.
And I’m with Lena N. I may have to visit Wine-​Oh and oggle that bartender some more. Yum.

Walking into Area 919, I was hit by the smell of expensive down pillows and surrounded by gorgeous furniture and other wares in rich colors. My friend and I perused the merchandise and made our way into the next room, which featured ceramic sculptures, some Unilocalers getting their model on and a bar. It was the third room, however, that made me the most happy~ CUPCAKES EVERYWHERE!!! I managed to abstain from the sugary confections, but simply being surrounded by cupcakes made me happy. The other thing that made me happy? McThrill’s bright red belt, which I would love to own but would never be able to rock quite like him!
I noticed many unfamiliar faces and some familiar ones. It is clear that the Unilocal community is alive and kicking!
Thank you, Carrie, for putting together so many nice events in ’08. May there be many more fun-​filled memories to be made in ’09!

Truly one amazing event! Delicious Boutique had me looking like more of a rockstar than I have ever looked before. The red Utility Belt (fanny pack my foot!) would have made Batman jealous if it had a grappling hook. The pants were pretty amazing even though the laces gave me a wardrobe malfunction for awhile (yes the tattoo boxers were mine). and How freaking awesome was that jacket? the force was very strong within it indeed! If anyone is looking to hook McThrill up this Christmas you know where to go :)
I didn’t dig into too many of the desserts, but Flying Monkey have always rocked my socks. the chocolate shots were decadent. and WineO provided some amazing wine. and the Sexy Itallia energy drinks were a sexy time in a can. The only thing that I sadly missed out on were the massages because I could have used one. D’oh!
Be sure to review Area 919 too because you certainly had a good look at what their artists space can offer. And that indoor Parthenon was easily the coolest room that I have ever been in. Carrie definitely ended 2008 with a bang. How is she topping it in 2009? I can’t wait to find out!
