He did an amazing job!!! I walked in having no idea what kind of frames I wanted. He showed me a bunch of different options that he thought would look best with my prints and painting and talked me through why he would recommend one over the other. When I got them back I was blown away! I couldn’t have asked for a better result. I would 100% recommend this place to any of my friends and family.

I walked into flying pig all distressed and confused over what i wanted, and they were so patient and helpful, going over all these variations of mat and frame. I finally found one i loved and they were done within a week!
I also love how they weren’t showing me all the beautiful, expensive frames because i told him i had a budget. Very respectful and easy to work with. I thought it was a decent price but some friends of mine considered it expensive. Don’t think they know how hard it is to do framing yourself. I appreciated the service.
Would recommend them to anyone in the area gladly!

Couldn’t be happier with my experience here. I took several meaningful pieces in and Donovan and Dan understood the vision immediately and I left even more excited about the images than when I went in. All my thumbs up to their keen eyes and artistry. Will definitely be back.

Don’t ever and I repeat ever go to the store for any framing needs. I walked into the store with two pictures that needed glass. The owner said I am sorry but I’m going to have to decline you today because you did not purchase the frames here. I have never experienced this type of treatment in Northern Liberties.

I recently had two large prints as well as 3 degrees framed here and am very satisfied with the results.
I had no idea what I was doing when I went in, as i had never actually had anything framed before. The guys who work in/​run the place are extremely helpful and worked with my taste and style.
It definitely cost some $ and took a few weeks but after shopping around, it seems about right and I am very pleased with the final outcome.

Whatever you are trying to accomplish with a frame, whether its super simple or over-​the-​top, it can be done (at a fair price) at Flying Pig Picture Frame. By now these guys have framed up about 4 – 5 prints for me and each time I am more and more impressed. I’ve gone the «I want to spend $ 60 max» route as well as the «let’s get crazy with this one» route and they kill it every time. They have always been transparent about timing, which is appreciated. If they are busy and it will take a month to get the job done, they’ll give you a head up before they take your money. And when they do let you know it’s time for a pick-​up, they send you a text! How great is that?! I’ll never get my prints framed anywhere else.

I am an opera singer that happen to have a lot of posters and art related to my work.
for years I was neglecting to frame anything since every place I was checking the prices were insane and the options quite bad.
After reading the reviews here and seeing some of the work done in pics I decided to give it a try. Dan was amazing, he took the time and the patience to listen what we wanted and matched everything to perfection. The prices were right and he even offer a free delivery since some pictures were really Huge.
The Job was promised between 4 – 6 weeks to be done, but by my surprise he called 3 weeks and half later and everything was done to perfection !!!
Definitely I recommend Dan and I shall continue doing business there for sure.

I had a comprehensively stellar experience with Flying Pig Picture Frames. After visiting several other shops around Philadelphia and being disappointed with framing selections and apathetic customer service I did a little more research and learned about FPPF here on Unilocal.I’m ever-​so-​glad for other Unilocalers recommendations because it brought me the opportunity to work with the fun, creative, thoughtful, talented and courteous folks at FPPF who immediately translated my mind’s eye vision into an even better than expected outcome for the two prints I brought in. I was seeking to have two differently-​sized cheese portrait prints by Philadelphia-​based artist Mike Geno put into complimentary frames that had a rustic, unique, but still vibrant feel to them. The shop had on-​hand several planks of beautiful salvaged barn wood from the Lancaster area whose hue, surface crackle, and natural marks of their former life such as a slightly rusted nail hole made a perfect pairing for the prints. They guys at FPPF made the entire process exciting and informative and the work was done on time and to the highest quality. I cannot recommend the artists and craftsman at Flying Pig Picture Frames highly enough. Don’t waste your money on satisfactory framing options elsewhere. Go big and go awesome with Flying Pig Picture Frames.

I’m a littl late with this review & its gonna be long.
End of summer 2014 I was searching for a certain kind of frame I thought already existed for a very specific idea I had to change the crap frame on a unique piece of art. During that search, for recycled tire picture frames, or some variation, I somehow stumbled across Dan at Flying Pig. That search gave me little else & I was especially delighted when it was for someone local to me in Philadelphia, YEAH!
I called and spoke with Donovan on a day Dan was out & he seemed equally mystified by the path that brought me there. I don’t think many people had called asking for recycled tire frames, though that’ll probably change.
A different day I went there with the art & spoke with Dan. Short conversation, plan & deposit later. I left it with him. He went about finding 4 tires that were the same size, with similar treads that he could bend to his will, mount & clean up to make my frame. It took 2 months (a month less than he thought, I might add). Cost a little money, as good diligent artists deserve & voila, it was done. SEE PICS.
I decided to pick it up on my birthday which happened to be a day Dan wasn’t in. The whole way there I tried to talk myself down saying: «Don’t have too high of an expectation, this is recycled and he has to bend it and mount it & that’s difficult & no way will they match up perfect so don’t expect that. You’re going for the juxtaposition at the best quality you can get it. Be prepared to be satisfied with the result!!»
Well wholly s!@#burgers it was/​is P E R F E C T I O N!!! Pics don’t do it justice but I friggin love love LOVE it! He made it look seamless, like 1 tire just cut in 4 pieces. Clean & clear. The rough edges on the inside & outside sparkle a little in a certain light where its hung. wish I could’ve captured it better cause that’s a cool littl bonus.
I tried for 2 weeks to get Dan on the phone to compliment him to tell him how incredible this work is, how I was happy to write many great reviews, once its hung & I had some pics to post. And here we are.
I also want to mention that going there, I find no less than 5 frames I want to buy immediately that I have no art for. lol Every single time. I like recycled & especially mixes of industrial-​type metal frames. they have an abundance. I literally can’t imagine ever using another framer for ANYTHING!!! man, I wish I had something to frame now. ~:(

My husband and I stumbled upon this gem by accident heading up 3^rd. We had our wedding picture and a piece of original art to frame and figured we’d stop in and get a quote (hate big box frame shops). The owner greeted us and helped us figure out the style that best suited us. His focus on American made and reclaimed products was something that really resonated with us, and from his stock of non-​generic frames, he found just the right matches. In 2 weeks both pieces were ready for pick-​up and looked amazing. We can’t get over how good they look. And the price… FAR less than anything I’ve had framed at both the big box guy and a different local frame shop. Extremely reasonable, particularly for what you get which is so much nicer and so much more original than anything another frame shop could have done.

No brainer this is the place in philly to go if you want framing done. If you want something cool and different, they have you covered. If you want something just done well and have zero idea how it’s done, this is also your place. They will walk you through it. Some of the custom work is pricey if it’s extreme but price-​wise, you can get absolute professionalism and exceptional customization for relatively cheap here. Framed a picture for my folks for Christmas and they knocked it out of the park with the cropping and framing.

Really liked Flying Pig Picture Frames. They have a large selection of great frames. I am particularly a fan of their frames made from reclaimed wood. The staff is very helpful with choosing the right frame for a piece. However, the frames are, in my opinion, pricey, and they took six weeks to frame a poster for me. I strongly recommend them, but suggest you be prepared for the prices and wait.

Dan was great at aiding me through the process of picking out the best frame to bring out the best in the print I had brought in. Prices were reasonable and was sent a text to notify me that my frame was ready. I will definitely be bringing all my future framing needs here!

This place is just grand. Recycled materials are prominent in their stock but also you can get brand new framing as well. I walked in looking to frame my (insert favorite band here) poster. I got that going but while I was browsing, also found a really cool ink drawing, and picked out an electric blue frame. Turns out, they have some interesting and affordable original art here as well. The staff helped me pick out a matting (hot pink) and it looked sharp as all get out. The communication was really great, they texted me when the items were ready. Professional quality and the people were cool. Keep up the great work, Flying Pig!

As soon as I walked in I knew I came to the right place! The staff are very creative and excited to help. My beautiful mushroom prints are even better now that they are uniquely framed. I look forward to bring them another project!

Love frame shops like this. The concept is great, it’s really trending now but I was given a brief tour of the shop and there really is a huge variety of frames to suit your needs. Most of what they specialize in is «upcycled» frames from other (sometimes unconventional) materials. They got me a fair price on a nice frame for a print I have. It was done in less than a week, that’s the tops!
Donovan and Jenny are super nice and both came into work during the blizzard cause they’re a couple of bad-​asses.

Jeni was great! i had no idea what to expect since it was my first time at a frame shop. I just knew I wanted them in frames, Jeni steered me in the right direction with colors and frames. The pictures look spectacular and i love it. I can’t wait to get some new prints and have them jazz them up! Oh and it was super quick and painless!

Need a poster framed? You needn’t look any further than this quaint little shop of radness on liberties walk. The owner Dan and everyone I’ve ever interacted with there have always treated me, my pictures and posters with the utmost respect and care. They know exactly what I’m looking for before I ask, they always help me find the most affordable option, and they’re just, well, great at what they do. KUDOS!

Why would someone living in New York City, take a special trip out to Philadelphia to get his art custom framed? Because Flying Pig Picture Frames is unlike any other custom framing shop I have ever been to.
I was put on to the shop after an artist who showed at my gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, had the most amazing frames on his photographs. I asked him about it, and he said his buddy Dan who had a custom frame shop had made the frames out of recycled wood that he had found during one of his many travels.
I think that is what appealed to me the most, the fact that they had so many vintage frames and frames with very unique wood. The best part was that frames were already pre made, and so many shapes and sizes that almost all of the 10 + items that I brought to be framed, I only had one piece that I had to make a custom frame for. This not only allowed me to have a great collection of cool frames it also saved me a bunch of money.
Jeni, was awesome to deal with! She was polite, really took her time, and was very thoughtful in helping me pick out a frame. As I am writing this, I am getting ready to make another trip down to Philly to get more of my art framed. I cannot give a better recommendation for this shop!

Custom framing is one of those things that you get when you hit a certain age. I fought it for the longest time because as soon as I got it I’d have to leave youthful shenanigans by the wayside but when boo got me a Brian Dawkins print and a Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent Stanley Cup print I knew that anything but the best would be disrespectful not only to those three gentleman but really to my fandom.
We arrived at Flying Pig a bit timid and a not really knowing what to expect. I showed the young lady working the prints and told her I wanted the Flyers matted in orange and the Dawkins matted in Eagles green. I picked out a pretty standard black frame and waited for the quote. Each was $ 75 I was shocked, I was fully expecting her to say $ 500 or some outrageous number. We then decided we’d get a poster my little brother found in a salvage garage in Fishtown (???) of the Please Touch Museum expo from the 80’s. It definitely had an eighties vibe to it sort of like the cover of the Miami Vice box set or the front of City View Apartments. It was yellow, pink, blue and orange and had several wooder stains and age marks on it.
We were shown several options, each had a cool back story of where it was from and we ended up choosing an aged reddish orange-​ish frame that was repurposed from a church in New Orleans, that’s pretty rad .
Flying Pig has opened up a whole new world of home decorating to me and as much as I love floating frames, the custom frames are so much better (please reference pictures).
