Gomo’s Nails

My favorite place to go for a mani/​pedi. I go down to Philly from Bethlehem to go here with any excuse I can find. The place is clean, the procedures come with massages, which are great; most of the staff is competent and the mani/​pedis are very good. Once in a great while I find myself with a technician who is not as good as the others… which is why I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5… my advice is to find someone you like and ask for her whenever you go… but don’t hesitate if you have not gone before… you will love this place!

Went here because of all the recent rave reviews on Unilocal.I guess it set my expectations too high. I thought the service was good and the price was reasonable. However, I would not give this place 4 stars.
I got a mani and pedi for $ 40. Made an appointment for Monday at 5pm. Got there at 4:40 and no one was in. I ended up with a Hispanic technician called Isabelle [SP?]. She barely spoke any English but did a scrupulous job on my feet. The hot stone calf massage and the foot massage was nice but only lasted maybe 4 minutes total. I asked her to make the water hotter during the pedicure but she didn’t understand me. For the manicure, I got a 1 minute hand massage and another 1 minute neck massage after she had shaped my nails and clipped my cuticle. Felt really good but again, short.
What I didn’t like was that my technician went rough with he cuticle pusher. I ended up getting a cut on my right pinky. It still hurts and still stings 3 days later! It was also weird that they asked me to pay first before I got my nails painted. The worst part about the experience was that everyone in the establishment was dead silent except for the owners that were playing on the iPads and the only tv that was there was put on some lame beauty infomercial channel. The whole atmosphere felt sorta tense. No one made any conversation. Also, I was not offered anything to drink.
The whole ordeal took maybe an hour and 15 minutes. My manicure was done with Essie and Opi Polish and it already chipped. I have to try gel next time. Overall, Isabelle did not do a bad job but I just didn’t feel relaxed or especially pampered from the experience.

Great experience. Full set of acrylics for $ 55, plus neck/​shoulder massage while nails were drying.

I came here twice in 2 days to repair my nails that kept breaking due to a previous nail salons work. The place is small and comfy and the staff is pretty friendly.
My issue is that they charged me $ 22 just to trim and re-​paint my nails and fix one while they charge $ 25 for an entire fill! That night another nail broke and I had to go back the next day for a repair. They charged me $ 13 for the repair plus tip! They said it was because I didn’t get a fill. So if I would have paid just $ 3 more for a fill I wouldn’t be charged $ 13 for the repair? Geez!
I won’t be coming back. I found a cute nail bar on the other side of the street that offers free wine, stay tuned for the next review!

New fav nail spot in CC. I would only really go M-​W when a mani/​pedi is $ 40. First of all, massage city. Extensive leg and foot massage during the pedi using lavender oils THEN a hot towel neck massage while your nails dry. WHAAT? I couldn’t believe it. They even clipped my hair up so it wouldn’t be in the way.
Give yourself some time when you go here. This isn’t a salon that rushes you in and out (ahem, Nail Spa Bar). When I went for my mani/​pedi I was there for nearly 2 (blissful) hours.
Tips:
— Call ahead or make an appointment. This is a nail salon that actually follows their appointment schedule, not just squeezes you in bc you claimed you made an appointment. I usually just call ahead to see if there’s a wait.
— Bring a few $$ for tip, they only will allow you to tip in cash.
— Try to book with Sally, she did an amazing job!
— Go M-​W for $ 25 pedi.
— Never look back.

The massage to my neck arms and head that came with the manicure was amazing. The stone massage to my legs with the pedicure, just as awesome.

I had a very nice pedi at Gomo’s on my lunch break today. The nail tech was super sweet and gave me a very deep calf massage. $ 25 pedi Monday through Wednesday. My feet look refreshed and ready for sandals.

I have been going here for years– used to see Julie but she left and now I see Sally– she is great! Every person in this salon is welcoming and really nice– not snotty like other places I have been in that area. Nails are always done evenly, she is nice to talk with and the massage is awesome!

I went to Gomo’s yesterday, and got a gel manicure/​pedicure. The service was outstanding; the lady (I don’t know her name) that took care of me really made me feel comfortable and gave me an amazing leg/​foot massage. When my nails were drying she also gave me a back massage, so I really felt pampered.
She gave me a membership card that I’ll definitely use. It’s my new «go to» place to get my nails done. Plus, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the pedicures are $ 25. You can’t beat that!

One of the most pathetic experiences of walking into a nails spa. I have been to a Gomo’s nails twice and first time I got a pedicure and the nail paint was coming off the very first day.
The second time I still committed the mistake of walking into this place for a gel French manicure. Now French manicure is one of the very basic services that a nails spa offers so I could not believe when the color quotes of French manicures bubbled out on my nails when I put them in the UV dryer. I was really upset and tried telling the girl who was doing my manicure and she called some other girl and they started discussing the situation. Now the new girl took hold of my hands and started over the French manicure and same bubbling thing happened the second time. So after spending one hour ten minutes in this place, my manicure was not done and I was horribly upset. Even after this, none of the people there offered any apology or tried to make me feel better. I simply asked them to stop and decided to walk out and they did nothing to compensate for their overly pathetic service.
I am never going to walk into this place ever again. I never write a bad review but the rude treatment I received compelled me to do so. Don’t visit gomo’s nails because I do not think they care to give you the best customer experience.

My favorite nail salon in Philly– and the only one I will go to! The girls make you feel comfortable & relaxed, they do an excellent job on both Pedi/​Mani. All of my girlfriends come here also, and we love it! Clean, friendly, great service, and they do a phenomenal job.

I received the best leg massage I ever received today from gomo nail salon — they took so much time with me and even used a hot stone.
My pedi looks absolutely perfect.
Again, very friendly and no wait.
This place is a hidden gem.

Came here for pedicure since mon-​wed is $ 25. As its price shows the service was a 25 bucks too. The pedicurist scrub and massaged my feet and legs… but you can feel its not real, she just literally touched the area and finished it sloppily.
My toe nails have uneven shape and the color fell out of the nail range… i would not recommend this place…

Calling all bartender! This is the place to go. I always feel so awkward and out of place every time I go to get my nails done. I am a working actress by day and bartender by night. So its safe to say my hands arnt the sexiest part about me. But I do need them to look nice for auditions. This was the first time I didn’t feel like an utter failure at being a girl. Within twenty min Sally had transformed my hands from those of an Australian rugbee player to soft feminine hands. Not only do my hands look great but she gives a killer massage and worked out several knots in my shoulders. I felt like a queen there. She even attempted to fill me in on what was being said in the salon. But working in a sushi place has me accustomed to not understanding idle chitchat. The French manicure cost me $ 20. I just can’t beat that in rittenhouse.

A great spot in the city. Prices are on par with others in the area, and service is great. Plenty of colors to choose from, and comfortable pedicure chairs. A nice stone massage during the pedicure, and shoulder massage after the manicure. Not to mention, my manicure stayed on way longer than usual! A huge plus.
Gomo’s isn’t anything fancy, but a perfect spot for a quick mani/​pedi! Will make this my go to spot.

just had my first experience at this great nail salon. I got a mani/​pedi for $ 45. I went on a tuesday so the pedicure was only $ 25. Sally was my nail technician. she is super sweet and she does such a great job. I will definitely be back.

— get the Gomo’s reward card if you’re planning on sticking with them! After 500 points you get a free manicure. After 600 points you get a free pedicure.

I don’t know why other people aren’t happy with the service here. I can NOT understand why anyone would give less then 4 – 5 stars for a well priced nail salon that gives a full arm/​hand/​back massage with each mani. I just cant.
The staff is SO super friendly… and they get even nicer as you become a regular. I come here weekly and everytime I walk in — they’re so welcoming. They also know that I take a long time to pick polish and they’re patient. The staff do an excellent job with mani’s and pedis. I have never gotten a wax here but im sure they’re amazing in that regard as well. There are women that have been coming here for years because of the reputation of this place and their quality. im sad I only found out about it 8 months ago!

I am always apprehensive of nail salons. I never feel like they are sanitary. This was no exception. In fact, I rarely get manicures and I had one two weeks prior so a «clean» experience was fresh in my head. I was in Philadelphia for a wedding and I figured I’d get my nails done! This nail salon was the perfect location across the street from the hotel where I was staying.
I walk in and they are able to take me right away for a manicure. I select my color and sit down in the chair they tell me to sit at. A few minutes later I am directed to another chair, at the end of the row toward the back of the room.
I guess it is hard to keep your nails looking nice when you are a manicurist because you are always dealing with nail polish remover, buffing, etc. The manicurist who i went to was HORRIBLE. First of all, her hands looked dirty. Nails were long and not kept nicely. She spent the entire time talking (in another language) to the other people who work there and I felt she did not pay me much attention. Then, when she was «massaging» my hand she scratched it with her long nail. I said OW!, took my hand away and showed her the red scratch line she left, and she said she did not scratch me. Needless to say, she finished the massage then and barely did the left hand. When she went to give me a neck massage, I cringed and said «No thank you!»
I paid for the manicure in advance, figuring I would just give the $ 5 change as tip. Based on my experience, I really did not want to leave a tip. However, I left the $ 5 on my lap so I could easily give it to her after the manicure and it would have been obvious that I intended on tipping her, but decided not to. I guess I’m a nice customer.
When I went to dry my nails, I noticed there was a little polish on my thumb (not nail). Once the nails finished drying, everybody was giving manicures except one woman standing toward the back who had been there the ENTIRE time I was getting a manicure, talking to the manicurists in their native language. I walked over to her to ask if she could remove the polish, assuming she was the manager, and she said she did not work there. She directed me to somebody else who could remove the nail polish. I could not get out of the parlor fast enough.
Two weeks later, I barely have any polish left on both my hands and it was starting to come off my nails that week. This manicure did not last and if I were in Philadelphia, I would NOT recommend them.

I have been going to Gomo for at least 7 years! The girls are always nice and sociable. The shop is very clean and fairly roomy for a nail salon.
I love Lisa and Anne, they both give the best massages! You can get a $ 25 pedicure Monday– Wednesday! The hot stone foot massage really hits the spot! My tired dogs need it after a day of running around in heels! I would recommend making a reservation, especially towards the end of the week.
Walk ins are welcome, however– BEWARE, even though they say ’10 minutes’- it could range from 15 – 30 minutes! But well worth the wait!
The best part is that it’s only a few blocks from my office!
HINT, if you are a regular you can purchase a points card for $ 5.00 and start saving your points towards a free mani or pedi or both! What a great treat! That is… until you realized that you have spent an ungodly amount of money on personal hygiene!
