I had a custom request to take apart my bed bring it upstairs and put it back together in my new room. I had Albert! He was great only took an hour when he was done there was one thing wrong I called him and he rushed back and fixed it in like 5 mins. My only issue is that I paid by the hour and I didn’t know how long that would take so I paid for 2 extra hours. Other than that he was on time and did what he had to do!

Yet again let down by Handy. I gave them another shot since I was going to be on vacation and it didn’t matter if they didn’t arrive right when we needed them to, since the last time I had problems with them it was because Handy cleaners kept canceling our booking a few hours before they were supposed to show. We had a booking a few weeks ago while on vacation and I returned to the apartment after the holiday to find the apartment entirely uncleaned. It doesn’t look like the cleaner ever even showed up.
After not hearing from her for about 30 mins, she finally texted saying she had arrived but I never heard from her after that. I have no confirmation that she ever cleaned, other than the fact that she told me she had. Handy makes it incredibly frustrating to get in touch with their customer service (they now have no way to reach a human over the phone.) so I’m trying to find a different cleaning service in Philadelphia. I’d highly recommend finding a cleaning service that’s more reliable, since Handy is unreliable and apparently can’t be held accountable for the one job you hire them for — cleaning.

I had Tianna for my first cleaning and she’ll be the one returning for a few future appointments as well. She did a great job, focused on my main concerns, cleaned all surface areas (and I could tell she moved items that were movable and cleaned under them!), and made sure all my needs were met before she left. She had a great personality too and felt like someone I could trust! As long as she is the one I have for future bookings, I definitely plan on continuing the service.

Can’t say enough good things! Anthony came and cleaned our apartment and did SUCH a thorough job. Amazing price, amazing job.

My initial review of Handy, giving it one star:
We just had our house cleaned the week prior but we wanted extra cleaning for my son’s birthday party. Brianna was scheduled for cleaning the day before the party. We wanted to make sure she was coming, and if so, she would not leave because of our dog. We also wanted to make sure that she would concentrate on our floors. We contacted Brianna via «chat» and «call» and left messages to confirm receipt, but she never contacted us until the day of her arrival. More importantly, Brianna cleaned our floors (on 3 levels, plus stairs) with undiluted murphy’s soap/​oil!!! We were shocked to find sticky, filmy floors with oil residue/​film and markings of a mop when we got home, and it took us 8 times to clean the floors before the party to get the gunk out!!! My husband and I had to mop with water several times first, and then had to steam clean. The gunk was still there. Then, my husband got on his hands and knees with a towel and water into the night and we then cleaned again the next day. This is the type of thing (not to clean wood floors with undiluted murphy’s oil) anyone who cleans for a living knows or should have known. And cleaning our floors well into the night and first thing next morning is certainly not what we had planned to do before the party, especially when we scheduled a cleaning. This took away our precious time and made the party planning that much more stressful. It was a complete waste of our time — and money. We won’t be using Handy again.

Based on the responses alone, which were timely, courteous, and professional, I am willing to give Handy another try. I was glad to learn that management was responsive to customer feedback and that it will review its policies with Brianna so as to avoid future avoidable mistakes. I shall see how well the next person cleans my house, but I am hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised given the representation that «only the top rated professionals» in my area will be cleaning my home from now on.

I’ve used handy for about 4 times now? Not all experiences have been the same, but all were good. I am especially pleased with the work that Charles. B does. I had actually requested for him for our last service because I was so happy the first time we had him. We weren’t able to stay the whole time he was cleaning, but once you walk into the house, it just smells lemony fresh clean and everything is spotless.

I waited until my second service to write my review so that I would have something to compare to. My first appointment was with Shauna H. and it was actually her first job as well. She was prompt to the exact minute! She came fully prepared and was attentive to what I needed. When she was getting near the end of her appointment time, she realized that she wasn’t going to be able to do everything I’d asked so she stayed a little longer. She had a wonderful personality and even left a very nice note for us (we had to step out before she was done). Our house was meticulously cleaned and fresh.
Today I had my second Handy appointment and it was quite different from the first. My service person didn’t seem as well-​equipped or concerned about what I needed done. Again, I couldn’t stay for the entire appointment time but when I returned home my whole house smelled like a sour rag, the tub wasn’t properly cleaned, and there was missed debris in many corners. My mop bucket was full of dirt and the mop head was very wet. Thankfully my husband came home and re-​mopped the floor so our home wouldn’t smell like an old dish rag but that pretty much defeats the purpose of having someone else clean your house doesn’t it?
Next time I’ll try to get Shauna again.

I’ve tried Handy for a few months with mixed reviews. My first cleaning was awful — dust was still on the counters, the baseboards were dirty, and it was clear the the cleaner cleaned around my stuff on my counter tops/​coffee tables, etc. instead of under them. I tried handy again, and found a fantastic cleaner — very thorough and I was very happy. She came twice and I was sold. Since then, I’ve tried requesting her and the request never goes through and I am always assigned a new cleaner. Not sure if she’s not working, or if Handy’s request system is just a way to make you feel like you’re requesting but really you get who they assign you. I’ve had two cleaners come since then — one NEVER showed, never called or responded to my reaching out (this was particularly annoying because I attempted to reschedule the appointment and the app had a glitch so I had to change my entire schedule for the day to wait for this person that never even bothered to tell me she wasn’t coming). When I reported this, Handy gave me a measly $ 29 … to me, this would warrant at LEAST a free cleaning for me to come back. I decided to use the credit and try again — attempted to request my preferred cleaner, got someone else, and it was basically the same experience as the first cleaner. My counters were NOT clean (dust in the bedrooms, and some grime in the kitchen), and not even sure the carpets were vacuumed even though she asked me explicitly if she should bring a vacuum.
Personally, I most likely won’t be using Handy again unless I get in a bind a need a quick cleaning. I think the service is inconsistent — if you get someone you like, try to hold on to them! Otherwise, you’re walking in the dark and hoping for the best.

This is the absolute worst company! I paid for 4 hours of cleaning service, and extra for inside the over and window cleaning, making the total time 5 hours.
They used some kind of solution on my marble counter tops that left a sticky residue (I had to wipe it down twice with water). They also used either the same or a similar solution on my wood floors that left the same residue, making the floors look dull. I’ve wiped down the floors twice now (my rags were still really brown, so they didn’t even do that great of a job cleaning!), but the floors still look dull.
I paid extra for the oven and windows to be cleaned. Oven was, windows were not.
Now here’s what I’m livid about, they left a gigantic gash on my wood floors. The cleaner has confirmed its wheel marks (I’m assuming from the cart she used to carry the supplies). I cannot get a hold of anyone. I’ve filed a claim. STILL NO ANSWER. The mark is in the middle of the living room floor. I tried wiping multiple times. It’s still there.
Cleaner offered to come buff it with a machine, but there’s no way I’m letting her near my floors again. We have original hardwood floors that have been stained a chocolate color. Buffing it will just strip the stain, potentially forcing us to sand and re-​stain the entire floor.
I want to hear from the company on how they plan to compensate for this. My floors are ruined. I’ve uploaded pictures of a section of the gash on my floors.
My advice is to stay away, unless you can be home to watch them clean.

This is the worst company I have used in the past year. They either come late or never show up, except for the ones that actually care about their job. A few times the ladies have either canceled or not shown up. We recently moved and I decided to give them a chance. I scheduled a 12pm appointment and at 12:30 I noticed the lady was not here. I called her phone and she told me the company didn’t provide her with the full address info or my phone number. I told her I had her information, so I don’t understand. I tried to call the 888 number, it asked me to go to the app and file a complaint there and someone would call me back. No surprise there, I have not received a phone call yet. I did get a strange text message to let me know my cleaning was completed and to rate the lady that never came. Never will I use this company again.

Service was pretty terrible. I only asked for my kitchen, living room, and two bathrooms to be cleaned and it looks like nothing was done. My cleaner first started with the kitchen, she cleaned the dishes and that was basically it. I could’ve gotten a dog to lick clean the dishes, for free! Did not clean the microwave or the refrigerator (which I paid extra for). She then went into our powder room. She did a good job with the sink, somewhat cleaned the toilet, and did not clean the floor. Same went for the full bathroom. She did a good job with the sink and toilet but never cleaned the shower, tub, or floors. Lastly she vacuumed the living room rug and wiped the table, but I barely saw any difference.
To sum it up, I paid to have 4 rooms cleaned for 2.5 hours. Every room was barely taken care of and what I paid extra for was never cleaned. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars is because they arrived promptly at the time of my appointment time. It’s pretty sad when that’s the only thing I enjoyed about this service. Don’t even bother booking with this business.

I used Handy in NYC several times and it was very good so I didn’t have any qualms paying in Philadelphia. The service in this city, however, is extremely spotty. One cleaner (Dontae) I had was great, but, most recently, I booked a different cleaner for a 2 hour appointment in a 350 sq foot studio and, in addition to being terrible at cleaning, the new cleaner did not even get to my living area.
The «professional» came 10 minutes late, used my cleaning supplies, and spent 1.5 hours cleaning my bathroom and my kitchen (my bathroom is 10×10, at best and my «kitchen» –if you can call it that– is smaller). With thirty minutes left, she asked me what she should be doing when there was still visible dust on my apartment floors from the broom she used. I had to give her specific instructions the entire time regarding which areas to clean. In addition, she attempted to do the dishes, but they are pretty much worse off than when they started. At one point she used a sponge to wipe down a dusty cabinet and then wrung out the dirty water on top of my dishes (pretty gross). I ended up rewashing all of my dishes, wiping down the floors, and rewiping down all the mirrors/​windows.
Obviously I’m pretty disappointed, I guess you can’t really expect the same level of quality across different cities.
TLDR:
— First cleaning was good, second cleaning was god awful.
— Service is not the same as NYC.
— Would not book again.

Do not use this company. They will take your money and never send anyone to clean your house. They didn’t even bother to cancel the appointment, the «professional» just didn’t show up. I’m beyond aggravated at this point. I basically just threw away $ 120 that I’m sure I will never see again.
Also for those of your looking for the phone number, they must purposefully hide it because I’m sure they have so many complaints. The number is 888−416−4209. Not that it helps, because their support line is only available Monday-​Friday, which does nothing for those of us who scheduled cleanings on the weekend.

I had a terrible experience with
(very poor cleaning, was told I would get a full refund which never materialized, emails gone completely unanswered). Thus I don’t want their services anymore but unfortunately when you sign up they force you to chose a cleaning rotation (every 1 week, 2 weeks, etc). They make it IMPOSSIBLE to cancel a «regularly scheduled cleaning.» When you go through their Help section it just directs you back to your profile page where they claim you can cancel it but it does not show up on the screen anywhere. I’m assuming they make it impossible so I will conveniently forget to cancel it and then a cleaner can show up at my house, I won’t be there and they can them charge me for a «missed appointment.» This is a shady business practice and after all the bad press they have gotten I should hope this would be added to the list.
Tell all far and wide to avoid this company.

Holding hope for a replacement cleaner! I had a scheduled cleaning for today (Friday) at 9am which was accepted and confirmed. It was even confirmed at 7am. At 931 am I texted my cleaner to find out status as they were already late and found out 3 minutes later that they were canceling and could not come until Sunday.
This is completely unacceptable as the only reason that I hired this service was to clean my household prior to a party which is being held on Saturday.
If first impressions are the most important Handy has failed. It is unfortunate because I planned on having biweekly cleaning performed on my house moving forward. I guess you get what you pay for.
I will be looking elsewhere for cleaning. As this situation has put my family in a bad bind.

The first room that was cleaned (the guest bathroom) was a disaster, so much so that I thought about just telling him to leave and I’d do it myself. The cleaner left the removable shower head in the floor outside of the bathtub and turned on the water letting water build up on the tile floor and spread into the wood in the guest bedroom. There was so much water that it was leaking into the apartment below me! The building manager came up to see what the issue was and now they are worried there may be damage to the wood because water got under it. The cleaner took his time with one small sponge mop to get it up until I came in to supervise. This will potentially cost me hundreds of dollars in security deposit. Then instead of apologizing he told me that if he spent too much time on the water he wouldn’t be able to finish in the 2.5 hours I booked.
Overall terrible experience. Would not recommend or use again.

Please people, PLEASE, spare yourselves. This company is despicable — DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO.
I signed up for a deal and had a cleaner come. I gave specific instructions to focus solely on the kitchen and bathrooms, but the cleaner instead focused on the easy things. She took more cigarette breaks than cleaning time and left a full half hour early. She walked around the apartment with a squeeze bottle of some sort of (presumably) cleaning liquid and a swifer. I swifer, I pay people to do more than that.
I went to the support page to complain — no option to do so — so i took to Twitter, no response. Went on and cancelled my recurring bookings, or so I thought, was fine for about two months until I received an $ 87 charge on my credit card. Called them to let them know that I didn’t schedule the appointment or receive the cleaning, they said they would submit a request to have it addressed. I called back a few weeks later (the number is 888−847−6036 in case you need it) and they told me, sorry the request had been denied.
Apparently the website only cancels one booking, not all of them and you need to call to cancel — SUPER SHADY. The one good thing is they are rolling out changes to actually tell you this on the website since tons of people have been having this problem.
