Worst customer service imaginable. Ignoring your clients is the lowest level of service a business can provide. They don’t return phone calls or emails (I’m talking in July– not in April. That would at least be understandable.) When trusting someone with your finances, we expect someone who cares… which is why we chose a smaller Manayunk firm instead of one of the big Philly firms. Somehow, there seems to be no regard for customer care or personalized service… or any service for that matter. Since it seems clear the JEM&Assoc and our «accountant» Brian seem not to value our business in the slightest, we will be taking our business elsewhere. I don’t have time to chase people who I am paying to do a service for myself and my family.
If you need further clarification of the situation, it’s been almost a month since my first email, a week since my follow up email asking if he had an alternative preferred method of communication, and three days since I called his office and left a message. We had to file an extension, so we are-​in fact-​working under a deadline.
This isn’t the first time we’ve been disappointed with their professionalism… but it will be the last.

I went to John E McGovern and Associates to file my taxes in 2013, and I had a pleasant experience. Generally, I find it difficult to find a tax filing place that isn’t HR Block, Liberty Tax or anything else that’s a big chain. I find they give you minimal attention and charge a lot.
We sat with a really nice guy named Carlo who took his time on mine and my boyfriend’s taxes. The best part … it was $ 250 each. He gave us advice on ways to save more for the upcoming year and had an overall good demeanor.
I would definitely recommend this place. I’m making an appointment to go back for my 2014 taxes!

I’ve been going to McGovern & Associates for years for business accounting. I couldn’t say better things about them…
Having used several different accountants over the years, McGovern & Associates is by far the best. Their knowledge and advice is beyond compare. Their rates are reasonable and they do an accurate and efficient tax prep… The best I’ve encountered.
I wouldn’t think twice in recommending this company.
