Lovely Bride

I had the most wonderful experience finding my wedding dress at Lovely this past January. And I was so thrilled to come back again recently to pick up my dress!
I would particularly like to thank my consultant Amber. She listened to my hopes for the dress and then used her knowledge and expertise to bring my vision to life. When I came back to the shop to pick up my dress, she remembered details about my life and my fiancé I had shared with her months before. It was obvious she loves her job and loves working with brides. She was incredibly thoughtful, kind, professional, and helpful throughout the process.
I highly recommend Lovely to all brides! Thank you!

I mentioned that I was looking to spend $ 1000 or under, and the saleswoman immediately told me that they start at $ 1500. They were very nice, but from that moment on, I felt like I didn’t belong there (and they were probably thinking the same thing). I tried on a lot of dresses, some of which were over $ 1600, and I was really surprised that I didn’t like any of the dresses they showed me. I realize now that you should always call and ask the salon what their price range is over the phone (it’s rarely online, and online estimates are often inaccurate anyway) before scheduling an appointment. This is probably a great place to go if you have a higher budget.

I came to Lovely Bride for sample gowns, as my wedding date was coming up shortly. The consultant, Julie, was very attentive and patient as I described my dress fiasco (bought one, major regrets, non-​refundable, not looking forward to wedding day). From my clumsy explanation to what I thought I’d want in this new dress, Julia picked out styles within my price range that were decent. Unfortunately, the sample dress that I did really like, was damaged in areas that would be very difficult to correct, so didn’t end up with a gown from there. Pretty dresses though.

Lovely Bride had a lovely (no pun intended) selection of dresses. But I was extremely disappointed, as my consultant refused to let me look through the dresses myself. The appointment was extremely rushed as well. The overall experience was not as enjoyable as I would have liked.

I went to Lovely Bride a few weeks ago and tried on what seemed like their entire inventory. Although I ultimately did not end up finding the perfect dress for me, it was such a nice experience. Maya assisted me and she was so patient and kind throughout the whole process. I do not like clothes shopping but she made it so much easier. Ivy, the owner, was so sweet and the whole staff was really friendly. I recommend going there and having a similar experience. They have very unique dresses that are for the kind of girl who is looking for something a little different while still staying classy and elegant. My future mother-​in-​law and sister-​in-​law ended up getting me a hair piece from there and I am really excited to wear it!

I cannot recommend Lovely Bride highly enough!
I was not looking forward to going dress shopping. It seemed like it was going to be a stressful, superficial, demoralizing experience.
Lovely Bride Philly really made dress buying a positive experience for the following reasons:
1. They had BEAUTIFUL dresses *AND* in my price point. Most importantly, they had many «nontraditional» wedding dresses. I did not want a big, froufrou wedding dress (which they did have some of if you were interested), but they had a large selection of less fussy, vintage-​y and unique gowns. Their dresses were really wonderful.
2. The saleswoman was amazing! She was not pushy AT ALL, and did not make me feel like I had to buy something. She did not tell me silly stuff like the other stores did where they praise how something looks even though it obviously looks ridiculous.
The saleswomen at the other stores I went to kept telling me cheesy (and stressful!) things like, «This is the most important thing you buy in your life!» The saleswoman at Lovely Bride Philly was low key, honest and kind.
3. It was easy to make an appointment, and all of their other customer service was impeccable. My mom lives thousands of miles away and was not able to come to Philly to help me find a dress, and they were very understanding when I asked them if I could FaceTime with her during the appointment. A few months later when my mom was able to come into town (but before my dress came in), they also let me come back and try on the dress (even though I had already bought it) so she could see it before my wedding day. Thank you, Aleza!
I contacted them about a makeup artist recommendation, and they promptly responded with some suggested vendors.
I also bought my earrings here, and they were very helpful throughout that process as well.
4. The salon itself is simple, calming and pretty. It was not tacky and covered in cheesy pictures. The room was private which I really appreciated.
By far, Lovely Bride was the best wedding dress salon I went to. Don’t make an appointment anywhere else, just get your booty to Lovely Bride!

Ivy and the girls at Lovely Bride helped to make my wedding dreams come true! Lovely Bride is the perfect place for girls who want a wedding dress that is unique and memorable. There are no cookie cutter dresses there.
The first time I went to Lovely Bride, I was at my wit’s end and was close to being resigned to picking something I didn’t love at another bridal boutique. Tess (who has since moved) let me pick the first set of dresses we tried on, and after those didn’t wow me, she stepped out and brought more dresses in — these were dresses that I wouldn’t have necessarily picked out myself by seeing them hanging on the rack, but I was open to anything. Finally, I tried on the last one — a gorgeous beaded Theia Lillia gown — and it was magic. I felt so special in it, and it fit me so well. I wasn’t ready to sign the dotted line that day, but I walked home from Old City that day in a dreamlike state, knowing that I had found my dress. I returned a week later with more girlfriends and Ivy brought out The Gown again, and incorporated a couple other of my favorites into the rotation. She patiently went through the trying-​on process again, and let me come to the (obvious) conclusion on my own that that was the dress for me! At the end, she exclaimed, «We’ve been waiting for you to pick this dress this whole time!» Haha. The best part is that during my original fitting, Tess brought out a detachable skirt that really sealed the deal and made this BEYOND the dress of my dreams. Additionally, I also got a beautiful set of earrings from Lovely at a separate accessories appointment — they were so unique and matched perfectly with my dress.
I got married two weeks ago. Among the many, many amazing details and feelings from my perfect wedding day, I will always remember how much I loved my wedding dress. I got so many compliments, and I felt amazing the entire day. Thank you to Ivy and Lovely Bride — I wish they were a separate non-​wedding boutique as well because their style is just so perfect; I would wear anything from this store :)

From the moment I walked in, I knew I would find my gown here and it just so happens I did! I couldn’t be happier. They had just what I was looking for in terms of style. Mia who was fitting me, knew exactly what I was going for and was a blast to work with! She made me feel comfortable and beautiful.
Their selection of designers is great especially if you are going for something boho, gypsy or even Gatsby inspired. They have beautiful lace and beaded options. The price points were not so extreme either. Although I did go over budget, it was a gown and designer I’ve had my eye on for many months and it just so happens I came to the right place at the right time!

Had such a great experience today at Lovely Philly I downloaded Unilocal just to leave this review! My friends and I had just come from a 2 hour appt at another store and were a little lost. From the moment Maya greeted us and walked us back to the room we knew this was going to be a great experience. The store was beautiful and felt way more my style than a typical bridal shop. I showed a few pictures and within 5 minutes she had pulled no less than 10 perfect dresses. Others on the team stopped in and added their opinion. Made me feel very special and were really in touch with what worked well, what I liked, etc. Found my dress and had a GREAT EXPERIENCE. Excited to go back and will be sending friends their way for sure!

I typically don’t write Unilocal reviews, but after visiting Lovely Bride in November for my sister’s bridal dress appointment I felt like I had to. The service is arrogant, unfriendly and downright unpleasant.
As a bride, you dream about many exciting things that come along with planning a wedding, one of the biggest being the day you try on dresses. You want to feel beautiful and treated like a princess more or less throughout the process. That is NOT the experience Lovely Bride (Philadelphia) delivers.
From the moment we walked in the door, we were turned off. The two consultants assigned to my sister’s appointment were completely unfriendly and I’d like to say less than excited. While the front of the store is absolutely stunning, the changing room area we were ushered into in the back was cramped and less than bridal. As my sister’s MOH, she asked me to be there on this day to help her select gowns that reflected her sense of style. I was asked to remain seated in the dressing room while the consultants took her through the range of dresses. They do not allow friends/​family to help. And while the dresses are a range of tattered samples hanging openly on racks on the floor, you’re not allowed to touch them. My mother was rudely scolded for attempting to show my sister a dress. (Side note: I totally understand the concept of a full service salon. As a bride getting married this year as well, I got that experience at Saks Fifth Avenue Bridal in NY. The dresses in a proper full-​service salon are neatly arranged and stored in back rooms. Lovely Bride is not a full-​service salon. And if they aspire to be, they should likely work harder on the «service» aspect of that business model.)
The consultants selected several dresses my sister told them she was absolutely not interested (this is why you let your MOH help) and when she found a few she did like, she was told by them that she shouldn’t try those on as they wouldn’t «work for her». My sister has an incredible figure so I can’t imagine how that could ever be possible. She had to convince sales people to let her try on dresses she liked.
Needless to say, despite some of the beautiful dresses they offer my sister did not purchase her dress there.
Having been to Vera Wang among other designer and high-​end salons to try on wedding gowns myself, I can tell you that Lovely Bride is just not even close to on par. Their ego far outweighs their product. Vera Wang let me try on a dresses $ 10k over my budget just for fun, as well as the dress Kate Hudson wore in «Bride Wars» (yes they still sell it!), sip champagne while wearing it, and have my mother and sisters basically capture a small photo shoot. THIS is the kind of experience you want as a bride.
In the end, Lovely Bride (Philly) has much work to do to live up to its name.

Like many others, I discovered LB from Unilocal and really want to have a great wedding dress experience. I didn’t want to overwhelm myself by going to too many places during my first dress trial, so I chose 2 types of stores: something more generic (Alfred Angelo’s) and a boutique (Lovely).
First impression when we arrived was not great. LB’s appointment only and the girl who opened the door for us wasn’t friendly, no one greeted/​acknowledged us, even just to let us know they were running a bit behind schedule. This dampened the mood a bit and the main reason they lost a star.
The store itself was well maintained, clean, and had a sweet homey feel compared to something like a David’s Bridal or Alfred Angelo. Prices here are a bit higher with most dresses being $ 1300+. IMO, the prices were worth it based on the quality, uniqueness, and experience overall. They have all types of accessories there to help you better envision what you might look like that day, which was super helpful.
My consultant was super friendly and attentive to what I liked, again a huge contrast from my experience at Alfred Angelo. I tried on 5 – 6 dresses and fell in love with the first dress I tried on. Since this was the second store, I was skeptical that I’d find my dress so quickly! After this experience, I continued to a few more stores over the next few weeks and wasn’t able to find anything I loved more than the Ivy & Aster dress that I ended buying.
My consultant (can’t remember her name) and their responsiveness to questions after the appointment made up for the initial experience. I got married in September and received so many compliments on my wedding dress! I wish I could wear it everyday… or at least once in a while?

I went to Lovely Bride after seeing their reviews on Unilocal — I have to say, this was SUCH a beautiful store. When I first walked in, I was a bit wary because it didn’t look like «typical wedding dress store» where dresses are stuffed in plastic bags in overwhelming numbers. The store was organized, sweet, and very well laid out.
I worked with Ivy, the store owner, who was beyond fantastic, and as a petite bride, she understood my concerns and needs for a tailored wedding dress. The appointment was about 1.5 hours, Ivy let me look through the racks, pick out my own dresses, and pulled some she thought I would look good in.
I have a hard time making a decision, and Ivy never rushed me! She let me try on the dresses again and again and took my measurements if I wanted to make a decision over the phone. I didn’t end up getting my dress at Lovely, but I would (and have) recommend this store to ALL brides!
There’s street parking all around (but it’s philly!) Also-​a parking lot right around the corner!

I want to say first off that I came here as part of the bridal party for my friend’s first experience on her wedding dress hunt. I think it was the perfect place for her to begin her search!
We had a 10 am appointment and they let us in promptly. The bride showed her consultant some pictures she had of dresses that she really liked. Immediately the consult knew the designer of some of her dresses and went and pulled some from the pictures and some that she thought she would like.
Can I tell you how floored we all were with the consultant’s ability to instantly know my friend’s style? She pulled about 6 dresses and I could honestly see my friend in any of them.
I don’t think this place carries an ugly dress. And the fabrics are just amazing.
Since it was only our first stop, we don’t know if she found «the one» there, but there is definitely a very strong contender and I know she has plans to go back.
When my time comes, this is definitely a place I will be checking out.

Great here! My consultant was knowledge and patient, no pressure to buy. The store is beautiful and well stocked with a variety of dresses.

Just purchased my dress from Lovely Bride! My consultant’s name was Kate, and she was wonderful. While she listened to what I asked for, she also encouraged me to try on different things. At first I was a bit wary of the dresses she was asking me to try on, but in the end, I purchased a dress that I thought I wouldn’t like! I can’t say enough good things about Kate. She was down to earth, funny, and just generally personable. She made the experience a piece of cake. Thanks Kate!
A few things about the store: you can park right on the street FYI. You are allowed to take pictures in the dresses, and if you decide to purchase, it’s 50% down. They don’t do alterations at the store, but they have recommendations for places near by. You do change in the same room as your guests, but there are curtains to cover you while changing. Overall, it’s a cute shop!

Visited Lovely Bride this past weekend with my sister and Tia Grace who was visiting us from CA. My sister is the bride-​to-​be and during the weekend our small group traversed PA visiting a total of six bridal salons in three days. Lovely Bride was hands-​down the most disappointing and, honestly, depressing experience — ONE STAR all the way. The additional star is simply due to the fact the salon has beautiful gowns and ultimately led my sister to the designer of «the» dress (which was purposefully NOT purchased here).
Lovely Bride was the final salon scheduled for the «wedding dress shopping» extravaganza but our experience was so awful that, upon exiting, I immediately called an additional salon to inquire about a last minute appointment. Very, and truly, disheartening. We simply could not let our experience at Lovely Bride serve as the final memory in an otherwise amazing weekend.
Shopping for a bridal gown should be a joyous and wonderful experience, afterall, the bride is looking for «the outfit» to wear on what will likely be one of the most memorable days of her life. Lovely Bride does not seem to understand this concept. After waiting 10 – 15 minutes past our appointment, the stylist (who I will not name) rushed my sister through the entire appointment with a rude attitude and overall «I don’t care» mentality. The stylist appeared to be on auto-​pilot throughout the brief appointment and did not offer suggestions, recommendations — anything! Given our amazing experiences with Philly Bride, Sposabella and Nicole Miller Manayunk, I would never recommend Lovely Bride.

Lovely bride is a wonderful salon. They facility is clean and organized. The fitting rooms are large and comfortable. The lighting is really great.
I thought the service here was one of the best out of the five other bridal salons I went to. Aleza walked me thorough the bridal gown selection to get familiar with my taste, she always helped me in and out of each dress, she clipped me in appropriately, and she was very attentive.
Though I didn’t buy my dress here, there were plenty to choose from. My second choice was from here and it was an Ivy and Aster dress made specifically for Lovely.
I would definitely recommend this place to any bride to be!

I just picked up my dress! It’s as beautiful as I remember it, and I had a great experience with their customer service. For both the initial consultation and my pickup, I was assigned to Julie.
Despite my usual shopping preference of flying solo, I had to bring along a whole slew of women. I think Julie could tell we were among strong opinions and that I was uncomfortable, so I really appreciated the first step of walking out into the studio area with just us two. She asked me for my price range, and showed me different styles to gauge my preferences. She immediately picked up on what I liked, and we eventually narrowed it down to four.
The dresses varied in price range, but there was absolutely no pressure to upsell me anything. It came between a Nicole Miller and a Theia, and it was hard to decide with my party making comments. Julie took me out into the studio area again to see what I actually wanted. I really, really appreciated that. Ladies, shopping for ourselves with all our insecurities is hard enough, never mind the tremendous pressure of a wedding and the price tag.
In the end, I caved to the pressure of walking away, but you bet yo’ ass I called 48 hours to order the Theia. And it looks fabulous.
I should also note I’m a street size 12, and the thought of wedding dress shopping with all the sample sizes was terrifying. These guys do a great and gracious job of carefully tucking you in with panels, smoothing things out, and making it look as close to a well-​fitting dress as possible. No body snark, no judgement.
Last compliment – I had to get in and out of the salon in 20 minutes for my pickup, and Julie managed to get me in the dress, sign my paperwork, and try on two veils. They’re great, I cannot speak highly enough! Thanks, Lovely!

I had a wonderful time at Lovely. I was visiting from Chicago and thought I would make an appointment to compare dressees back home. Alexa was beyond welcoming and helpful. I was her last appointment and she was energetic and positive. She did not rush me and kept giving me options. I found one dress that I ultimately loved!

Lovely Bride was the first bridal salon I went to, and I almost regret that because the other stores I went to were so disappointing in comparison!
The service was great. My consultant, Aleza, asked me about my wedding and what sorts of dresses I liked, and when we walked around looking at the dresses she made suggestions. Then, as I tried on dresses, she made adjustments to what she had me try on according to what I liked and disliked. She definitely listened and I felt like we were on the same page. When I tried on the dresses, she took care to clip them properly so that everything was aligned and I could get a sense of how the dress would look in the proper size. (As I said, I was spoiled by going here first. The other places clipped in a much more haphazard way.) I didn’t feel pressured at all (either of the two visits) to make a purchase. Also, they let you take pictures and give you the name of the designer and dress so that you can think about it with a clear head if you’d like.
The selection was great and definitely different than the other shops. They have many dresses with an indie/​modcloth/​romantic/​demure type of vibe (they also have other styles but that’s what I paid attention to). I went to two other stores (Bijou and Nordstrom Bridal) that had nothing that I liked. I came back to Lovely to buy my dress.
As for prices – I think everything I tried on was between $ 1600 – 2500. They told me that they have about 15 full length gowns under $ 1500.
I definitely recommend Lovely Bride, especially if the aforementioned styles appeal to you or if you’re having trouble finding dresses in your style at the other stores.
