This the probably the ONLY dive bar that will ever get five stars from me. Let’s face the facts here… This bar is not known for its décor, atmosphere, location or clientele. Period. This bar has one motive and one only… And that’s to get you drunk within two drinks. No exaggeration.
I’ve been a patron here for over ten years. Because of the neighborhood, it’s been known for some violent mishaps. The bar hasn’t changed much but the nuisance factor has calmed down over the years, thankfully. I’ve never encountered any of it and pray I never will.
It’s been known as The Bus Stop, Flamingos and Buffys. Now it’s Mr Chicken and Bernice’s. Those are the owners. They serve your typical soul food in the back and have some of the thickest cut fries I’ve ever seen in life.
Onto the damn drinks! They OVERPOUR like a mutha. No lie. I took my boyfriend, Luis there a week ago and I just told him to watch her pour. His eyes literally popped out of his head. Lmao. All the bartenders pour the same way. Into pint glasses or oversized wine glasses. Easily 5.5 to 6 shots in each glass. Luis said «babe, where is the juice going?». I said I have no goddamn clue but drink up. All drinks are around the same price. $ 6-​$ 6.50. Ask for Rhonda, she bartends after 8.30 pm every Wednesday and Friday night!
