History

Established in 1976.

The museum was established in 1976 as a part of the Congregation Mikveh Israel. In November 2010 the museum moved to its current location on 5th and Market streets.

Meet the Manager

Ivy B.

Manager

Ivy L. Barsky is the Gwen Goodman Director/​CEO of the National Museum of American Jewish History, Philadelphia. Ms. Barsky oversaw a strategic planning, re-​branding initiative, an evaluation of the Museum’s core exhibition, and has launched a series of special exhibitions in her first year. She was the Deputy Director of the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, NY (1999 – 2011). Prior to MJH, Barsky spent a decade in art galleries and museums. She was a professor of Museum Studies at NYU.
