Nora’s Food Cart

This is a solid food truck with nice guys working inside. Essentially, there are a variety of meats served with beans over rice. What makes them stand out is the different sauces that you can use to customize your meal. The majority of options are only $ 5 and include a soda (or bottle of water) — a good deal for sure.
I ordered calabacitas (sautéed peppers, squash, and onions) and asked the owner what his favorite sauce was for my rice and veggies. He asked if I could handle hear (I can), and he suggested tomato chipotle with the avocado sauce. It turned out delicious, and the portion was very generous.
Although this was my first time at this truck, the people in line in front of me were on a first name basis with the owner so it definitely has a following. I may be on a first name basis with them in the near future.

Solid food truck with good variety and plenty of sauce options to customize an order to your particular tastes. The only reasons for the 4 star review are due to the bean option, which seems more like a canned BBQ variation, and the default amount of sauce can be thin. This makes for a dry meal if you don’t ask for extra.
Their strengths are in the grilled meats. All types are flavorful and plentiful in platter selections. For $ 5, it has to be one of the best values anywhere in University City. I’m there at least once a week and will continue that trend for the foreseeable future. Guys working there are considerate and very enthusiastic, even while grilling food inside of truck when it’s 95* outside. That takes patience I simply don’t have, so kudos to them for great service.

Best chicken over rice on campus! I had this for the first time a few days ago (upon the recommendation of quite a few of my friends, who raved about it). Compared to other food trucks around the area, I thought the chicken was tender, juicy, and not too over-​seasoned. I didn’t think there was anything special about the salad, rice, or beans, though. Loved the variety of sauces they offer. I tried my order with avocado and chipotle (they were out of their special sauce), and it was great. I’ve also heard good things about their teriyaki sauce.
Great food truck option if you’re looking for something to eat for lunch. The line gets a little long sometimes, but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Chicken over rice is the way to go, it’s their most popular order and you can’t really go wrong. The meat is chunky and tender, and it’s served over a bed of warm, soft rice and beans. If I have one complaint, it’s that the rice is almost too soft. Nora’s portions are generous and each plate is served with a side salad. You can choose different sauces so you won’t get bored — even if you’re one of those people who orders the same thing every single day. Best part is, after eating Nora’s you won’t feel like you just ingested a concrete block (unlike some of the other trucks nearby).
Nora’s line grows long around lunch hours, but it’s a worthy mainstay for the hungry Philly kids who know what’s what.

I went to Nora’s 6 months ago and got the black bean burger which was really good.
I decided to go back and try their chicken over rice since that apparently is their most popular item. I am a huge fan of chicken and rice so I had some high expectations for the place.
I got white, spicy, and creamy chipotle sauce for my chicken over rice with no beans and no salad. I really liked that they had a wide variety of options for the sauces which seemed like a good sign. As for the meal itself, I could tell the chicken was fresher than most food carts. Since it was grilled, it definitely tasted different than traditional chicken over rice but still good. The one complaint I had was that some pieces of the chicken still tasted raw and I actually couldn’t chew them and had to spit them out. The sauces though tasty were way too sparse on my rice so some bites just tasted blander than others. All in all, it wasn’t bad but I definitely wouldn’t come back for it again.

Best food truck I’ve had anywhere in Philly, NYC, and California. Tastes like real food rather than salty plastic. Can’t ask for more

Awesome and authentic stuff!

I didn’t realize Nora’s was a Mexican grill since everyone orders chicken over rice here. In theory, Nora’s should be better since the prices are on par for the same food and she gives you more sauce options. The chicken is definitely better quality than other places, and you can see them cut up actual chicken pieces (the other carts are a little more questionable…). The one time I came, it was very faster since 3 of them were working in the truck, and there was no line for once!
However, I still think the plate tastes a little off. Their rice is too soft for my liking, and the sauce isn’t as good as other places. I would never stand in the usual line, which perhaps even beats out the favorites like the 38^th and Walnut Halal truck.

Good food and portions, great pricing, and fast service. Chicken over rice with the special sauce was delicious, best chicken over rice out of all the food carts I’ve been to yet
